- In this video we will demo some of the pad sounds from KORG. These patches are just a small few from the last 40 years of KORG. Hope you enjoy!
0:00 - Intro
1:12 - opsix
2:34 - 01/W
3:56 - Polysix
5:05 - prologue
6:18 - DW-6000
7:28 - Trinity
8:23 - M1 - Видеоклипы
Fun! Of course, so much is patch dependent, but I really enjoyed hearing the 01/w and the M1. I know nothing about it, but that 01/W looks huge! You've got a great collection of Korg synths and it's always great to hear the Polysix. Thanks for sharing. Cheers to you both. :)
Thanks so much for sharing your perspective! Yes, the 01/W Pro X is about 80 lbs. Lots of wood - very sturdy. Not fun at all to move!! Thanks again! :)
Matt, Korg pads rock! The universe pad on the M1 is iconic, and gets my vote!!
Awesome - thanks for chiming in!
So much to enjoy here. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much for listening!
My favourite is Prologue, wonderful sounding synth.
Awesome - thanks for letting us know!
@@mwmusic29 I have a Prologue 8, love it, it's a gem!
@@zoltan_dudas I agree. I think the prologue had a rocky launch with some tuning issues that caused it to be looked down on early and it never recovered. Otherwise I think it would have a lot more recognition than it does.
Great video! Thank you to both of you. I’m a connoisseur of synths that are good for pads and Korg is my favorite. I personally lean towards motion pads from the Trinity and TR-rack (which you showed). I also love the Wavestation, 01/W, and Z1 for their many possibilities. I’ve enjoyed the M1 and Triton VSTs from the Legacy Collection which are loaded with great pad patches as well. I’m not sure where I got the patch from, but I have M1’s Universe patch (kind of converted of course) loaded on my Trinity V3 synth and it sounds amazing in a slightly different way.
Very cool - thanks for sharing! I believe the Trinity is my favorite hardware synth and it's great that you have the V3! Interesting that you've got the Universe patch on there, even if it's modified a bit. I appreciate you stopping by!
great work team duo
Thank you!!
My favourite poly synth came third in this shoot out lol. The Prologue is my bread and butter poly synth yet without bias the 01/W Pro X was the best in this demo followed by the M1 for me. The Prologue came in third. I'm sure that I can do all these pads on the Prologue though. Great video. I really enjoyed the demo
Thanks so much, I appreciate you checking it out! I'm also a huge fan of the prologue!!
I have the M1. Great pad sounds.
It’s a great keyboard for sure. Thanks for stopping by!
Hey Matt- hard to pick a favourite - but I will 😊 Really like the Trinity pad - shades of Vangelis but what you were playing reminded me of Carlos' Clockwork Orange - awesome 👍
Thanks Ian! The Trinity really is one of my all time favorites. It's just really rich, even today. We appreciate you watching!
Have to give the opsix as my favorite, but that should come as no shock 😊
The Polysix and the prologue are the other two standouts for me.
Great demo video! 👍
Thanks for stopping by! 😃👍🏻
I listened to these blind to avoid being influenced by my perception of the synths. Here's my ranking from best to worst:
4: I guessed the Prologue! Easily the brassiest sounding filter of the bunch.
7: Immediately recognized the patch, could only be a M1. Love a good rainstick!
6: I didn't know the synth (Trinity) but I wrote "Vulgar Display of Digital Power"
3: Totally wrong about this one, I thought it was a Virtual Analog 😂
5: I knew it was an analog filter, but I guessed the Polysix. Good filter character, not my favorite of the settings.
1: Clearly the OPSix.
2: I'm sure there's some great patches in the 01/W, but this one was easily my least favorite. Kind of the worst of both worlds (digital and virtual analog). Very brittle. Listening to it back now though I still think it's a great sound, it just doesn't stack up against the rest!
This was a lot of fun! Thank you for the video!
Thanks for listening and thanks for the feedback! I still maintain that you need to pick up a Trinity for a deep dive on your channel. It's a largely overlooked powerhouse with lots of character. Thanks again man - I appreciate it!
@@mwmusic29one day I will I'm sure!
Trinity ‼️
Thanks - I love the Trinity! 👍🏻
Hi Matt, interesting comparison, are these factory sounds or did you program them yourself?
Everything you hear is factory patches outside of the Polysix which I dialed up myself. Thanks for listening!
My favorite is the M1!
You’re my favorite! :)
@@mwmusic29❤
difficult to choose, perhaps the Trinity pad... ooh I don't know. How many Korgs :) ?
Was looking for a used Prologue but the prices were too high so had to settle for a Sequential Rev2. Still love my Opsix I got before Korg prices went krazy
Wow - I'm surprised a Rev2 was cheaper than a prologue. Interesting! Yeah, the opsix is hard to beat. I'd like to get the SE someday but it's way out of my price range right now...
@@mwmusic29It was an 8 voice Rev2 for a thousand even. Must have been a studio synth because it was spotless and the screen protector was still on.
The Opsix SE looks good but I wouldn't buy it without trying the keyboard. Korg is hit or miss with their keybeds with some good and some blah but you already know that haha
@@raul0ca Yeah the keybeds are all over the place. I will say the keybed on the prologue is super so I know KORG can do it - if they want to. Glad you got such a good deal on the Rev2!!
@@mwmusic29Still a Korgie at heart though. Dream synth is a Kronos
@@raul0ca I hear that! 👍🏻
korg trinity M1 and 01 are better pads for me
Awesome - thanks for the perspective!
Rated solely by the presented sounds, (without keeping the synth"s possibilities in mind), No 1: 01/W pro X, No,:2: Prologue & Polysix. It even seems like Prologue's basic sound is more premium than Polysix's.
Thanks for the input! I think the internal effects on the prologue give it an immediate boost over the Polysix. Those effects were present on the patch here so it might be an advantage in this comparison. I appreciate you listening!
@@mwmusic29 I guess there was a video you compared the prologue with a moog with almost zero difference in sound.
@@Gerald_Daniel I might have. I know I definitely did one comparing the Polysix and prologue... ruclips.net/video/R2tsYHU2PHI/видео.html :)
@@mwmusic29! I'm sorry for you that the prologue had troubles. I've never made it to deal well with issues like those. That's why I mostly ordered two identic pieced to make sure that errors that always occur with new gear aren't limited to just a single piece. Mostly one gets sent back.
Particularly nice lighting in the video. Trinity shimmers ice blue.
In terms of sound for the Prologure, there's no need to hide from the PS-6 (like it's company-internal called). Both sound great. I guess I coudn't decide. I too own a PS-6 & beside YAMAHA's FM test ballon GS2, that also has a (much better) Ens effect, nothing sounds as vintage as those two in my setup.
@@Gerald_Daniel The GS2 is a really great sounding synth! :)
And the winner is M1 : )
That's the popular choice so far! :D
Should have had the DW8000 and Wavestation v1, best Korg pads.
@@maccagrabme I can’t work with synths I don’t have. Thanks for stopping by! 😃
"Poly" is the name and pads and stabs are my game. 🤨 If I can't play a pad then the guitarist can't play in "E" and the drummer can't play the snare. The bass player? Who cares.
🤣
