Thank you for the tutorial! Using the fondant was perfect. I cut the eyes and mouth from an edible sugar sheet because it was a little less expensive. I made Cookie Monster cakes for my older children 30 plus years ago and never knew about the grass tip. Maybe they hadn't made it yet. What a great thing!! Much easier than doing one strand of hair at a time! My little grandson was very happy with his cake!

That should be enough because the only Fondant used on this cake is the eyes nose and mouth which doesn't take much but I guess it would depend on the size of your cake and elmo head! :)
It depends on how big of a cake you are making. If I am making a 8-9 inch round 2 layer tall cake I used 2 boxes of cake mix. If I am making a 6 Inch round 2 layer cake I use one box of cake mix.

This cake is perfect for even the beginner baker! Fur doesnt have to be perfect so there is room for error, once you try it you will be amazed how awesome it will turn out. I would love to go check out your content :)

Just wondering why the simple syrup before the buttercream icing and this was very helpful
The simple syrup just keeps the cake itself moist and from drying out if you don't plan on eating the cake immediately. :)

How do you get it that red?
I use Gel food coloring not the liquid. It does'nt affect the texture as bad and colors much more vibrant and easier.
How is the "Simple Sugar" made?
water and white sugar! equal parts, so like one cup of sugar to one cup of water, boiled to dissolve, then cooled completely!!! :)
