That was most interesting, I have been left two of these machines and a Revox by my old music teacher after he died, he was a cinematographer and recording engineer. Also 268 reels of recordings taken from live radio broadcasts from BBC in the fifties. Don’t know where to start, so watching your video has helped enormously. Thank you.
Thanks very much for posting! I am about to restore a Ferrograph Logic 7 and an SP7, the pinch rollers and idlers have turned to goo, so they're being replaced - I need to construct another lamp before switch on, because the capacitors may have dried out. Shame there's no Logic 7 videos on you tube!
Thankyou for posting. I have a 4A which worked fine but now the capstan motor doesn't run. I have change the capacitor but no change. Please can you advise or point me in the direction of instructions to check the motor windings? Or any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks
i have one of these collecting dust and looking pretty..i lack a power cable and the skill to re-cap..would be a bad idea to find a cable and switch the thing on?
Hi, Ive just bought a series 4, I worked for a short period but then blew a fuse. I plugged in again and I coukd hear melting coming from the transformer! The tape play run lock does not stay out I assume its magnetic stay? But how on earth can I repair this?
I have enjoyed this so much, so I have bought one for myself just now. May I talk to you in a private message as I would love to ask few questions about this unit, and you seem like an expert on these machines! Cheers
Hi there. This is Martin's wife Helen thank you for your message and kind comments. Unfortunately Martin died 3 years ago. A lost talent taken far too young. I still have the ferrograph.
I have one if you want it. Can't get it working as I don't have the correct plug. I did try a new lead inside but it didn't fire up. Voltages were present though and all fuses intact when tested with voltmeter. I don't have a circuit diagram so didn't go any further. You're welcome to make me an offer, but will have to be collected or courier.

Hi Helen, I am really sorry and sad to hear that. I am speechless now. Thank you for replying to my message.
These videos are the only Ferrograph repair videos on RUclips. They are most useful and informative.
