    I've been using Affinity Photo / Design for YEARS and have always struggled to find a solid channel for tutorials. You earned a new sub with this. Solid information, a lot I already knew - some things I learned for the first time. And you did it with some humor. All around - solid content. Looking forward to more Affinity stuff from you!

    I have only just found you, and I am truly impressed, it's not often that you get someone teaching with a sense of humour as well ( I taught systems for over 30 years (I'm 72 now and still learning!!) and it was not always appreciated when I joked about a bit, like putting my boss in a sports car and zooming through five or six Powerpoint slides). Carry on making me laugh or smile and I'll watch all of your videos. I was a Photoshop teacher for many years so I thought this would be hard to crack but you explain it all so well, I'm sure I'll pick it up quickly. Well done

    I used to use Affinity Photo v1 years ago, but was never great at it. Took a few years off from photography and just downloaded 2.0. Man, was I lost! I looked at 3 or 4 tutorials before this one, and quit all of them, some after less than a minute, until I found yours. Very impressive video! I learned something I was trying to figure out in the first 5 minutes (I screwed up the pallets on the right and didn’t know how to restore them). I’ve saved this to my iPad to refer back to often. Very well done. Now I’m off to see what other great stuff you offer 😉

    You are an absolute gem of a human being! I've only been using the blend mode from a cool textured background with an empty mask on the top layer to use the brush tool to give a unique texture to the "main" part of my thumnail when painting it back in like you showed how to do in your vinyl cover tutorial. Thank you for making a full on beginners guide my friend! Now I can hopefully have the tools to experiment more and make awesome thumbnails.

    Hi; I've been using Affinity Photo for a few months now (off and on); and have found your videos to be one of the most helpful. Question; what is the best/easiest way to blur a background, or even certain areas of a background?
    I'd love it if you could explain, as you make it easier to understand than others I've seen. Thank you so much.

    • @bydesignmethod
      @bydesignmethod  2 месяца назад +1

      Hey!
      The easiest way to blur a background (or certain parts) would be using the 'Depth of Field' filter.
      It will give you a circle or radius you can use to keep clear and it will blur the rest, you can adjust the radius as needed and the blur intensity.
      To give it a try go to Layer > New Live Filter Layer > Blur > Depth of Field
      It's also destructive so you can edit/delete it at anytime without causing any damage.
      Let me know if that works ok, every photo is different!

After I get an imported photo modified the way I like in Affinity Designer or Photo, what is the best file to save it onto my MacBook desktop so it can be moved to the Lightburn app on my laser machine to engrave onto a wood surface? Hey John,
      Just confirm in the layers panel do you just have the text selected and nothing else? you want to make sure Affinity knows you only want to apply the effect to the text.
      If the Perspective effect appears at the top of the layer stack it will affect everything below it.
      Try dragging the perspective in the layers panel on top of the text to isolate it to only that text
