Congrats! And welcome to the FE fandom! My first was Awakening, and I've been hooked every since. Engage is SO good! I do recommend playing Normal difficulty since you're new, but do Classic mode (permadeath), not Casual. Reason being, modern FE have turn rewinds so there's never actually any real threat (on harder modes the rewinds are limited but on Normal they're infinite). Even though there's no real threat, it makes it FEEL more threatening with the looming threat of permanent death. It's basically a mind hack. But I kid you not it works. You will enjoy the game SO much more and be far less careless on Classic. And if you do lose a character, just rewind a turn or two and course correct.
@@hannimommy Yep. I was pulling my hair out today cause I couldn't let any of my units die. But I couldn't find it in me go on without them so I had to reset the battle for 4 hours straight 😅
The game is $60, and for an extra $40 you get an art book, poster, steelbook, cards, and a beautiful box. I always think Art books are worth the price, and this one is spectacular. The poster is really good quality (a simple iron and it can be framed), and the steelbook is also great. Most CE's also hold their price over time if not increase. All in all, you can't really go wrong with a CE from the big games. However, Tons of people (including me) recieving damaged boxes and opened seals because nobody protects it when shipping. My amazon shipment just threw the CE inside a big box with not even a single sheet of bubblewrap or paper, it just slid around the entire time and was pretty damaged. And the gamestop people never got their Tarot cards due to such a short supply of them. It's been somewhat of a disaster but not as bad as the Xeno 3 one.
Enjoy Engage! I remember my first time playing a Fire Emblem game back on the GBA. I'm also a Shining Force fan so when FE came to the States, I was instantly hooked. I got to play a few levels on Engage last night. If you never played a game in the series, after playing some of it, I can honestly say that Engage is a good starting point. If I had to compare it to other games in the series, it feels like Awakening, Birthright and Heroes had a kid. Have fun!
Yes, exactly Engage is like awakening and fates except minus the pair up mechanics, but that’s replaced with the emblem rings. Also there’s a lot of shining force inspiration in this one. The movement and even the music uses a lot of flutes, which shining force 3 did for its incredible soundtrack.
@@Tampafan33 Minus the breakable weapons, if you have played a previous mainline game, you will feel more at home with Engage because its more combat focused.

Mine was just delivered from Target, and the seals on both sides of mine were cut open. It looks like nothing was removed, but still. A little off putting for sure.
Same thing happened with mine, had been showing all week after it shipped that it was on schedule for Friday delivery, then updated on Friday morning that it was delayed by weather and would be arriving Monday. Weirdest thing was that the last update showed it leaving a city that is less than 1 hour away from me at 3:15 am Friday morning and then was delayed by weather 5 hours later at 8:15 when all weather between that city and mine were totally clear. Luckily it arrived on Saturday and was in perfect condition.
