So in the context of the story here, Charles Muntz went crazy in South America and turned himself into a giant bird that he would present when he comes back, however he never turned back to normal and decided to just stay as the giant bird
Meanwhile Mr Frederickson is a senile, sadistic, violent, brony, Charles-Muntz-denier who travels to South America with Russel, only to return back home and get arrested for attacking Russel. Then he escapes and brings Russel back to South America to abandon him with a raving Doug.
I think he just edited out the blimp fin, C.M. did break open the door towards the end of the movie. But you can tell by the background music that the clip of him hitting the door is repeated in this.
