Good to know that the waitstaff at Rico's taught you how to make dipping sauce for lechon which is the most common Cebuano dipping sauce for their grilled and fried meat and fish. The simple concoction of vinegar and soy sauce with a hot chili pepper and Philippine lime (locally called in Cebuano as limonsito) is a signature Cebuano dipping sauce.
Wow I’m amazed how fast you upload, as a RUclipsr myself it’s not so easy editing while traveling.😊 I’m glad you like the lechon! I think I have never tried the ones from Cebu.😢 I’m guessing your next spot will be the the beautiful island.? 😊
Wow, lechon! Most filipinos consider it as luxuriours food being served during fiestas, holidays and other special occasions! You will feel very festive whenever there is a lechon on the table. Yum!
I have been to Cebu City a number of times . Never been two these establishments , and as yet never experienced good Lechon .I keep on hearing how wonderful it is , so I will go to House of Lechon next time . The Lechon at Ricos fails due to lank ( not crispy ) skin . That’s the first thing you expect . Actually the best Lechon I have tasted in Philippines wasn’t even in the Island of Cebu . It was in CDO Mindanao 😅
I agree. House of Lechon is better than Rico's simply because the former uses authentic Carcar-style lechon which is the perfect example of how Cebu lechon should taste like. I once tried dining at Rico's during the early evening for dinner and was very disappointed because the skin was no longer crunchy although the taste was still good. But with Carcar lechon, every time we had our occasional beach getaway to southern Cebu, we always dropped by Carcar City to buy lechon in midmorning (9AM) for our lunch. Every time we had left overs, the skin stayed crunchy all through the evening. That's almost 12 hours since we purchased the lechon from the vendor.
@@davidkhai Agree, House of Lechon is much better than Rico's as the lechon comes from Carcar! Very tasty and crunchy skin. Good thing you went early as their supply runs out easily. Enjoy the rest of your trip in Cebu and the Philippines. Keep safe😷.....Been watching your videos on Oslob, Sumilon and Tumalog Falls.....New sub here.
ey david! been binge watching your vlogs from thailand and here in ph. wow! so great and addicting. please stay making it as true and as simple as they are now - thats making them attractive. 👍👍👍

Who is from Cebu here? David did something hardly seen from other vloggers touring the city which is comparing House from Rico’s. I dunno if it’s the pig’s part served in the latter that makes it look grainy, and chewy. And, the saltiness is also on the downside. But the serving looks bigger and more satisfying. I wonder what are the locals take on this. Good job, David. Very informative, and certainly helpful for people looking forward to visit Cebu sometime in the future.
David spot on mate, best lechon in Cebu.. It’s great that you found the best of best lechon. Good to know.. I can see that you are enjoying in Cebu.. I enjoyed there in holiday with my bestie from here. My perks I guess she had a place there, so convenient.. Indeed, I agree Cebuano Lechon is best I ever tasted. I’m still enjoying your content, thank you From the land of down under ..
These Lechon suggestions are known for the crispy skin and flavor.... try Alejo's Lechon in Banawa, Ayer's Lechon in Banilad, CNT Lechon in Guadalupe, Ruthies' Lechon in Talisay City and the Lechon in Carcar Market
@@davidkhai I'm amazed that you went straight to Rico's from House of Lechon, considering you had a full meal at the latter😜. We do have different brands of lechon as what EmJaySe commented earlier. I may be biased but Cebu probably makes the best lechon in the Philippines!
When you head over to the south, stop over at Carcar City, it's know by locals as the place to be when it comes to lechon. Even House of Lechon says that their lechon comes from Carcar.
Nice. BTW, if you're planning to go further to the south, i suggest you check out Simala Shrine. Tho it is not a historical place, it's more of a religious place. It's actually a very big castle/cathedral with a really regal art style and nice view. There are images in google you can see. No popular youtuber actually vlogs about that place. Maybe just yet.
You do have a japanese looks, a good looking mix japanese guy thats how you really look like. I have been in Japan for seven years and i can say that you do have that looks.
Hi David you can actually ask the owners of lechon restos to give you a tour on the areas where they roast the pig. That way you can have a very good view on how it actually cooks. It'll be a plus too for your blog. More power and god bless😁😁😁
I died when you didn't let the guy know you are not Japanese. He is probably watching this too. 😆Thanks for the review. It's my official reference when I visit.

I miss letchon... I'm little bit drooling and hungry with that letchon sir, a special Filipino dish particullarly in Visayas and Mindanao... lami kaayo 😋
Ricos lechon the skin not crispy anymore bec you are late the whole lechon almost gone. Salty it is the stomach side which we like the most where the spices mix.
The meat in the belly is the best. I had really great lechon experience in Dumaguete and Davao and Zamboanga. But i have yet to try Cebu Lechon. Putting Sisig in the menu made the restaurant less credible though. Spicy lechon sounds fake.
