You got a few small yet important details wrong in connection to The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints (Mormon), though there are a few very different groups called Mormons. First off, Joseph Smith Jr. wasn't told by God the Father nor Jesus Christ to find Golden Plates, that was a few years later by the Angel of God named Moroni. Joseph Smith Jr. did not write The Book Of Mormon, or even dictate it, he dictated the translation from the Golden Plates that God gave him power to understand. And it wasn't his friends with Joseph Smith Jr. who practiced polygamy, like Abraham, Jacob, Moses and David under the permission and guidance of God, only those called by God could practice polygamy in this church, and were free to refuse like any other calling. During the 50 years or so that polygamy was practiced, only 5% of men, and 25-50% of women were involved. Anyone practicing without being commanded by God were Excommunicated from the church if they didn't repent. Joseph Smith Jr. only took on political positions as needed, until his run for President, campaigning to end Slavery, the first religious leader in America to publicly do so. "Mormons" settled most of the Western United States of America.
It is the only one where the first presidency in quorum of the 12 apostles meet weekly. So I would pretty much say that would make it the "Main" temple. I understand what you're saying in that they claim that each temple resides The ability to perform the same ordinances and has the same authority to do so, yet with I believe only one other Temple having a holy of holies, and it being the only one that all the leaders meet in on the constant basis, I would call it the main one. But just my opinion

Yes, that's a common 'reason' people within the Church of Jesus Christ can hold - but it is something of an old wives tale. To quote Elder Renlund: "Very little has been revealed about Mother in Heaven, but what we do know is summarized in a gospel topic found in our Gospel Library application. Once you have read what is there, you will know everything that I know about the subject. I wish I knew more. You too may still have questions and want to find more answers. Seeking greater understanding is an important part of our spiritual development, but please be cautious. Reason cannot replace revelation." Hope that helps! I find the Gospel to make a lot of sense, so if you want to talk out any other issues you see I'd be happy to. Either way, have a good one!
In the words of Jesus Christ the living. "If your leaders say into you, see the kingdom of God is in the sky, then the birds of heaven shall precede you. If they say into you see the kingdom is in the sea! Then the fish shall precede you. Rather the kingdom is within you and it is without you.
And not only that but according to mormo theology, although mother of Mormon Jesus, she's just one wife to the ''heavenly father'' as he has multiple other wives.
At time stamp 21:50 minutes the children sing about going to Bethel. The children sing happily, the music is upbeat, and it is called the happiest time they had. Of course, it is the only non preaching vacation a JW family will ever have. For JWs, even if they can afford a vacation, which most can’t because they are suppose to live “modestly”, giving all they can to the organization, they are required or requested to check in to the local congregation in the area they go to,so they can continue with the weekly meetings and preaching work which is to maintain their good standing in the organization. They are never able to get off the hamster wheel, which is a control measure for these high control cults.

ex mormon here, believe me the deeper you dive into mormonism the less Christian it gets 😅. Their really just a polytheistic religion lossly based on the bible. Ironically Jewdaism and islam feel more Christian. Mormons who say they're Christian usually dont really understand orthodox christianity, and like their core attributes. Its not just about the trinity. So very valid my dude.
It does look kind of weird from the outside when various different groups that call themselves Christians are always saying that they are the only true Christian church and everyone else isn't Christian. It doesn't show a lot of unity. There is a hymn that goes "we pray that our unity will someday be restored".
@jaimetolley2375 most Christians are actually polytheistic as well, although they would never accept that title. There's no WAY they'd accept a label that's also used for those "silly" mythological religions lmfao

I think it's because the LDS guys show up like mid afternoon to early evening and the JWs show up at like eight on Saturday morning. Anyway, great video, thank you!
Every LDS/Mormon I've interacted with has been nothing but pleasant, but the Jehovah's Witnesses have been the complete opposite. A good friend of mine had neighbors who were JW and they were always rude, hostile & standoffish and rarely speak to anyone outside of the JW Church.
As an ex Mormon, if you don’t want to hear them talk, I beg of you please talk to those boys about video games. They aren’t allowed to participate in any media or hobbies not related to the church for two whole years. I'm LDS so can't speak from a JW point of view but I found your video impartial and pretty accurate in most places. You also done a really good job of lacing it with a bit of humour too. Thank you for posting.
The thing active members of LDS should keep in mind: There's Two histories in the Mormon Church. There's the "official history" that the modern day leaders put out in their teachings, books, videos, etc. AND THEN there's the true history of events. Only in the past 20 years has the "official church history" started to include yesterday's anti-mormon lies such polygamy, Adam-God Doctrine, Racism, etc. So when active members come on comment boards and say "Well, you got most correct" You have to ask, is the active member only referring to the modern "official narrative" put out by the church? Non members will often look at what the current historic record shows which has conflicts in the official history. So I'd be interest in what this commenter means when they say "Accurate in most places" and give us some example found in this video.

I think this is overall not an unfair representation of the LDS faith. What I think is a much bigger difference between JW and LDS (at least in my understanding) is how members of both groups interact with the world and especially former members. There is a thirst among LDS for friendship with people who are different that just isn't found anywhere in JW. And shunning isn't really a thing. The fact that probably more than half of LDS members don't attend (at least not often) and there is no real expectation of something bad happening to them eternally is quite a bit more in line with the view of mainline Christian churches than it is with JW

As a Mormon, your description was fair. The only thing materially incorrect was that our prophets and apostles do not claim to be infallible. Joseph Smith said that a prophet is only a prophet when acting in his formal calling. They can and do make mistakes. We now admit that we were wrong in the past (racism and other historical claims) and that all men are products of their time.
Racism hasn't been removed, they still have the dumb story that God is turning people's skin black to make them less attractive... 😂 The last missionaries I spoke with even tried to defend it lol
Brigham Young preached the Adam-God doctrine at one of the general conferences, so he spoke as a prophet then. According to what you write here, it's hard to know what teachings to trust isn't it? And don't tell me I can just get a prompting because I'm sure nearly everyone in attendance hearing the prophet speak received promptings he was preaching the truth. . . or was everyone there deceived?
So if this is true, why would you ever trust what your prophet says if its simply a product of the times and will be overruled in a few years, much like the name Mormon?

It depends - when I was a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ, there were a couple times we ran into preaching JW's - they tended to either be 1) really nice and not want to talk much or 2) bible bash and name call. But that was just my experience. :D
An interesting combo. Both are non-Trinitarian, Christian-inspired religions, but their respective non-Trinitarian theologies are about as contrarian as can be. @Plasma_Snake yes. Many non-LDS people live in SLC itself and in many of the cities. Provo is basically all LDS but ranks as the happiest city in America. Nobody will bother you if you’re not LDS. Your neighbors just might be super nice if they are LDS. There’s no pressure to convert. There is Starbucks, restaurants and bars that serve alcohol and lots of things to do. I only have one family member out of my rather large family that lives in Utah. Most live east of the Mississippi River and prefer it that way.
@Plasma_Snake 50% of SLC is not LDS. You would be welcomed into the community just like any other person. There are churches on every corner but it wouldn’t have anything to do with you. You’d just have your own life like any other person. Many people moved in from California due to housing prices. They weren’t and are not LDS. There are churches and other religions all over Utah including Hindus and Muslims. It’s just like anywhere else, be nice to them and they’ll be nice to you. Fantastic video, I grew up LDS (Mormon) and can see you did a lot of studying to get your facts accurate. the only thing I would say is in regards to the leaders of the LDS church. they see themselves as human and make mistakes often. not a lot of people think that they are infallible there are a few weirdos that believe they are mistake less but that is very few. other then that Ima subscribe because you did a fantastic job explaining a unique religious culture without bashing or degrading.
The distinct similarity is their insistence on strict adherence to the organization of the church. It’s one’s practice of ritualistic behaviors and traditions that keeps them connected to God and hopeful for the afterlife. Neither can profess an assurance of their salvation as they don’t or won’t know if their works and behaviors will merit His favor.
I live a 5-minute drive from Kirtland, where the first Mormon church is located. I'm aware of at least two Kingdom Halls nearby, which take about 2-3 minutes to reach if I catch the traffic light. Interestingly, I've never come across another Mormon church in this area. I just checked, and it turns out the closest one is a 20-minute drive away, followed by another that's 30 minutes away. All I’m gonna say about the JWs out here is they could very easily be a part of our community. They are very close to our downtown and have a giant parking lot. I’m only aware of this parking lot because I’ve been picking my roommate up on Sunday mornings from work. It’s like the bright red ‘parking lot full’ sign is invisible until the last second, and when a Honda Odyssey slams their brakes on in front of me and does a Dallas dive down across traffic and down a side street. It’s just very confusing if they want us heathens to convert or if the art festival is “too worldly”.
Can you make a comparison video between JWs and the Bible Students? As witnesses we were taught that we were called “Bible students” and then Rutherford changed it to “Jehovah’s Witnesses”. But that’s only HALF the story. The “Bible Students” did come from Charles Taze Russell, but they were also a group that strayed away after Russell died. The “Bible Students” were the people who didn’t like RUTHERFORD’S teachings, so today they evolved into the “Chicago bible students”, the “dawn bible students”, and so on. And these other religions from russell STILL EXIST TODAY😅 it’s like 2 million of them all over the world. And back then when the “Bible students” disconnected from Joseph Rutherford, Rutherford got mad and decided to change HIS followers names to “Jehovah’s Witnesses”, so that everyone can tell the difference between HIS followers and the people that LEFT him. He even went to the extreme to change the word “churches” into “kingdom halls” so that he can really stand out in the world.🙊

I am LDS. A few years after the first vision an angel named Moroni appear to chose Smith and it was the angel who told Joseph Smith to go get the golden plates. God and Jesus told Joseph Smith that he would restore the gospel at some later point.
I'm a recent member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints (aka mormon) convert. Thanks for this vid, very informative. I bear my testimony that the book of mormon is true and the LDS church is the restored church in the name of Jesus Christ amen.
There’s ZERO archaeological evidence for the tales in the Book of Mormon. Joseph Smith was a scammer and a pedo. The Book of Abraham it’s false as well. The Mormon cult doesn’t resemble at all early Christianity.
Slight Mormon correction: it’s believed that everyone will have a chance to learn about Jesus in an intermediate period between death and resurrection, so that group of people won’t be in the telestial kingdom.
Strange how such different denominations as these have these odd similarities. I’m a Baptist, meaning I’m from a tradition perhaps overly cautious to the church taking on too much authority or central government. So both of these groups with a central council effectively acting as though they are the authoritative representative of God is a big warning bell.
My GMA was a JW and one thing I’m thankful for is that was her walk she didn’t celebrate anything but she would give my dad money to go out and buy gifts for Christmas and our birthdays. In all things show love regardless of your religion peeps.
I work at a grocery store, and I see people with name tags sometimes. I usually try to look to see which one they are just out of curiosity. It can be hard to tell if someone is a Mormon/Moron or a JW.
The Christadelphians are also a Restorationist, Adventist, baptism by immersion, anti-trinitarian group. Each congregation is considered autonomous so there is no central authority. Because of this there are no standardised rules on shunning and disfellowship but shunning and ostracising definitely do happen and cause much suffering and heartache among members and ex members. Church accountability is largely lacking, allowing them to fly under the radar with issues of CSA and other abuses. Are you interested in including them in further religious comparisons?
To all those people being like “Mormons are cultists destined for hell,” I’m always just like, Jesus said you would know his disciples by their love one to another. I’ve never gotten the impression from the Bible that misunderstanding the incomprehensible nature of God was a damnable offense.

A thing about the Bible that I appreciate very much is that the history presented in it very much aligns with the archeological records. For example, we know that many of the Kings of Israel and Judah mentioned in the Old Testament were real figures because they appear in the archeological record, just like we know who many of the Egyptian Pharaohs are. It tells us that, at the very least, the Bible really is over 2,000 years old and accurately describes the world as it was at the time it was written. None of that applies to the "Book of Mormon." To date, no archeological evidence has come forward to indicate that the Americas 2,000 years ago resembled anything like what the Book of Mormon describes. The Mormon book even speaks of "barley and wheat" being in the Americas. These are Old World crops that didn't appear in the Western Hemisphere until the Early Modern Age when the Europeans brought it over. Joseph Smith was a modern day Muhammad: a false prophet who deceived others for personal gain.

Joseph Smith Jr. did not write The Book Of Mormon, or even dictate it, he dictated the translation from the Golden Plates that God gave him power to understand. Yes, that's a common 'reason' people within the Church of Jesus Christ can hold - but it is something of an old wives tale.
To quote Elder Renlund:
"Very little has been revealed about Mother in Heaven, but what we do know is summarized in a gospel topic found in our Gospel Library application. Once you have read what is there, you will know everything that I know about the subject. I wish I knew more. You too may still have questions and want to find more answers. Seeking greater understanding is an important part of our spiritual development, but please be cautious. Reason cannot replace revelation."
Hope that helps!

That is a great question. The old Halls were built with small windows at the very top. At least the one I grew up did. But that was the only one I’ve ever seen.
I believe it has something to do with the Armaggedon. They believe that they will be protected from the fire when earth burns at the last day. Kingdom halls will be their refuge places.

I think this is overall not an unfair representation of the LDS faith. There is a thirst among LDS for friendship with people who are different that just isn't found anywhere in JW. And shunning isn't really a thing.

This is giving me a headache!! Why would anyone want or need all these rules and how do you pick which rules are the "real" ones?
im just now realising that JW are on Faroe islands, im suprised ive never met them
Which one does phishing?
To all those people being like “Mormons are cultists destined for hell,” I’m always just like, Jesus said you would know his disciples by their love one to another. I’ve never gotten the impression from the Bible that misunderstanding the incomprehensible nature of God was a damnable offense.
The bible also says to be beware of false prophets saying anything not in line with scripture.
You forgot to provide information on the differences between excommunication by Mormans and disfellowshipping by Jehovah's Witnesses.
I think they are both shunned. Ex Mormons are labeled apostates and go into outer darkness.
@@eyeswideopen8570In the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints those who leave tend to shun themselves or make it hard to be around we love them and want to remain friends and keep the same relationship to whatever degree we can but some choose to constantly insult an belittle those around them who choose to believe, or attack the beliefs so it makes them hard to be around. I have an uncle who left and we still talk and love seeing him we just don't discuss religion and he doesn't argue and he is one of my favorite family members. and as for outer darkness you can only get there by having a perfect knowledge. and choosing to deny truth still you have to choose to go there basically. We are not able to judge others and place them in the kingdom of glory only god can do that.
@@twipo912 It's basically the same as JW's.
@@eyeswideopen8570to my knowledge JW tell the family's of those who leave to no longer speak to them where as the actions from the ex members in the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints make it agonizing for others who have their faith to be around them. but if they don't do that we love to stay friends and a happy family.
@@twipo912 I am an ex JW, and my sister was kicked out of the religion and the house at 16 because she got pregnant. We were not allowed to talk to her, not even say hello. She still believed it was the true religion though. After 40 years of shunning her, I became a born again Christian and now have a relationship with her. I apologized of course for treating her so terribly. High Control religious groups divide families, and that is sad.
I wasn't a JDub but I was babtized Mormon when I was 10. Did you know the phrase "and it came to pass" is used approximately 1,430 times in the book of Mormon?!
That's informative and thank you for not giggling so much, like you normally do. Do a video on the history of the Catholic Church, the crusade and burning people alive by the thousands, and the sex scandals that go on in the priesthood today, that would be interesting. Watch the movie SPOTLIGHT with Michael Keaton it's informative
BRO what is the music at the start of the vod? plz sounded like ace attorney or a JRPG been looking for a while can't find it help plz
17:11 He had to inform a mother her son now believes in evolution 😂
Correction actually everyone is encouraged to share the gospel even children like as a kid this is so embarrassing but I gave 2 of my teachers a book of Mormon. One of them was Catholic 😭 and for missions are required for men
A thing about the Bible that I appreciate very much is that the history presented in it very much aligns with the archeological records.
I smell shit when someone took one and didn't clean it up.
They’re both cults.
