There exists a moment, connected to a sound or song, that signifies a period of peace and growth as a human being. This song exemplifies such a time, at least in my life. 1991, I got the cassette album around September that year. 1 bedroom apartment, a 1979 AMC Concord DL, and a stable job. I was at least proud of myself. Over several changes in life, and plenty of not so peaceful times, I have found this song the most recognizable "Patronus" of that era. Thank you for creating such a wonderful portrait of inner harmonies.
Saludos cordiales
I used a lot of Audio Therapy in my recovery from a Traumatic Brain Injury, TBI. This piece and all the collaborations with David Lanz. When needing to find a place of solace, this music would just help me, audially, spiritually, and giving me a physical smile, for just a moment of peace. I'm now in 2023, 38 years post-injury. This music is really, really important to me. There's no way to sugarcoat it, my TBI was from being shot twice in the head. Music has been a guiding force in my recovery.
JeepDad - Thank you for sharing this. We have been made aware of how much our music and videos have helped those like you and many others confined to hospitals, hospice, and home care. David and I are very grateful to know our work has made such a positive impact in this way. It really means a lot to us. ❤
@@PaulSpeerMusic Thank you for responding Paul, it means alot. I first heard you and David with Behind the Waterfall, played alot on the San Diego JAZZ Station in the '80's, KIFM. My injury happened in 1984 in North County San Diego and the timing for healing music was perfect.
To Paul & David - I heartfelt thank you for Desert Vision. Whilst on holiday in the South West USA in 1994 I came across your music at the tourist centre of Arches National Park - the video was playing on a loop. I bought the video and CD. Sadly the video was lost over the years so it is amazing to see them on here again. I still have the CD and this track was played at my wedding in 2000. Thank you again to you both.
This is the greatest music to Drive to. In a 90 minute tape. I listened to this whole long play album. So relaxing. When you are driving Thur the Desert and 600 miles a day in an 18 wheeler through 48 lower States and Canada.
I first heard this song on a Louisville station that, for a short time, played smooth jazz 4 hours/night. It took some doing, but I found a store that would order it for me and have enjoyed it ever since...Thank you, Mr. Spear! Warmly, Al
First time I heard this song was in 1994 on the IASCA test disc. You have to hear it on a high quality stereo. The bass notes are moving and the highs are spectacular. A wonderful piece.
I first saw this video in the 80s (only once ) it influenced me to where now I play the Native American flute and live where these "Desert Vision" videos were filmed. now that I'm here and see these again., my heart is recharged. Thank you.
My pleasure. It was wonderful music to relax to. Add to that the video tape back then it was wonderful visual and auditory stimulation. My personal favorite were the semi fast flying scenes through the clouds and fading sun. It was so beautiful.
My wife & I moved to Los Angeles in ‘87 to start our new lives as newlyweds. We made crap money at first, then my wife was injured at work, so all we could afford was a tiny apartment in a miserable part of town. The only highlight I remember from that trying time was a new radio station called 94.7 The Wave. Their slogan was “The soundtrack of Southern California“. They played magical, intoxicating New Age music like this. Those were hard times for us, but hearing the music, now, warms my heart to remember the good times we also found. It wasn’t all bad...we survived! Moved from California in 2017. Married now over 30 years, in fact. Eventually, moving further away from the 90s, the radio station kept the name, but the music changed to the familiar, tired hits the general population knows. SO thrilled to find this music again on RUclips!!
Thanks for sharing your story, Bill. I miss stations like The Wave...there were many in the 80s and 90s but all gone now. What is left is Spa68 on XM and Soundscapes on Music Choice cable TV. Also, many specialty programs broadcasting weekly shows. The streamers usually have David Lanz and Paul Speer Radio which can be quite similar to The Wave. We appreciate your support!
Saw you and David Lanz at the Park West in Chicago back in the mid 90s and you played this. It was a wonderful concert. I miss hearing this on radio. Thank you for posting!
I love this track, nearly moved me to tears. A beautiful compliment to Behind the Waterfall. Certainly going down as one of my favorite musical scores!
A dear friend played this on the air one night long ago - I fell in love with it and used it in my final dance performance before cancer surgery....so many fond memories - this music spoke to me so strongly - at one point in my performance simply used finger movements to interpret... thanks for the beauty for my heart and soul.......
The Desert Vision video came out in the 80's, just around the time I was having my own personal discovery of the Southwest, especially Utah's canyon country. The music captures the wild spirit of the place.
I have loved this one since its release, one of the most beautiful, uplifting pieces exemplifying the joy and preciousness of this planet and her systems. I long for the clear skies and clean rain now something of the past. Thank you Paul you are a very talented musician with great heart and Spirit.
Lived in SLC, Ut. and spent most of my vacations and a lot of calling in sick added up to 11 months time exploring Canyonlands and Bears Ears. Bought the tape and DVD and it's BODY RUSH FORCE 10 everytime I watch. THANK YOU.
...a friend of mine at work brought this into work back in 1988 and have listened to it numerous times..."Desert Visions" is by far their best yet...I went and bought the CD and listen to it a couple times a year ever since...superbly done...
I had dessert vision on a cassette tape. I was driving 18 wheelers for Marten transport. From 1989-99. This was my desert. Sound Trax. Relaxing while Driving a Million miles. Thru 48 states and Canada. The whole Album was great. Some of the photos I saw from Monument Valley which this song sounds great driving Thur
Simply put... the most emotional music of my era. From the first listening I was captivated. Turned me / tuned me into a whole different type of music I never heard before. Moving forward....
I'm glad I still have Desert Visions on VHS as the DVD is pretty hard to come by. Between this and Eagle's Path, both are my favorite pieces from that CD and VHS.
Jeez, now the hunt begins for this Dvd. A pleasant surprise to find here after years of listening to old Hearts of Space tapes I made and later bought Cds.
Que puede uno decir de seres tan maravillosos como Lanz y Speers...Dios los guarde en su seno y nos dejen solos con tanto monstruo existiendo...abrazos a la gente de buena voluntad 😊
Paul Speer youre welcome. Ive loved this song for years. Took me aboout 10-20 years to find the song A Little Night Music by Mozart. I knew it was Mozart but didnt know the name of the song. I asked a radio station here. Lol
I used to wake up to this or Rain Forest (I don't remember which) as my alarm was set to a locak easy listening station when I was in high school. I've loved it since. I got one of the CD's and just ordered this one.
In the late 80's, I found this song on the Canyon Dreams video produced in 1986, in the documentary section of Block Buster video. Still love it today as much as I did back then. A timeless piece of music.
Hey Paul! memories are some of the most precious gift we have and unfortunately it will soon fade away. I have been to the bottom of the Grand Canyon 28 years ago and as magnificent as it was, this video made it again as close to being there. Memories once more brings me to my once strong and able youth. Thank you and David for a million years and for sharing your grand talent.
Ah this New age music brings back such good memories. I remember watching the Video's to this track desert rain on the Landscape channel , back in 1988/89. My cousin and I were 10 and 11, and we used to lay on our bellie's most of the weekend just submerging ourselves in Desert Vision and Natural States. About four years ago I rediscovered this music in moments of Nostalgia. I then finaly bought hard copies of the two Narada albums via Rainstorm Records. Regds & Peace Jonathan UK/GB
Saludos y bendiciones. Namaste.
+Paul Speer I've been watching your other videos and am so relieved I found out who's made this music. My dad played the Desert Vision album a lot when I was growing up but I didn't know who made it or what it was called. Lots of good memories are flooding back. Just want to thank you for making this great music. It says a lot that I can still recognize the distinctive guitar after not hearing it for over 25 years
I bought this CD years ago for this one song, played it for friends and maybe some who wer not such good friends for some stole my copy. Thank you for putting it online it was a welcome memory of a better time when i had good friends.
I have always loved this song, ever since the first time i heard it on 100.3FM (KLRS), waayyy back in the days. Not long after, I bought my first CD...Natural States. Ha! Even before I had a CD player. Kind of my incentrive to purchase one.
I bought the CD years ago for this one song, played it for some friends and maybe some who maybe were not. One of them stole my original, since then I have heard other sonds were named the same but none were of the same. Now that I heard this one I know which I need to buy to add back to my collection. Thanks again posting it.
This one and behind the waterfall seem to me to be connected , both visually and musically .💐 it is almost as if the two pieces are mirrors of each other , in the respective ecosystems.
Yes, they are connected. We wanted to create a piece similar to Behind the Waterfall but with a different approach. That is why we decided to put them together in a medley for the concerts.
Beautiful, beautiful music that just transports me................And the video is awesome as well. Thank you so much for sharing and making me happy this morning
DEUTER who is playing the Ocarina on this; went on to be a very popular new age artist as well. Check out his song "Flowers of the Amazon:". Happy and Joyful music.
Actually, Richard, Deuter is playing a recorder on this track and on many others from Natural States and Desert Vision. I haven't heard Flowers but happy and joyful is a good way to describe his wonderful music. 🎹🎶🎸🤩

Realmente maravillosa y grandiosa no hay palabras solo escucharla.
Muchas gracias, Gerardo.
MIRACULOUSLY SOOTHING! Perfect for losing oneself in a purely solo dance with nobody around.

You're welcome, Glenn, and thanks for the kudos. The Park West audience was awesome. We had terrific radio support in Chicago.
This dvd is so awesome it's awesomeness is beyond awesome! Thatnk you Paul and David for making something that will live with me forever!
I love this track, nearly moved me to tears. A beautiful compliment to Behind the Waterfall. Certainly going down as one of my favorite musical scores!
I also get moved to tears when I listen to both hymns. Well it depends on my mood. Is like a kind of music of the Gods.
Words will not suffice,Mr. Speer and Mr. Lanz but thank you for your music.

What a great song, Mr Speer! reminds me of "Behind the waterfall"! both songs are anthems.
We did make it sound similar to Behind the Waterfall but still stand on its own.
Thanks, it really produces a unique beautiful sound.

@MrDAVIDEO84 So true. Jan Nickman and the crew had to shoot this during springtime. They were quite fortunate to catch some good rainstorms.
You're welcome, Jerry. I appreciate your kind words.
