Kirkstone Pass with an altitude of 1,489 feet is the Lake District’s highest pass that is open to motor traffic. It connects Ambleside in the Rothay Valley to Patterdale in the Ullswater valley - the A592 road. There is another route from Troutbeck, which joins the Ambleside road at the Kirkstone Pass Inn.
Drove this road last week on holiday, and the scenes you get to see are amazing ❤
I drove this road twice in 1988, with my wife and 2 kids in the back. It was a little manual Renault 11, and I was in my 30s - King of the Road. What a fool I was. But I enjoyed it tremendously
The smell of burning clutch oil lol. I was meant to be there this weekend but the weather has put pay to that. Hope you and your family are well.
We drove through Kirkstone Pass last week on holiday to the Lake District. First time driving through roads like this. Safe to say, I was holding on to my seat for dear life during the ride 😬 but the views were simply breathtaking and spectacular and well worth it! 😊
Absolutely beautiful. Great if you can do it early
I did it once in heavy snow, that was rather interesting
Can I drive my Vauxhall corsa on these roads ? I’m a new driver would it be okay ?
Yes, you can but be careful
