I know you like catching big catfish. I had a buddy that I used to fish with you know he was a little bit older than me but I read a book on how the natives used to catch catfish. I know I don't have big pictures of catfish that I put on the bank but I really don't want to share pictures with people I don't want to argue with somebody
On how to catch fish or you know people get their feelings hurt you meet some people that you know they're sponsored they got a nice boat they got a big house they got a trophy wife you know what I'm saying. Myself and this other guy we had an old-timer that put up 10,000 bucks cash just to see a big catfish. So I know how to do it I took a grass carp. And I hooked up a 300 pound of monofilament. That will hold a really nice fish I used the log as a bobber then I would use like 100 lb or 200 lb braided twine. Anywho that had attacked myself and the guy that I used to fish with. I mean I used to lay on the bank in a camo tent kind of like a duck blind or a deer blind. We had actually caught a state record. On a fishing pole we had to use a log to actually keep it from spoiling any who we had this old-timer turn it in for us because they said that they had threatened us a couple times with wildlife violations and even threatened our lives guy said you think you're going to pull something out like that and there's not going to be problems I'm telling you I got a problem right here for you he pulled a gun on us. So we had the bright idea of you know letting an old-timer turned it in for us. I didn't care all I wanted was the money I don't want no kind of record or whatever it just brings too much problems. Well we pulled him in one that you know three guys couldn't put in the back of a truck by ourselves he had one of those little cranes that you could swing out and lift parts up in the back of a truck. I took two king-size bedspreads and wrapped it up and we was able to get it in the truck. But the game warden wasn't going to let us do nothing with it because he'd actually seen us floating it down the river with a Jon boat after we got control of it. he happened to see a big old scratch mark on my side and thought it was the old boy that I was running with because he was older he's like that guy trying to hurt you. I said heavens no he would probably lay down his life for me he likes me so much. That guy started trying to say this and that and I said buddy not only did I see it eat a deer but I happen to come up on it one time I watch it eat a beaver... 😂 He thought I was a liar. It will usually kill a big catfish to hook it up. They start turning really bright red what it does is it puts a lot of oxygen in their blood is what I was told people think that those catfish don't get that big butt Ohio zoo actually had a catfish that was like 600 lb they feed that thing as big as your foot. Well they let me bait one up it took a 8-in piece of steel cable a shark cook and then I cut a big grass carp in half but I had it to where I could reel it in it made the office sound ever was it draws a crowd I've hooked up on some big catfish. I used to like catching big turtles too. Big ones it draws a lot of problems when they're that big. Most of the time it'll kill it. And you'll probably have to be on the bank if you do have to use like a buoy or I used to use a log that would float in the river you'll have to use a shark hook and a piece of 300 lb monofilament or 600 lb monofilament tied to the end of like 200 lb twine. I've been looking at one of those big nasty sticks that got rollers on it they're only rated for 200 lb but that would be a good start. I really wouldn't want to catch nothing that's going to kill a huge one but you know you could probably get over that 100 lb a lot easier you got to be super quiet and it usually takes about 3 to 5 days to let the bait set just saying..! what I did was I would wrap the line around a log just like using the line like you would tie up a tree to let it down slow you can pick up on the line and give it slack but you got to be careful because it can break it. If it gets to pulling on it too hard you got to give it slack won't you do hook up or even if you do hook up but sometimes it takes a few times it's not guaranteed every time but I pulled in some big ones for some good money no pictures.

The reason I say use a log it's added friction I'm sure you can understand I've never found a fishing reel that could handle something like that you know I use a 6000 series and I have even used in 8000 for just regular bank fishing. You really need to step up to like a 10,000 or 15,000 series reel even then the drag won't take it you got to use some type of manipulation in order to keep it from tearing your gear up other than using a bank line. I like to take a grass carp about as long as my leg cut it in half. Most of the time you will hook up on a big gar but I have caught maybe 10 just a handful of big fish catfish using that method. If I do pull a big one out we usually eat it. Always go to a nursery and put about 10 or 20 back in to take the big one. I'm very much a conservationist when it comes to catfish

I don't think they make like a chain block for fishing line on a fishing pole as added friction for the drag that I'm aware of..! If you guys are into selling fishing products that's one thing I'm saying for a guy like myself that would hunt a big game fish it would be nice to have such an apparatus

I'll tell you another little story I hooked up on a little small catfish it was probably 40 lbs but I went down to get it out of the water I slipped on the mud and my hand went in its mouth and it went all the way in its mouth to my elbow it bit down on my elbow and started taking his tail and pulling me in the water. I was in trouble there for a minute because it started rolling like a gator it pulled me about halfway out before I realized that I could just stand up on my knees and then I just stood up and walked out of it with a stuck to my arm. I just got excited I barely had it hooked in the mouth you know what I'm saying so kind of jog down there kind of quick and I slipped on the mud
