Watched this live and my heart actually hurt seeing him take the 9. He had such a unique set of scoring tricks, he should’ve taken 1st. I don’t even think a gazelle flip down stairs like this has ever been done??
Foreal every other trick was done atleast twice. that gazelle down the stairs was something else worth more than a 9. idk wat was up with the judges on that one 🤔
They robbed him on the front big tail too, they gave him a 7 something, it should've gotten high 8s. They robbed him on the front 180 switch back nose grind, they gave him 9s all week and suddenly gave him 8 point something. They robbed him on the hard flip front board, just because he went to reg instead of fakie, they are the same difficulty. They definitely robbed him on this gazelle flip. NO ONES ever done this down stairs, even in videos. he deserved a 9.9. It was way harder than shanes switch tre double that got the 9.9 They were determined to not let him win, just because hes new. I'm glad Aurelien won though, one of the best styles in SLS.
There is not much Mtn Dew (and other sponsors’) sales in Japan. This comp is all about business, not skate. But we, skaters, all know who is the real winner.
@@IamTuxedo Especially the gazelle flip or whatever the name is and the 180 to fakie nosegrind. Tj Rogers did a sw heel that got a huge score, and the 180 fakie nosegrind not so much. While the majority of skaters can do a sw heel no prob, ask them to do a alley oop 180 fakie nosegrind, it's whole different story. Especially on a bump to down ledge
Not hating on Felipe Gustavo but the fact that Sora did an NBD in a comp and only got a 9? Rigged af. Nobody tries Gazelles in competition since it's such a high risk trick. Normally he'd have been rewarded properly but not here smfh.
Ok I am not a huge skateboard fan, but I couldn’t believe he only scored a 9. Is this not one of the hardest flip tricks to do especially over that gap?
No, its called the Gazelle flip named by the man that actually invented the trick decades ago... the one and only Rodney Mullen. That said, Sora is a absolute beast for taking it down such large obstacles... Mullen did it off some ledges and things back in the day himself but nothing near the heights Sora has taken it to.
I feel so bad for Aurelien and Sora... Aurelien deserved a win from a long time, and the first one is not clean. On the other way Sora did this out of nowhere and doesn't get rewarded, I don't see why he would try it again in the future.
I agree! Aurelien did deserve to win but Sora needed to get rewarded for that, and youre right, by seeing he didnt get rewarded he might not even try it again >.< The judges were wack on this fosure
Only reason girard got better place was cause off one switch trick that sora could have make in his sleep. Also his one ghetto bird hard abit more air and looked cool, but sora landed much harder tricks and more off them aswell.
when shane did the first sw double tre down stair he got 9.9 sora does a flawless nbd contest trick and gets 9. that was really painful to watch back then
Watched it personal and the people out there have no words to say but quite because of how amazing that shit was, ntlss I was expecting him to win but really tour is bullshit
It would be still low. Joslin got 9.5 at SLS doing full cab flip 2x at The same Day. This one is harder, and NBD. Just like when Shane did sw double three and got 9.9. This one should get at least 9.7, but The fair one would be 9.9
i think a 9 is ok to give, not that i wouldnt rate it higher, but look at his berrics "bangin" video where he does it much cleaner! and also i would say felipes trick looked perfect.. just my thoughts
Dude , it’s one thing doing it in the berrics with many tries and no pressure , and then in a championship with a lot of stress , both are completely different
You realize this was the first time a Gazelle flip had ever... I repeat EVER been done in a competition down such a large obstacle, if not the first time its ever been done in a contest setting period. The only other person that may have done a Gazelle flip in a contest run at some point in time is none other then Rodney Mullen... its one of the most difficult tricks in skateboarding to get down with consistency, hence why its never done in comps and yet Sora threw one down like it was nothing. I suggest you watch this vid here that breaks down the most recent SLS event and just how horrible and bias the judges scoring was, these type of robberies are obviously nothing new but it never makes them any easier to digest. - ruclips.net/video/e8bYqBD2PlY/видео.html
Imagine doing a 360 flip, catching it with your feet, then spinning yourself 360 degrees. Thats what he does, he's just doing both at once. The board makes a full 720 revolution from when it ollies to when it lands. I can't imagine how difficult that must be, and no one else has done it at least not in competition. Should have been a 9.75-10.
@@Widderic Wow thanks for the reply bro 🤙 and looking at the slow-mo replay, I can make out what you explained. Would this trick be more technical than Shane O'Neils switch double 360 flip? Or switch 720 flip as some have said
@@NZ-SUBZERO A switch double 360 flip is called a Switch diamond flip I think. I can do it regular but not switch, but I still think a regular gazelle is harder to pull off. It reminds me of that scene in interstellar when they are spinning really fast and trying to dock hahah.
@@Widderic wtf I bust my balls trying to land a smooth normal 360 flip 😅. The body rotation and meeting up with the board at the right time is crazy with that gazelle flip. Dam near impossible lol
@@NZ-SUBZERO Gazelle flip is way harder and I honestly think shane finds switch 360 double flips easier than regular. Now the switch double bigflip shane did is more on par

Aurelien Giraud is in another league. Did you watched his tricks ? big , technical and beautifull style . Of course the jury have a margin of error, but they adust it with the next note. Sora reminds me jeff dechesare..., i think jury was kind for giving him the second place
