    Great info Tash. It may be obvious, but I'd like to add that it's most important to get each of your colours to be the same consistency as each other for the one pour. Also, as you mentioned, the thinner the consistency, the easier it will be for the cells to move up through the paint. Yet, also the thinner the paint is, the more likely the colours will blend together. With the metallics, I have found that if they are the same consistency as the other paints or thinner, then they are likely to form a thin layer over the top of the colours. If you want cells from the metallics and for the metallics to have lines of their own, then i find having the metallics thicker than the other colours works well. For instance I usually mix my DecoArt Extreme Sheen 24k 3 parts paint to 1 part Floetrol. (I pour into a container three of the 2oz pots of the 24k, then add one pot of Floetrol). Of course, each artist has their own preferences.

      Yes you can 😊 although their consistency may be different so I'd first mix them in totally and only then add medium as needed 😁

  • @babybear4524

    What is the ratio for the ring pour medium and must I use modge podge or do you give alternative recipe's too? What is the most important factor in achieving a great ring pour? Lastly the birds and waves were putting me to sleep and I felt a bit distracting from listening to your great advice. Just some constructive feedback. Thx

    • @HappyArtistTash
      @HappyArtistTash  3 года назад

      Thanks, I have since changed the background music so thank you. The consistency needs to be the tickets for ring pours. It's tough to give a ratio because it depends on the colours you choose and the brand. So try rather get it to look like the thickest consistency in this video 👍😊

    Thanks for that information it's very helpful. Can you tell me what is modge podge? Thank you.

    • @HappyArtistTash
      @HappyArtistTash  3 года назад

      Thank you, modge podge is a decoupage medium, like a glue / sealer. It's used to stick and seal paper to wood for instance. This makes it a good binder for a homemade pouring medium 👍

    Very helpful. Thank you. I am a beginner with acrylic pouring, ..... Help ! .... Please can you tell my why my ‘colours’ are bleeding into my white paint. I use pva, paint and water. The bleeding is more significant with black, magenta and dark purple, although it can occur with other colours also. I use a ‘normal’ white, would it be better to use Titanium white ? The bleeding can happen in most techniques/consistencies . Many thanks

    • @HappyArtistTash
      @HappyArtistTash  3 года назад

      It could be that without a binder our pigments are running into the paints. That's why most pouring medos have a glue of some sort. If you're only using water, you rely on the quality of the pigments. Does it happen even with the thickest consistency?

  • @kimvanrheenen7301
    @kimvanrheenen7301 3 года назад

    Do you add your modge podge to your paint as is and thin after the paint has been added to the consistency you want? The video appears that the modge podge has already been thinned and then added to the paint.

    • @HappyArtistTash
      @HappyArtistTash  3 года назад

      Hi Kim, you're correct I mix mod podge and water to create a homemade medium that's much thinner than store bought ones, but still helps bind. I think it was my 2nd video I made 😊

  • @Dragon100277

    So the thicker the consistency the better for ring pour so it doesn't sink when you add to pouring cup?

    • @HappyArtistTash
      @HappyArtistTash  3 года назад +1

      That too, and less chance of the paints mixing and then your rings keep their form too. But you will need more paint to cover the canvas as thick paint doesn't move much👌

    • @Dragon100277
      @Dragon100277 3 года назад

      @@HappyArtistTash I think the consistency of number 2 should work. Also, when adding paint around the pour to give more flow, is it better to use similar colors? I find that white or black tends to show through the lights or dark colors. But it somehow seems to work for all the RUclipsrs.....Lol. And it doesn't look like using black canvas goes well with light colors. Especially on the edges.

    • @HappyArtistTash
      @HappyArtistTash  3 года назад +1

      I totally agree, I feel like we've Ll watched so many YT videos that use white or black as base colours that we don't feel comfortable to try other colours. I know usually it's because those two have a higher density and are therefore heavier and should stay at the bottom. Unless the consistency of the base is equal or thinner than your colours. I'd definitely stick to your similar colours that you'd use in your pour, that way there's no mixing, as you say 😉

      Yes you can I would probably try 1 to 1 ratio as the glue is quite thick right??

    Has anyone discovered the correct S.African house paint to use in a successful Bloom Pour Technique, yet?
    I have tried, and tried, with NO SUCCESS, it is so demoralising, yet I can't give up, not yet anyway.
