It's been like that since Halo. However, Infinite AI is still unable to discriminate proper behaviour for other weapons and suffers heavily from being extraordinarily passive.
I actually wish the Banished would try retaking the FOBs when reaching the end game, or at least send a small force to investigate. I know Cortana 2.0 is "deleting" them from the banished network but I find it odd they don't notice a whole region is suddenly going dark
I think they do notice, it’s just they probably don’t have enough to spare and are already short on extra hands. Also they seem kinda cocky against Chief so that might be part of why they didn’t send anyone. Also they had that one propaganda grunt trying to keep attention away from falling regions.
I feel like 343 definitely considered it, but thought better of it to try and avoid a situation where the player is constantly running around having to defend bases
yeah. the fact that they can stand up to attacks this time compared to some older halo games and dont actually always win there fight and it just comes down to how each AI tells its self what it should do in those situations at the time. kinda giving the illusion of AI sentience. both banished and unsc are AI controlled yet they are programmed to think how to deal with such an incident against each other.

Just like the last Halo NPC battle, this one's another best of seven format. SPOILERS FOR THE VIDEO. Marines successfully defend their home turf in a grueling Round 1, withstanding early pressure from the Elites. Marines lead series 1-0. Round 2 starts with early leads by the Marines, but they get a bit overconfident and try pushing the Elites, who force them back up the bridge. Tense at the halfway point but the Marines regroup and win Round 2, with a decisive 2-0 series lead. Round 3 begins with Elites pummeling the Marines, who are on the brink of losing, but the Marines quickly recover and hold the Elites back. Unable to withstand long range fire squads on the bridge, the Elites lose steam halfway through and could not replicate their early success. Marines take Round 3 and hold a commanding 3-0 lead. Elites, facing a 0-3 hole, refuse to go quietly and finally break through the Marines' defenses on their bridge. This is the shortest round, with Elites surviving the sweep by taking Round 4, albeit still trailing the series 1-3. Round 5. Elites win this and they can force a sixth round. Marines win this and they take the series. Elites, who have played catch-up all series, need this win, which the Marines could afford to lose but would rather finish business now. It goes back and forth, no clear momentum unlike the other rounds, but the Marines pull through by their trademark precision and discipline, defeating the tenacious Elites whose efforts were not enough. Marines win series 4-1.

If anyone didn't notice the marines uniform look so much like starship troopers. the regular marine uniform from the first halo combat involved and 2nd game they should keeped
Humanity was already on its last leg after the covenant war and was barely holding on to whatever fractions of itself were left. With constant insurgent fighting as well, the UNSC had no time to recover before Cortana wiped cities and planets off the map with the Guardians. Infinity going to Zeta Halo was a last ditch effort to stop Cortana, but the infinity was ambushed right as she exited slipspace. The banished had already set up AA guns ringside so most survivors were shot out of the sky, not to mention the destruction of UNSC satellite arrays which would’ve allowed safe long range communication. The banished left the crew of the infinity with hardly any way to establish a base of operations
I love how fucking sneaky and agile they made the elites in this game they don’t just stand there they tactical roll gears of war style everywhere making it hard to hit them and take cover
This only serves to illustrate one of my greatest grippes with Halo games weapons designs. For some reason, Non-Human weapons in general are depicted as somehow less effective than Humans more conventional chemically propelled weapons, when in lore, it is stated that the effects of Plasma weapons is horrific, with impacts doing a minimum of third degree burns and being at least as fast, if not faster than bullets. It is this intentional game design imbalance that has led many to believe that the UNSC really has some kind of fighting chance on the ground, when in general, losses for UNSC where horrendous to a relatively smaller Elite group, whose shields could shrug off bullets and plasma that either killed outright or burned the target from inside out, or simply put the target on fire, due to extreme plasma temperatures. Certainly, the ground war was preferable for the UNSC where the technological deficit was not as overwhelming as in Space Battles, where the Covenant won with near impunity most of the time. But the technological deficit still existed in ground battles and with few exceptions (like the Scorpion), the UNSC was always on the losing side of engagements against the Covenant, whose technology allowed them to endure damage that UNSC forces usually could not match and had weapons, that with few exceptions where significantly deadlier than UNSC's more conventional chemically propelled kinetic weapons.
idk, even in the campeign in halo 3 where u just had a group of covenant placed in sometimes random spots on the map i found it quite fun for the unsc's to stand and fight against the covenant while i sat back, weather it was in a vehicle or on foot. i didnt really ever come across in halo 3 as the unsc being weak but more the flood being too weak.

the thing is. still, as it stands of right now, theres no normal way either campeign or forge that gives a forced option for the AI's to use specific weapons either than the set weapon except the UNSC's at FOB's. what makes this a big problem is the fact that banished weapons such as the grav hammer cant be picked up by elites or lower tier'd banished yet only chieftans and i think brutes can. so why can i customise and deck out the UNSC and FOB's but the banished have set weapons they very rarely if at all change?
There is a lot of talk about how powerful Marines armed with Arc Sentinel Beams are in Halo Infinite. So many videos of them dominating enemies when all armed with one on a Razorback. Any chance you can confirm this? Marines NPC battles verses banished soldiers and even high value targets.
The talk is true. I tried it the other day. The marines were destroying everyone. That includes Phantoms. Nobody lasted more than a few seconds with my marines and me on the attack.
The talk you heard is true. A full squad of marines with Arc Sentinel beams melt littereally everything that moves. in half a second they vaporize elites, even faster for grunts and jackals. Hell, in a couple of seconds the marines can destroy a phantom before any troops can be deployed from it. Its so broken but i love it

god the marine AI are so satisfyingly smart, both when they fight and navigating the terrain. They're really held back by their lack of shields and health pool which still lets you play the hero by taking more risky maneuvers and they support you. Really impressive what they did here in infinite for the core gameplay loop ngl
Besides the occasional bad Pathfinding the Marines have they're actually my favorite batch of marines in the halo franchise. Halo 2s marine dialogue with the IWHBYD Skull on is pretty damn comedic though.
It would be really cool if they had the opportunity or sequence of the FOBs getting attacked and if you don’t go to them to help they get lost/taken back by the banished. Kinda like the gang wars in gta San Andreas.

This'd be a one-sided slaughter if the tracking wasn't broken on every single one of those pulse carbines. Speaking of which, what's the deal there? Why are none of them tracking?
On further consideration, I may be remembering their use against vehicles or the HVT behind Tremonius Outpost using one. In recent gameplay, I am indeed noticing that there's no tracking, so I can't say for certain where that traumatic memory came from.
This is really cool but it's kinda lame how the elites all just have pulse carbines, while some marines have snipers, rockets, bulldogs. It would be great to even the odds in a future vid by giving the elites stalkers, ravagers and swords.
This is great :) I'm also creating UNSC & Marines NPC Wars videos in Halo Infinite✌
This is the first game I've seen with well programmed AI snipers. That don't run into the action with bolt-action sniper rifles
If they can get down and set up their sniper rifles, instead of shooting in a squatting manner……
Those sniper rifles are not bolt action
They're semi auto snipers
It's been like that since Halo. However, Infinite AI is still unable to discriminate proper behaviour for other weapons and suffers heavily from being extraordinarily passive.
