An incredible season finale in Snowshoe for the UCI MTB World Cup this year as World Cup overall titles were on the line in both the men and the women's elite categories.
After a head-to-head year with Kate Courtney, Jolanda Neff was sitting in the lead with a hair's breadth, which was further narrowed by the results of Friday's cross-country short track race. From the start, Neff pushed on hard but within a few laps, the Swiss National Champion began to fall back slipping into the mass of racers. Staying strong at the front were Kate Courtney, Pauline Ferrand-Prevot, Jenny Rissveds and British athlete, Annie Last. Rotating leaders, the action came to a dramatic climax in the final laps as Rissveds suffered from a puncture which put her out of contention.
Over in the men's field, Nino Schurter was sitting strong after his XCC win on Friday, which secured him enough points to claim the World Cup overall title early. With Mathieu van der Poel out of the MTB race action, the field was open for Henrique Avancini, Lars Forster and Maxime Marotte to battle it out for the stage win. From the get-go, attacks were made each lap to pip one another to the lead.

When some friends asked me what MTB style I do and I said DH, then XC they laughed, I showed them this and asked them if they could do it. They were speechless knowing they can't.

I didn’t realize until now that Pauline and Lars both made their finals moves on the same corner
Nino handed that win to Lars. He even stalled the bunch up in the beginning so Lars could get up front. Once Lars was with him then fumic tried to take out the bunch and get avancini ahead with a gap, but that disgraceful move never paid off.

This is the race finish I remember when I see pauline complaining about anyone cutting her off. She cut off Anne here with 200m to go and won the race because of it.

Those tire changes (due to a flat) are absurdly slow compared to car racing. Are they not allowed to use power equipment? Manually turning a thru axel is sloooow. Design a thru axel with an end that instantly engages a properly torqued power “drill” and you reduce a tire change by greater than 50%.
Geoff Kabush had that kind of system on his bike few years ago. I think it was called ka-bolt not sure why it's not used.

That was disgusting tactics from cannondale racing team. That fall from fumic was deliberate to hold the pack up and get hid team mate avancini a gap ahead of everyone. Thank goodness it never worked.

Men's Scott 1&2. I'm going to buy a Spark 900 today.
I replaced all my bikes this season and Cat'd up, I currently own and race exclusively Scott. So naturally last week I was told I'm eligible for team pricing on Scott bikes next year, oh well, lol.
Just because they pay the best riders doesn't mean it's the best bike. Not to say their bad bikes but there are many other brands making bikes of equal caliber.
Van der Peol was better then Schurter in this season for sure. Every body knows that. And Van der Poel is riding Canyon Lux as we know.

Nobody's using that little sunvisor all "mtb" helmets have?
Because it blocks the view, if you have your handlebars setup so low and like schurter and some others with a downangle you leave the sunvisor. Otherwese you have to ride in a weird angle with your neck...
So epic.
