Duvalin! I used to love that as a little girl the 3 color with chocolate in it too. Conchas is how we name that colorful shell bread, they’re so yummy. 💕 this is actually so cool. I’m Mexican and here in my border town it’s crazy that they never did this for us. So cool ☺️
Q&A: if you teach all content areas in your room (I assume you do), how do you fit in every content area lesson in a given day and/or week? From literacy, phonics, math, science, social studies, SEL, read alouds, small group work for ela and math, occasionally a “working” snack, to pull out services and the many specials, I almost never achieve what I have planned in a given day. I know it’s common to “not have enough time” but you seem to take on each day as a new one and not be worried about what you didn’t yet finish. Any advice is appreciated!
I wish I had seen your video before Nov. 1st. My homeroom class has several hispanic students and they were all excited to tell me about their celebrations after the fact. It would have been a great learning experience for my non-hispanic students and myself! It would have also given a sense of pride to my hispanic students. I did enjoy hearing about their celebrations and the food and treats they had. I have it on my calendar for next year! I love how you strive to teach your students about different cultures.
Great way to incorporate Día De Los Muertos. I enjoy watching your videos and getting ideas. Question…Does your school provide you with funds for your expenses? Can you share ideas as to how to collect books for the classroom?
Love the representation! Toocoolformiddleschool recently posted that she has a theme each month for students’ books and I think it would be cool for you to also incorporate other cultures to your curriculum too! Keep doing the great work!
Q&A: do you find it difficult to dedicate so much time to work and also pour into your personal life and relationships? I often find that when I make plans for one day or night each weekend, I have trouble balancing the many work obligations that are on my to do list.
I teach 6th grade and I ended up bringing Pan de Muerto to share with all of my classes. I had brought only two of them one with sugar and the other with sesame seeds. However, it wasn’t going to be enough with two so ended up buying more and that was filled with caramel mousse which I didn’t realized until I shared it with them!!! They loved it!!
What a fun week! I spent my last week setting up my November Classroom setup and I actually created a video about it if you’re interested! Also love you editing that you do! What camera do you use?
What are the differences between teaching primary grades and upper elementary grades??? I’m a junior in college currently studying elementary education

Another great Dia de los Muertos book is The Dead Family Diaz - I found it in college and the story and illustrations are gorgeous!

What time does your school starts and end? It seems to start way later than my school does.
Are your daily slides mandatory for your school or just your preference? Wear what is comfortable to you and don’t worry about what others say.
No I just like to make them because it really helps me to stay on track throughout the day! ☺️ Thank you, Marisol!
Will you put a Christmas tree in your classroom ?
What is your favorite holiday to celebrate with students?
