James St James was clearly born with this excitement for life. We didn’t know that living fast might not have been good for us. It’s weird to see back in time. Even though we know how it ends, it’s still exciting. It’s a carefree time. I miss being carefree in a lot of ways. 🥰
I miss it, too. I lived too fast for a time then myself, but something kicked in to self-moderate me. Some of my friends are years gone now. And I miss them very much.
I miss being carefree every single day… sigh… growing up and dealing with your “shit” sucks, and it’s honestly so hard some days I question my own sanity for continuing to do it.

What's will happen to the pics we take with our phones nowadays? It's not like we just have hard copy photo albums to break out when company stop by. People record more pics and info these days, I hope remains accessible in a convenient way.
If I spent my time recording it, instead of living it, I would have missed out on a lot great things I got to do. People get caught up in recording things, not living them.
I’ve decided to start making a daily habit of recording a little video of myself in a mirror, and out and about doing various things. I’m like, we have so many things that help back up our digital lives and memories….we SHOULD be. I don’t think I’ll remember everything that I would like to as I get older, so, having the ability to revisit life in reverse….it’s definitely something that I want.
John Sex is so amazing I really enjoy watching these videos and wishing I was old enough back then to have been able to experience New York the way it was. Thank you so much for posting the videos and for preserving them
All James St James knew to sing!! He was obsessed with the song! James was too much for me way too heavy in drugs.. I love him older use to talk to him here and there. He has definitely calmed down.. I like him so much more away from Michael Alig!
The game of life guy (Trey Speegle - has he been in any other videos on here?) is still around, per social media, so good for him... Enjoyed seeing how they promoted themselves back in the day, before social media made that easier and you had to hustle. And it was nice to see Michael Musto in a reflective mood. He's not as hard-edged here as he is in some videos.
How do you make these videos so clear and in such good quality? VHS was never this high of quality from what I remember. This is really amazing. How do you do it?
@@landonhernandez8529 digital came out in the late 70s maybe even before, it was the latest tech so was expensive, vhs was a cheaper form for the masses
Do you people always just accept what someone says as fact? Beginning in 1983, Nelson documented the life around him on video, first on a VHS camcorder (237 tapes from 1983-86), which was so heavy that he suffered a hernia after three years and had to replace his camera with a new Video8 camera (364 tapes from 1986-89). So NO it was not digital footage.
God I hate Musto, even to this day. He's never been cool or edgy or trendy in any decade. However of this bunch, he's the only one to carve out a successful life. The rest were drug addicts, queens and/or dead by now. Sadly. But these videos are great and show people just how much fun the 80s were, especially compared to these days. I was only 14 in 1986 but was able to catch the tail end of America's greatest decade in its greatest city, my home, NYC.
Michael Alig was a nobody who thought he was somebody!! He was nothing but a mere drug addicted narcissistic murdering gag with a F!! His attitude totally sucked. He used everyone that was ever in his life . He cared for nobody but himself. Way he talked rolling his eyes acting like he was high and mighty🤢🤮!! I don’t know why any of them even spoke to that loser pos! He is ugly dresses like shiz has no taste or class! Seeing him in Nelson’s videos makes me wanna puke.
