Here is my improved mix of "What Shall We Do Now?" by Pink Floyd. It is the final, definitive version as I cannot do anything further to improve it. Hopefully someday we will get an official release, but after so many years it is unlikely. Enjoy! - Видеоклипы
Everytime I listen to this I just cant believe it wasn’t on the album
Yeah, the only reason it was cut was because it was too long and the album needed to fit on two records. It was such a last minute change that you can still find the song listed on the track listing on some original 1979 pressings.
Same here. This one is a masterpiece, maybe the most deeply violent and insane song I ever heard.
@@mijoepa I never understood this explanation. Side 2 of The Wall isn't even 19 minutes long, it should have fit quite easily. At least they still played it live.
@@TheDrunkSpartan1337 When in the album should this have been?
@@artymouri2690 Before Young Lust, in place of Empty Spaces (on the live album, "What Shall We Do Now?" is listed as only the upbeat part though). Since it's only a few minutes longer, I don't get why it was cut.
The Wall film soundtrack desperately needs an official release, preferably on vinyl
It was considered that it was going to be a soundtrack but it sadly wasn't made for some reason. I don't remember the reason why but it probably was to Roger's demands and kinda asshole moves to Alan Parker and the band. That's what I think
It probably was also due to the fact that it would've been more of the same, considering most of the songs remained largely unchanged or were just shortened. They released When The Tigers Broke Free and the extended Bring The Boys Back Home as a single, which are probably the most interesting revisions and additions to come out of the movie.
That being said, I would love a soundtrack release as well just because Bob Geldof gives the definitive performance for fascist pink and the complete revisions of Mother, In The Flesh, and Brick In The Wall 3 are personal favorites of mine. What Shall We Do Now, on the other hand, is in the three official Wall albums following the original, and will be performed as such forever, since I'm not really hearing too many people leaning towards just using Empty Spaces in its space.
Sadly, we are well past the time where a soundtrack release would likely be made, as the movie is basically a cult movie, despite how ubiquitous the album is. The only options now would be to petition Columbia Records to release a soundtrack to a 40 year old movie that, again, would be a lot of repeats from the album, or to just ask for the revised and added songs.
I was always disappointed that the film soundtrack was never released
@Terrence's Classic Rock Corner Podcast is this true?!?
@@bromanbrothe2nd844Yes it is. James Guthrie has been trying to make a restored 5.1 remix of The Wall.
I’m glad people still remember this song
Can’t forget it :D
how can people forget? its pink floyd
This is one of the best off of The Wall with some of the best lyrics. I didn't know about it for the longest time, then I was listening to the Live CD from 1980, and this song caught me off guard. I must have replayed 30 times that night.
I dont understand how they didnt at least release this as a single
Capitalist rulers did not like this song
I mean, it could have been a b-side of a single? Maybe? I highly doubt this would have gotten much radio play
@@scottishcheese13 could've been the b side to when the tigers broke free
@@ajaxmaxbitch totally agree, the b-side "Bring the boys back home" is so weak, I mean, it's possibly the worst song in the record
@@felays3171 true
Thanks for your devotion to the best Pink Floyd song that never was👍
You're very welcome. Enjoy! :)
ohh it is
there are or were like 3 versions of this song. all pretty amazing. it’s so under done. i thought is was second best on the whole album.
I totally agree to that.
So deep!
2:26 this part never gets old. I can sit here for an hour listening to this part.
I’ve done that drumbeat way to many times
@@noyes1511 Same. I always find myself tapping the beat along on a desk or the roof of a car.
I hate how last minute this songs removal was and the only reason it was removed was because it was "too personal to pink".
Same.
One of the first riff I learned to play on guitar.
This goes hard every time.
Huh?
@@TrayChester01 That means it's awesome.
This song requires a *quality* heavy metal cover.
No it doesn't. Don't ruin perfection.
@@NWStuff-yl5jm Music tradition, rookie.
@@chumbucketjones9761 no. you will ruin everything
This was my favorite part in the whole movie, its a master piece. Pink Floyd is just a legend band in the first place.
God, I wish they released this alongside When The Tigers Broke Free for the film's release. It's a way better Empty Spaces!
And a better B side than Bring The Boys Back Home
A lot better than Empty Spaces
At least When the Tigers Broke Free was put on The Final Cut
It's because Empty Spaces is a reprise of this song.
This why the movie is slightly better than the album, it has this gem and some kick ass animation too. Hammer salute!!!!
The Hammers will beat down your door!!
@@TrayChester01 Cause if they catch you in the backseat trying to pick her locks, they're gonna send you back to mother in a cardboard box!
Kinda wish I had that scream effect isolated...
Everytime I listen to this album I’m not the same for days
Got to be careful it's dark.
Finally! A version with the scream.
Sounds outstanding
Much better mix than what I had before -- thanks!
You're most welcome. Enjoy!
This is probably my favorite or one of my favorite tracks from The Wall now
As much as I love the album version for its sheer simplicity, I agree it's somewhat of a shame this was not on the original album. It was cut in the interests of sound quality back in the good old days of vinyl.
Vinyl has a bigger market now than they did back when they were popular lol its not "old days"
@@JesusGomez-ob2qt No need to sound so arrogant. Yes vinyl has a much bigger market now, but it was a NECESSITY in the "old days", hence the exclusion of this on the album. Sound quality actually makes a difference when you arent listening on cheap Victrola players
@bran8935 my point is Vinyl is not a dying artform, it's still thriving and in the age of digital streaming its become collectors items and I don't see it dying anytime soon
Very well done, noticeable improvement over the original
Thanks, I appreciate that. :)
Much better than Empty Spaces!!!!
Amazing dude. Thank you for tagging me!!!!!!!
You're welcome!
Oh thank you very much! This is amazing!
I'm listening to a DVD rip I believe on CD and listening in multi setting and It sounds totally immersive. Don't Leave Me Now and it's labored breathing going back and forth all around. It reminds me of the claustrophobic space suit from 2001 A Space Odyssey. 😮
This song is so good!!!
Why did they never release this song on an album? It's one of their best. They didn't even include it on "A Tree Full of Secrets".
Because the song was to long for the record unfortunately
Absolutely ridiculous that it wasn't on a Tree Full of Secrets. Tree has a ton of obscure stuff yet it somehow doesn't have this song.
@@ajaxmaxbitchWhat a bs statement really, Side two had so much space.
Discovered this song when I saw Roger Waters performing the Wall a few years ago. Now when I listen to the studio release of the album along with the guitar solo fading out at the end of Comfortably Numb, the album feels incomplete. I now prefer to listen to Roger Waters concert version of the Wall which has this song and also the full Comfortably Numb guitar solo.
If that's Rick on the Hammond, it's among the best work he did for the album.
Love this one
Goddamn goosebumps all over my flesh when I listen to this!
10 years since I first saw Pink Floyd The Wall movie and I’m still mad it’s not on the album
Who has watched the film?
I

The question is how many times have we seen the film?
like begger
One of Floyd's (bad-ass) songs... Hands down.
It's a good mix. Pity we don't have a master recording of the "clean" version (without the SFX that was on the movie). That would probably near impossible to needle out. That said, with AI technology these days, maybe one day...?
I would like to see empty spaces mixed with what shall we do now, that would be epic.
You and everybody else, lol. :)
Im trying to restore the whole album with the intended flow, as posted above (WSWDN, Young Lust, One of My Turns, Don't Leave, Empty Spaces, Another Brick 3 etc.) I should be done by next friday
@@stellarbastard98 that would be epic.
@@Ohio_Operator ye it would. It might take a little longer though because I want it to be studio-like.
@@stellarbastard98 are you replaying the songs or using original audio?
This is awesome.
had to find it after watching The Wall :D thank you so much for uploading
You're most welcome. Enjoy. :)
They need to release an official version of this song
Biggest mistake they made on the Wall Box Set that came out a few years ago was not releasing the original studio versions of the songs from The Wall in their complete form, mainly In The Flesh? (with the longer intro), The Thin Ice (with the longer piano intro) and The Show Must Go On (with the original first verse) and of course not releasing the studio version of What Shall We Do Now? as intended for the album. Maybe in 2029 on the 50th Anniversary we'll get theses songs released or the original longer mix of the album with everything restored as well as the long sought after and desired Wall 1980 Show on Digital Video from the original Earl's Court Masters (that do actually exist).
This song should have been put on The Wall reissue CDs
this is so close to being perfect. there are very faint cracks and pops at occasions, maybe re-render it in a higher quality format? If you ever do this, would you mind replying to this comment so I can get in contact with you and download your copy? I've been looking for the highest quality version of this song for years and its definitely this, it just needs to be re-rendered.
nvm, the static is from the dvd itself.
It doesn't need to be re-rendered. Any "cracks/pops" heard are from the source material and I have been tinkering with this song since the days of hi-fi VCR's and cassette tapes. This mix is the final one for me, unless an official Blu-ray is released with a new sound mix. My master file is in FLAC format, mastered directly from a downmixed stereo WAV file. The FLAC file is 100% uncompressed. Of course I had to dumb it down to mp3 320kb/s for RUclips.
@@TrayChester01 that was honestly my bad on assuming. I realized shortly after sending my first comment that you had actually removed a lot of the problems inherent to the dvd quality. I do hope a bluray is released although I know it wont be coming but i can dream. Also I didnt mean to come off snarky. Remastering this song is something id do myself if i had the technical knowledge which i dont so thank you for making this. I honestly appreciate it.
If I had my druthers,THIS would have been the version that I'd have included on the album...much darker, more sinister, and, much more fitting lyrically, with Pink's decline.
There is a vinyl out there somewhere. I had a copy. It got stolen. It's cover was of the screaming face. I believe it was called The Film. It started with the little boy
It was a bootleg. There has been no official release of the song.
Lyrics written in 1979 portray how we have progressed into how the life standards are today.
Merge it with the final version of Empty Spaces and you have perfection.
This is 2020 in a song
My man, this is the last 60 years in a song! But I get your point lol.
At this point what song about being miserable isn’t indicative of 2020?
Yeah amagin your town being surrounded by a wall guarded to keep you in threw the hoal cold war. You couldn't see anyone outside the wall including your family and if you tried to escape you wold get shot up. I wold rather have covid.
@@tjprptchable You realise The Wall album isn't about the Berlin Wall, right? This "wall" is a metaphorical one, built by a man named Pink who shields himself from the ones who have hurt him both mentally and emotionally. Look it up on Wikipedia, it's quite interesting.
this is like 100x better than the song that came after empty spaces in the album
why didn't we get this instead??
It was one of a few last minute edits that had to be made in order to get the album to fit on two vinyl discs when it was first released in 1979. Half of this song was edited out and a verse was taken out of of The Show Must Go On. Likewise Hey You should have closed side three but had to be moved to side two. Such a shame that some of these edits were not restored in later versions where you were not quite so restricted as you were in the days on vinyl. Those of us who bought the original album when it came out were somewhat puzzled by the printed lyrics of songs that weren't on the final album.
It's the march of doom.
I would have nixed "Vera Lynn" before tossing out this song. This is like the first-ever heavy metal rap song! :-)
nah, vera is one of the best imo
In the flesh part 2 and the show must go on.
Heavy metal? Rap? You must be joking..
@@JesusGomez-ob2qt *"Heavy metal? Rap? You must be joking."*
... I said the same when a black band attempted "country rap" back in the late 80's. However, that's exactly what they did.
They added When The Tigers Broke Free to the reissue of the Final Cut; come on guys, please add this to a reissue of the Wall
Still don’t get why they cut the best song out of it
It's odd to me that the best song of the album didn't make the album.
Or, at the least it should have been included on a bonus disc somewhere by now. I'd be especially happy to hear the album mix and the movie mix separately.
This song makes me think of a man who has been destroyed long ago only to return a new man no longer good almost dictator like with a rise of power through the years becoming more powerful ready to unleash his new power onto the world and those who destroyed the old him
I forgot about this, heard it before long time ago, it's immense x
Top 10 shouldve beens
Indeed. Then I wouldn't have been screwing around with it for decades from VHS to now, lol.
its all still happening in 2023.
Is there any way you can send me the file as an mp3 or similar? It's a great mix, and I'd love to make as close to a 'complete' version of The Wall as I can
If you look up "youtube to mp3", you can convert it yourself :)
Why is this considered a missing track?
Because it was deleted from the album just before release. It didn't appear until three years later in the film.
Isnt this just recorded from the movie?
There is more to it than that, but basically yes. The source is the movie.
This song is 2020 in a nutshell.
More like 2016 to current, lol. But yeah, I know what you mean. :)
should have put this instead of very or bring the boys back home
