Episode 6: The wilderness - epic canoe adventure

We still have more than 600 kilometers to do on the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. It's getting remote and wilder the more we go north. We have some of the longest portages to do, big windy lakes to cross, the cold weather is coming, the famous mud pond carry to tackle and hopefully see some moose!

We are Zoë and Olivier, together we are WeLeaf. We are travelling around the world on human power since September 2016. We left Amsterdam by bicycle, hitchhiked across the Atlantic Ocean, cycled the Americas, north and south, hiked on the AT and did the complete Northern Forest Canoe Trail. Beautiful! Grateful, thank you for these videos of the NFCT. I'm a regular traveler of the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. Planning my 11 adventure in this water. Although I have done other sections of the NFCT, I've not considered the full trip until watching you. I wish you both a long and meaningful journey.

Yes!! It's a hidden gem :). Only fifty paddlers a year try to do the whole thing. That's nothing compared to the long distance hikes in the US. But the trail is so beautiful and deserves more attention!

Ive watched the nfct episodes a few times now. close to my home in NJ Love it. The moose at the end is one of the most beautiful scenes ever. Thank you!!

Thanks! It's such a beautiful trail! And yes, the moose was one of the most special moments of our trip. Everybody told us that we would see lots of moose, but after 45 days we didn't see any. Finally, on the Allagash River we saw 2, and the next morning this one was waiting for us :)

Prachtig die beelden vanuit de kano! Wat een landschap. In Scandinavië kun je volgens mij ook nog veel mooie kanotochten maken. Ik krijg spontaan zin om ook eens in New England te gaan fietsen....

Dankjewel Martien! New England is absoluut een aanrader om een keer te gaan fietsen. We raden wel aan om in augustus/september te gaan. Dan zijn er veel minder muggen en black flies, en je hebt de prachtige Indian Summer. Vanaf oktober wordt het gevoelig kouder met kans op sneeuw.
