I personally enjoy using Xaeros minimap/world map because the world map has cave layers, so if you put the cave layers mode at chunk 30, you can see any dragon dens underground where ever you are.
@@Noble001 Im not sure if Im right about this once you open the world map it should have options at the top allowing you to swap to cave layer, once doing so a slider should appear allowing you to select which y level the map appears.

Also when fighting fire and thunder dragons you can hit them with ice weapons, this makes them unable to fly away as long as they are covered in the ice effect from the weapons, this doesn’t work on ice dragons though but also will be able to make a serpent sink to the bottom of the ocean if you want to avoid fighting it
1: I sleep around 6-8 hours 2: Ice/Fire males have spots on wings & Lightning males have lightning pattern and color fade on wings. Females don‘t thank you for watching

Mini Map is in my opinion best method. You can change settings to display all dragons even outside of the map with their y level and type. You basically can fly on fast mount and see all of them in your render distance. Also really helpful with locating rare mobs like cave centipedes and trolls. And works on all serwers because it is client side. >:)
@@supermanrocks223 it's been some time. you need xaero's minimap, you go into minimap settings, then to entity radar and from there you can completly customize it. ex: making dragons appear as very big dots in different color than others.
Another way is to dig down to level 35 in a one block area put down ur stage 3 dragon and get on it, your head will get stuck but will make you able to xray but only showing entities. This can make you see dragons sleeping even if it’s 300 blocks away then just fly out and head to where u saw it from underground. It gives a much clearer vision of the dragons without millions of caves blocking the view
After watching one of your previous videos, I looked at a saved map of my world and found a dragon's nest underwater. Thank you, although I did not look for it, but then it will come in handy
quicktip: boat above water alot and cover as much area as possible then when u go underground and use xaeros worldmap everything above water will shower underground so u can see caves that were right under the water
i happen to be using the mods: ice and fire, mowzies mobs, waystones and alexs mobs and when i found a barakoa village it had a dragon lair under it but also a gravesite beside it and below the gravesite.. ANOTHER DRAGON LAIR both lightning dragons but only 1 of them gave me an egg sadly lol Most insane find on ice and fire ive ever had

Also double check the configs. If you're anything like me, you made the Ice and Fire mod deliberately spawn as few structures as possible as far apart as possible. Why do I do this? Because dragons, and specifically dragonsteel items, are OP. Minimizing the mere chance of even finding a dragon makes that OPness at least balanced due to obscurity.

if you have Apotheosis too then it's more of a hunt to capture a dragon spawn egg, then stuff it into a spawner and bam. infinite dragons/dragon eggs. combine with chorus fruit to remove dragons ai. Even without AI a big dragon can still use it's breath so be wary of that.
There’s also one more method that’s late game that I don’t think was discussed that I use, and I’d rate it a 6/5! Just turn your render to something like 5 or 7, and max your entity render to 500%. And with your dragon, fly high just enough until the floor is not rendered anymore, but mobs will still be seen. Even underground! Then just fly wherever enjoying your x ray seeing sleeping dragons under the earth

Best way for me is find them in the sea you can always find an ice dragon on a cold sea and fire in warm see for lightning you want to find a jungle and and try looking for them around peninsula

if you have the dragon, youll have the chain too. part of the ice and fire mod! just remember to only use dragon bone walls to chain dragons or the walls will get destroyed like the rest of blocks do.

I found two underground dragons alone with the composter trick. These dragons where sadly directly under my house so I had to move.

use the strongest bow you can get, this will make it much easier to kill the dragon even if you don't have good armor

the eye of dragons and dragonseekers are seperate mods that were available in 1.16.5, you need to check if those are available in your version

Female is stage 4-5 spawning in caves. Also I think male has more detailed wings. Also females are bigger I think.
