The Western Air Command of Indian Air force had AN-12s.The last time I travelled in this a/c was in 19973.
This a/cs were used to transport ground crews and ground equipments while on squadron detachment for gunnery, rocketry For external starting of MiG a/c 28 volt DC and 115 Volt AC are used These generators are housed in a truck.AN- 12 carries them. I left IAF in 1985.

It’s definitely got excessive emissions. Either the engines need a total overhaul, or maybe the airplane is full of bad fuel? She’s an old airplane, but this one has more smoke than a 8 engine B-52

I love these beauties so much❤❤ and i can even tell you what they transported to LEJ everyday. Car parts for Skoda, BMW and so on. I am glad to live in Leipzig. Currently we have the CKL parking here, it came from Tangier on july 3rd. Car parts again. I love the An-12 so much❤❤❤❤

@@volodiashickhman8903These engines do not make smoke in cruising flight, only at take-off and also at landing where a setting used for take-off is engaged in case of the need to go around. These engines were designed in the 1950s. Take a look at some American engines of the same era, that smoked far worse than these (often also in cruising flight) but are no longer in use.

@@volodiashickhman8903 Spot the Russian trying to pretend this is normal. The reason he ran up the engines for so long was that it was his last chance to check if he had enough power to get airborne. Probably had to phone home and say a prayer too before deciding to give it a go.

@@volodiashickhman8903 Most modern engines, most flown by anyone except the military, don't leave an impenetrable smoke screen. That looks more like a 1970s diesel engine than a turboprop. It takes a Russian to look at a cloud of soot and say "that's normal".
