I count Timothy Zahn as one of my contacts and peers as a writer. I wrote the first draft of my Episode X: The Empire Strikes Again script in 2018 to save the main series after I watched Episode VIII: Last Jedi. My most recent draft (2022-23) gives Thrawn the opening shot.

Tony Gilroy made the best 'Star Wars' show, and he made the best 'Star Wars' movie since the original trilogy. We probably will not be going to talk about this in a few years but those who study business management, arts or something related to producing entertainment that actually wants to make a profit might talk about this since this is a good example of how to destroy a business by "not catering to your customers and alienating them". They are like a steakhouse that suddenly switched the entire menu to vegetarian then shocked why they are losing cash and blame their customers for not buying their salads.
All this has zero to do with business, they are promoting social change.

The cartoon did an amazing job and shows how the movies destroyed Luke's role, he was changed from something akin to a force wielding god who balanced the force, into a hobo who did nothing. His role was to be stuck on that planet balancing the force and saving the future while not taking direct action.
If KK still gets to stand in the same room as the people creating Star Wars stories, it'll never recover. I'll never forget KK telling us that there was NOTHING for them to work with so they had to create their own Star Wars Stories. Star Wars EU didn't exist in their world. Revan doesn't exist in KK's, "Force is Female" universe.

I don't like woke Disney at all. I found Andor to be a boring story about a boring side character that didn't add anything to the Star Wars lore. That being said, I am just one man with his opinion, I am no authority on anything, I just have an opinion.
What even happened in Andor? I fell asleep 15 minutes into the first episode because it was so boring
What I usually say to people who said they didn't like andor is: try again. With a little patience, watch it and pay attention. It's a difficult show to digest. It's not a show you put on to relax after a hard day's work, it will simply tire you even more.
I think most fans of Andor would admit that first 3 episodes are slow but after that it's definitely worth it. At least you gave it a try 👍

Throw in the fact it doesn't actually add anything, and is the tale of a side character they killed off in his first appearance.
However it was well written, with some great acting and production. It is worth a watch, but not as great as many claim it to be.

People forget that Andor has some really bad pointless parts and filler to it. ALL of the prison scenes are Gold, untouchable and a fair way to being the greatest Star Wars storyline - Period..... but the cereal munching ultra-beta male idiot's story was/is atrocious.... and the amount of time they place on him and that female imperial officer was tragic. They HAVE to stay away from that, because it almost caused Andor to be a train wreck. But Serkis and co were the magic and the bomb... has to remain like that type of writing as the centre piece.

If I were a Disney board member, I would insist Bob Iger fire Kathleen Kennedy and Leslye Headland, first and foremost. I am old enough that I was 15 years old when the first Star Wars movie came out, so I've been here for the entire ride. What Kennedy has been allowed to do is nearly criminal.
Andor was so good that peoples first reactions were, did they just give Andor the money and left them to it. If you haven't watched it yet do so. it isn't long but its story arcs are about 3 episodes. the locations are gorgeous and real, (people compared the final fight in obi wan and Andor leaves it for dead). its premis is showing how the resistance began and it has big BIG name actors in it, including skarsgard (when you get to his speech it will send shivers down his spine.) Andy Serkis is in it for one story arc and with the main lead absolutely kills it. After watching andor everything after sadly is pure trash.
That would give Disney money and I cannot do that.

The good news is then, just like Star Wars fans who only love the original trilogy, you'll still have all the Kennedy stuff to enjoy. And if I'm wrong and you're not that type of SW fan, and you're actually only a fan of the original trilogy, it's perhaps time to give up on this franchise completely! I'm not saying that to be nasty, as that absolutely described me until Rogue One turned up, and then Andor. Good news though; if you do accept this franchise isn't for you, you still get to watch it, and however s*** you find a TV show or movie in future you won't be upset. Honestly the comments and thoughts I hear about the Acolyte just have me think "so hardcore SW fans are finally experiencing what I've felt for ninety five percent of this franchise's history!".

Andor was Star Wars gold. Amazing story, amazing acting, amazing sets and cinematography.
Even if hypothetically thos was true, unless Tony gets rid of the Sequels and a big chunk of Disney Canon. He's not fixing the problem, won't be bringing back the fans, and as a result will fail just as spectacularly.
Give the next head of Lucas Films those 4 scripts and her notes. They will quickly see what is wrong with Disney Star Wars.

Very skeptical of this news. As long as Kenedy and Filoni are involved, any Star Wars movies are doomed. Note that if you raise the Dune and Dune 2 quality point, the budget for these amazing movies was no more than the budget of the Acolyte. So throwing money at it, money is not the solution if the story telling sucks, if fans are approached as toxic bigots, if DEI ruins supreme. This can only happen if KK is removed otherwise she will do to Gilroy what she did to Favreau who did the first 2 seasons of Mando and then mentally checked out due to KK's interference.

1 - Andor was NOT a success AT ALL. It's good, but no one watched it.
2 - Tony Gilroy already said he does NOT want to do more Star Wars.
3 - Kathleen Kennedy has dirt on Bob Iger and higher executives at Disney. Otherwise she would have been fired YEARS ago. She wasn't, she won't be, and Gilroy isn't going to be the one to come in and replace her. Neither will Favreau for that matter.
If Kathleen Kennedy is still employed at Lucasfilm, she will be involved. She needs to go or the horror show will continue.

The story I’ve always had in the back of my mind about is a pre-prequel about how a young city governor gets in trouble because he always believes the ends justify the means, getting recruited by a stranger who somehow makes the trouble go away and finally taking a new name, Palpatine. As the stranger teaches him how to be a Sith he investigates something beyond the rim, he and his master investigate and discover an invasion force slowly gathering, the master is killed and Palpatine decides that, for anyone to survive, he needs to prepare the Republic by getting it on a war footing as soon as he can, maybe changing the government to something more proactive…
