  • Bosch belt sander. The Bosch PBS 75A is my latest tool purchase. Planning on using this to help me build some new stairs and refurbish some old ones.
    I wanted power and performance for a good price. Have I found it? Time will tell. Today a first look and unboxing.

      Totally agree. Hard to beat for the price. It’s done a lot of work for me already. Feels like it has already paid for itself.

    hey, probably you worked a lot with this already. i am in front of buying it too, do i need the one with adjustable speed? have you ever felt like you should bought the AE version instead? thx

    • @PaulWarrenEaton
      @PaulWarrenEaton  3 года назад +2

      Hey @Sam , Adjustable speed might really depend on your specific need. I haven't felt I needed adjustable speed in any of the work I've done so far. As for the AE question. Well that I feel really comes down to how much you will use the machine. The Bosch Blue (Professional) VS Green (Consumer) question I think is important if you are NOT a diy'er. Blue gear is always listed as suitable for heavy-duty use. I tend to think of 'heavy-duty' to really mean daily professional use. If I was making money with my tools, then I would probably go with the Bosch Blue tools. But even then I think if you need a tool even for professional use but you won't use it that often, then I'd still go for green. I hope this helps. Of course it's just my opinion and that's based on my DIY projects. I'm very happy with all the 'Green' tools I have.

    Anyone have any difficulties with the tracking screw plate becoming loose and screw seems not to do anything?

    • @PaulWarrenEaton

    Could I use this for shaping knives and removing material from steel

    • @PaulWarrenEaton
      @PaulWarrenEaton  3 года назад

      Hmm.. interesting idea. It will certainly work to remove material from metal. But that’s probably more to do with the type of sanding belts you use. As for sharpening knives... I feel you would be better off with a bench mounted type sander, or probably a better option would be a grinder. Of course it might be possible to mount the sander upside down on a bench. But if you have lots of sharpening to do, then I think a bench grinder would be best.
      Good luck!

    • @beebeesmith
      @beebeesmith 3 года назад

      Yes, one of my favourite uses is to sharpen wood chisels so if you are careful then it should be
      possible to sharpen a knife.with a fine grit belt. Removing rust from steel is fine but the life of the sanding belt will
      be shortened.

    • @PaulWarrenEaton
      @PaulWarrenEaton  3 года назад

      Thanks for this tip. I’ve got some wood chisels that need some love. I’ll try the belt sander on them.

      Only other two ideas that come to mind. Try to blow/knock/vacuum the dust out with the belt removed. And also make sure you line up the arrows. If you still have issues, then try another belt.
      I hope it works for you.

    Would this be good to use on wooden floorboards?

    • @PaulWarrenEaton
      @PaulWarrenEaton  3 года назад

      Yes it can work on floorboards, however it’s not really designed for floors. Of course it will work but you will have trouble getting into corners and it’s hard work on hands and knees for a long time if you have a large floor. If you really need to take some layers off the top of a floor, it might be best to hire a floor sander.
