  • Let's talk about Bert, Brinn, and Falcon transmissions. I'll give you my take on each of these and why I prefer one over the others.
I also touch on my choice of bellhousing setups and why there are some I refuse to work on.
I also touch on a trend in racing which is destroying rear ends.

The 1 Lever Shift Trans are allowed in the IMCA Mods

I’m trying to decide if the Bert flexplate/flywheel is a power upgrade on a crate motor I been researching the specs they look to weigh about the same but with the Bert being a smaller diameter than a stock flexplate

I don’t know. I’ve never been a fan of the Bert Bellhousing / Starter deal, or similar makes. The only one I really trust or even want to work on anymore is the Quarter Master deal. I know their expensive, but the reliability factor way out weighs the cost. As per performance. The smaller flywheel might be an advantage, but it’s just not worth the headaches. Thanks for watching.

@@KevinKatzenberg 10-4 I currently run a blowproof bellhousing with the standard starter on my 604 and I’ve been weighing the options of the switching to either the Bert or the quartermaster reverse style for the performance gain that may come but so far my research has shown little to none to justify the cost right now

Im assuming these are recommendations for late models? what kind of late models?

I think of it as just general mechanical reliability; mods or late models. Of course, the bell housing suggestion mainly for late models. I think both late models and mods use quick change rear ends now.
For transmissions, I think the crate late model would benefit the most from the 2nd gen Bert just because they are lighter and I think may have less rotating weight.
      Thanks for watching.

@Hogan Technologies rotating weight not 100 percent sure but the Bert 1 lever shifter has or uses a chain where the Brinn 1 lever does not use a chain
And there are different lengths as well.

@@madjack7979 the Bert does use an internal chain. I’ve been inside the Bert and I really like the design. I’ve never been inside a Brinn one lever design. Thanks.
