What she's teaching here: 1) Finding the beat 2) Step movement 3) Knee movement 4) Hip movement 5) Shoulder movement 6) Head movement These are the *basics* of any dance. All those "name dances" that come out every few months in high school have a very short shelf life and are *not* good once you're grown up. But if you can really master these basics, you will always look good dancing on the rare occasions, like a wedding reception or a work party. The BASICS are what saves you, not trying to remember those trendy dance moves from 5 or 10 years ago!
Hi. I'm 50 years old. I rarely go to clubs because I don't drink. But last week I was invited to a club. I remembered your tutorials and did the moves on the floor. Well.. apparently it worked because a lot of guys wanted to dance with me and not with the twenty something girls I was with. My friends couldn't stop laughing at how I attracted so many men considering I don't even dance. I must have done something right. Thank you for the videos.
Impressive congrats! It's great you have confidence and it doesn't matter how old you are, either you have it or you need practice and sir it sounds like you have it!!!! Great job!
Nothing gives me more anxiety than casual dancing or just dancing in general. Everybody always just says “let your body move to the beat” or some shit like that and I’m like WHAT DO YOU MEAN???? You’re a lifesaver I’m going to binge all of your videos lol
It's hard to explain. I think it just comes naturally to some people, especially if they're sound oriented. I never learned to dance at all but I can follow rhythm and beat very well. Not about to enter any competitions but I can vibe easily. But I suppose you can learn
I'm not even 4 min in yet but can I just say HOLY SHIT THIS IS A SERIOUSLY IN DEPTH VIDEO! It's amazing! I was expecting quick skim throughs not an actual class explanation! Thank you!
Nice job explaining the rhythm! I have been a drummer for about 4 1/2 years now, and this has one of the best ways of practicing rhythms I’ve found too
I really appreciate how chill you are. Your confidence is infectious... I feel I will be able to break through my awkwardness when I see you dance. Also, great tutorial, I love how you've kept it simple but have not missed the attention to detail
This just comes natural for me ... I'm a dancer and now my daughter has fallen in love with it. A good dancer can be made by training but rhythm, imo, is something that your born with.
I have the dance coordination of a walrus, I've looked up help videos on RUclips all the time, especially seeing how I have to dance down the isle at my cousin's wedding I'm in soon, and videos are all like "haha dance in a box'" or "do this weird arm thing" or some odd hip hop move, and not things that will just make me pass as a normal person on the dance floor, and you go over the basics that they all skip and you teach practical stuff, and it seriously helped me! If anything, they’re probably a bit envious of you for having the guts to have a go! 🙂. Live in the moment and enjoy yourself! It’s like the saying goes, dance like no one’s watching 👌🙂
Thank you for this, video is exactly what I need. I've barely been to clubs so I am so stiff haha. But I am getting myself into dance and I've started ballroom dancing for beginners despite having two left feet lol. and for all of you calling yourselves socially awkward, stop putting yourselves down! Dance is a creative expression of self, meant to be enjoyed 😊. some people like myself need a bit more help but dont let that put you off, just enjoy the beat and rhythm!
You're not alone! And most that are good at dancing have had to also take the time to learn. You're just seeing them after. And better to be a 'snapper' than a 'pointer', lol.
I humbly feel confident that I am one of the most rhythmic dancers in the world just have to prove it.People are always nervous to dance with me so I let them move and then lock.onto them.It actually helps.them dance better as they watch me match them while still doing my thing .Really love seeing their confidence increase as well. You are doing a great thing here and dancing so much fun.Sending love from the US.
I feel like I can feel the beat, bc when the video started, I closed my eyes and got my friend to check if I was on track, I surprisingly was, but I always had a very deep interest in music, but instead of dancing I preferred the singing side. I used to think that dancing was just about learning certain moves and putting them together, now I might do beginner dancing lessons, (after I shape up my body correctly) and try increasing my knowledge of dancing, and try my own style, my own choreography, Thank you so much, you have truly inspired me and helped me! 😊😊
I'm just starting cardio exercises in my workout. I love dance (not very fit for it atm). So I thought I'd find easy beginner dance moves to make cardio fun while learning something new. This may not seem like much to most people, but as I said, I'm not all that fit yet. So this is perfect for getting some cardio going while learning basic dance stuff. Once I'm more comfortable with cardio, I can notch it up in speed and dance moves. Thank you!
This is such a gem ✨ I'm ok with learning dance moves bit by bit but can never keep to the rhythm of the music. Love how you teach us to feel the tempo first - so helpful!

I love you. Thank you for teaching. You are so kind. I can learn from the clips you teach with easy understanding. It's so wonderful what you do. And I really thank you for having a kind person like you.
Thank you for your help, this is exactly what I have been looking for and have not been able to find. Some of us have no idea what the beat or tempo is, so your videos are so valuable, thank you!
Glad I could help! And if you'd like to learn with my feedback, feel free to check out my online program and book a free consultation here: www.getdanceonline.com/ 😊
great video, a lot of the things mentioned i noticed them myself. But if you dont have a music or dance background its very foreign. I always knew about the count but the snare and clap are completely new and its good to know now because that is what would throw me off dancing to a song.
For everybody struggling with rythm... I have been shuffling for years now and i know some complicated moves yet today i found out what i had been suspecting for a while: i cant stay on beat. People have complimented my shuffle a couple times, probably because i have grown into the habbit of making little pauses to get back on the beat after i lose pace. So know its not a terrible thing and know that, for some of us, rythm is pretty tough...

Hell ya! Great video, and exactly what I need…. Go back to the basics!!!!! I look forward to more of your videos! Hell ya…….! Your style and approach…. Is the shiz! Thank you, I’m going to be 60 next month and I am Peter Pan! I vowed not to fall prey to doubters…. I’m learning to play the bass guitar, and I recently started a workout regime that I’m building on as I go along, getting stronger and more flexible! I love dance, I’ve wanted to learn how to dance to the times. Yes you heard me right…. All you Gen X, Y and Zs , do not judge a book by its cover! I have PTSD, been struggling with it for 53 years; after 6 years of therapy, lots of pain…. I want to live now! Seniors, don’t let the stigma that old means decrepit, incapable of taking care of yourself with old, stale thoughts and beliefs! That’s fake news!!!!! Thank you for making a fantastic video!
Let’s dance!!!!
The best thing in dance you teach I am so blessed... if RUclips have allowed to have multiple like I would have given it many likes....Thanks 🙏

Im trying but English is not my first language 😊
Thank you for your help, this is exactly what I have been looking for and have not been able to find. Some of us have no idea what the beat or tempo is, so your videos are so valuable, thank you!

Instructions unclear: I set my pancakes on fire.
How on earth do pancakes come into it?
I’m dead 😂
During quarantine trying to learn how to dance, and being also a introvert... this is perfect.
I’m going into high school and I need to know how to dance to be able to survive
Lol you are correct but just remember it's just high school and you're young. Do NOT forget to have fun.
great video, a lot of the things mentioned i noticed them myself. But if you dont have a music or dance background its very foreign. I always knew about the count but the snare and clap are completely new and its good to know now because that is what would throw me off dancing to a song.
When your friend said your going to have a dance party at her big party next week and you can’t dance.
😂
"Comfortably fit in with people on the dance floor" this woman gets it lol

For everybody struggling with rythm...
I have been shuffling for years now and i know some complicated moves yet today i found out what i had been suspecting for a while: i cant stay on beat.
People have complimented my shuffle a couple times, probably because i have grown into the habbit of making little pauses to get back on the beat after i lose pace. So know its not a terrible thing and know that, for some of us, rythm is pretty tough...
I’ll just stick to looking like I’m on drugs while I’m dancing
Thank you so much for sharing with us how to dance.
