- Dave and George collaborated to create a small challenge to enthuse and entertain local and visitor pilots over the less booming winter months. It's a little hike and fly challenge, starting and ending at The Lazy Goose café at Eastington. The course is a circuit of some 17km approximately, dependent upon exact choice of route. Since we don't have 'real' hills in this part of the world, this challenge is named 'The Three Tumps'. These comprise; Selsley Common, Coaley Peak and Cam Long Down. Due to the notorious difficulty of getting to the latter, that one has a very generous 800m cylinder, meaning that you only have to reach within 800m of the pin on the ground.
The Selsley-Frocester (Coaley Peak) run is a usually easy ridge run, so the addition of the extra stretch to Cam Long Down just adds an extra challenge to the task.
There is also a slightly easier version called the 'Mini Three Tumps', which omits Cam Long Down.
This is the inaugural attempt by Dave and George as a proof of concept and I ended up tagging along for the final section. A great day it was too.
Please do remember to give a thumbs up if you enjoy the video.
Well captured Mate 👍
