  • A demonstration on how to convert each drum beat into a ghost note version. Drummers Cookbook is a great book for developing ghost notes from a groove perspective. You don't have to work on rudiments to develop ghost notes. Just simply follow the instructions on this video.
Kudos to John Pickering for creating an awesome book!

Hello Marco-hey thanks for reminding me about this great book I never got it. This would be the perfect complement to Funky primer book, which gives my students the necessary technique to play the ghost notes patterns in the cookbook. You did a great demonstration of how to play ghost notes very clean. Great job!

Hi Marco, really enjoy your videos. I’m glad I found them, your teaching style helps me a lot. I used to have some skills but they’re rusty. I went through this book along time ago never once thought about the ghost notes. So I’m digging in. Thanks

The grooves take on a whole new sound when applying ghost notes. Keep at it Daniel!

Enjoyed this video, my copy of the Cookbook is decades old too. Been doing this ghost note version of the Cookbook a few years now myself, did the equal snare version way back in the day.

Thanks for watching! Really appreciate it. So many notes in these beats that made them ideal for ghost note practice. Thanks for your support! Cheers!

@@WholeLottaDrumming -Been revisiting your videos, I wanted to mention John Pickering's other book: Studio Jazz Drum Cookbook, got it decades after the first Cookbook, and decades after Jim Chapin's (Jazz) book. Pickering's Jazz book is way easier than Chapin's, wish I would have had it early on.
