    It's very impressive that with the cheap max speeding rods turbo you got that results. What is most impressive is the power and torque curve. And yet there are still people that are debating against Td05s

    • @SubiCarLous
      @SubiCarLous  Год назад +1

      The most stuff you can buy is from china (and it's often really not bad quality wise) and a lot of that is just labeled and sold with a company name somewhere else. So same product but a lot more expensive. Only the warranty is a problem but at that price you could take the risk in my opinion. But also a lot of local products looks cheaper and are worse then the china ones...

      @@SubiCarLous I didn't have in mind the manufacturing quality of the MaxSpeedingRods turbo (which seems good enough) but the performance. The design of the compressor wheel seems that is the same with the original 20G cast wheel (Mitsubishi itself has revised it at least twice). Even if we take into account that in this case is a faithul reproduction (the chinese copies generally tend to be heavier than the original) then the final results (total boost pressure, spool time, power and torque curve) are very impressive. I cannot imagine the performance of a more expensive and advanced derivative with a modern design billet compressor, improved internal bearings (they sell them now with totally revised thrust 360' bearing or ball bearing) and newer design turbine (they are offered with a totally revised 12 blade, 11 blade, 9 blade and recently a 5+5 blade). Basically, my comment was a praise for the Td05H.

    Injector upgrade up next? Looks like you are on 100% duty cycle at 1.4 bar, or is that something of a spike in logging at gear shifts?

    • @SubiCarLous
      @SubiCarLous  2 года назад +6

      Yes, the logs often shows over 100%. In the previeos videos you can actually see that the injectors are not able to deliver the right amount of fuel. It should be the next reasonable upgrade (or higher fuel pressure) but I think I will just try to tune to leaner AFR first because at the moment the leanest AFR is at about 11 AFR so it's still enough fuel. Of course the injectors will not like it for too long and also the tuning is harder because they stay open and the fuel amount controlling is bad.

    Was the stock intercooler set up enough to really push the td05 20g ? Got a stock clean ej255 FXT was thinkin of doing uppipe, downpipe, full exhaust, sti intercooler, oil pick up, fuel pump with the td05 20g with an ewg. Possibly the torque converter and a better trans cooler aswell as ive got a 4eat sadly. Wanna run that till she pops then get a closed deck and a 6speed. Lookin to get just a nice cozy 300 for the streets.

    • @SubiCarLous
      @SubiCarLous  2 месяца назад +1

      You can get a bit more power with a bigger intercooler but the turbo itself will not be able to produce more boost. At high rpm it's flow limited. At least I was not able to get more then 1.5-1.4 bar at 7000 rpm 😅. I think with the EJ255 you will get even less boost.

    • @SubiCarLous
      @SubiCarLous  Год назад

      Why it's hard to say? In the video it says "stock setup" and it means also that. Only ECU tuned for different boost setups. You can even hear it. I tested also the VF35 with the same aftermarket exhaust system that I'm using with the TD05 but never recorded it properly. You will get about 330-340 hp so not near to the TD05.

    • @SubiCarLous
      @SubiCarLous  Год назад +2

      Or you have to raise the rev limit. With about 8000+ rpm you should reach 100 km/h with 2. gear 6 speed. The stock EJ207 will handle it and also I read that people done this on the EJ205 for years and nothing happen but for the 2.5l engines it will be too much in my opinion. You need a build motor then.

    • @rebel.mma.youtube

      @@SubiCarLous thank you so much. Yeah then have to gey a perfect turbo to get that 100kph. So power all the way to to 8k revs? yeah I understand the sti 207 twin scroll ones read line 8k.
      The 5 speed hits the 100kph at just 6.3k revs so if only it could handle more or could get the car to 1000kg in body weight then would have such a quick car.
      I only care about 0-100kph 1/4 mile I'd get a different car with areo dynamics.

    Hey mate im new to the tuning side of things, im looking at putting a GTPS02-712 uses a TD05H turbine with a 7cm or 8cm housing and 712GTP compressor wheel. Comes with Turbosmart actuator. For all Subaru WRX/STi MY1997-2005 would this be similar to yours

    • @SubiCarLous
      @SubiCarLous  Год назад

      It's hard to say. I saw some dyno sheets with E85 fuel and it performed worse. If you are new in tuning I would suggest to buy a china turbo and learn with that first (under 200 bucks). Or check out the mamba turbos. The build quality looks really nice and they are not so expensive as the GTPS02-712. I will be one in the future and test it.

      The TD05-20G is definitely better in every way with my setup. Better response/spool up and more torque over the hole rpm range and also very constant torque. It feels more agressive and hit faster and harder then before. Actually I was very suprised that it perfoms so well.

    Question, what are your thoughts on changing a subaru twin scroll turbo exhaust housing and replace it with a single scroll housing or vice versa?

    • @SubiCarLous
      @SubiCarLous  Год назад +1

      So I just love the boxer sound so I have to stay with the single scroll housing + unequal header. I don't have a comparison to a twin scroll but theoretical it should give you a better spool up. But also people say that an equal length header alone should give to a better spool up or overall perfomance. I tested an unequal vs equal header (with a single scroll turbo) and I was not able to measure any differences (only street data logging and GPS measurement). The equal length header is bigger and heavier with the same material. So if you want the typical boxer sound you need the single scroll housing but if you just want max perfomance then the twin scroll should be better.
