In today's video, we are reviewing a 2004 Toyota 4Runner with 196k miles. We purchased this vehicle from a private party here in Colorado for only $1900, making this the cheapest running and driving 4Runner for sale in the nation (for this year). We also announced our first giveaway! Instructions are in the video, and a link to the product we are giving away is worth over $100!
adamspolishes....
the way he down played one of the greatest trucks ever made
Fr
196k is not a high mileage for this car. I can't believe you got it for only $1900. Get me one too 🤣
Seriously, i just got a 05 with 210k for 5k
Choghoree Karakorm I’m looking at a 05 with 227K asking for $4300 on Craigslist
Where can I find one for 1.9k..
Just got an 04 with 214k for $1.5k
@@D_Series22 I'm upgrading from a 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara, it's got 177k miles on it and it's falling apart lol. Although the 4Runner has more miles, they're known for longevity so I couldn't pass it up. The one I bought has some surface rust on the frame and no other problems, but hell I can't pass it up for that price.
Stoped watching when he proved he had no idea how to get up a simple dirt mound
That's not the only mound he'll never get in..
@@ktbowersbellsouth😂🤭
Bro that first mini hill you drove up on wtf are you testing it on that for lol, my dude a Camry could go up that...
Your Camry would go up that.
I own the same vehicle as you are testing 🤭😉
Oh for crying out loud, mom needs her grocery getter back to get little brother to soccer practice. Seriously, I enjoyed this video...I am old enough to remember when you tube was full of videos like this... brings back good memories.
My 97 4runner has 295k miles on it. 196k is nothing to these trucks
Would you recommend to buy a 2003 4runner v8 4.7 with 245k for $5,300? Private sale? Thanks
Osvaldo Ordaz That’s a decent deal but I’d try to negotiate a few hundred off of what their asking if I was you. Also check the frame for rust that can be a killer on old Toyota’s
Man not even close. I have a 2005 limited 4th gen v8 4runner and it has awesome performance! And there is no way 33 inch tires would fit in stock configuration like you said. I have a 3 inch bilstein lift with 33 inch Ko2's and there was still some rubbing I had to take care of.
Good to know, thanks for the info!
Yea just trim the front plastics and your good.
My 2004, I got toytec lift 3", spc control arm, on pro comp wheels and 285/70/17 ko2..
Agreed. Without at least a slight front lift you really need need to stick with stock tire size.
He's not even old enough to drive, puberty hasn't even hit him yet
Thanks
@@colocars keep doing what you doing, haters gonna hate.
Being a paid for Toyota 4X4 SUV in decent condition is both "great" and "special" by those virtues alone. I paid a lot more than $1900 for my 4Runner and it was still a good deal. Price a new one and you'll see.
I got 304,000 on mine. Paid $500 runs, drives, and looks mint. Been daily driving it and even delivering pizzas in it for over a year now.
This is a really good suv man
6:59 I don't think you were on 4h. There is procedure to put it on 4h. If the diff was locked that rear left titre should have been pushing. It wasn't even moving. If 4H was blinking it wasn't engaged.
I bought a 2004 4runner for $1500! It’s not as nice as yours though 2wd v6 with rougher interior and 220k miles. It needed work but I got it on the road for cheap.I wish I had the 5 speed 4wd and maybe the v8 if I could choose. But so far this has been a great vehicle for what it is and what I got it for. It’s been in one accident since I owned, (I wasn’t driving) and it took it like a tank! The 2018 Honda CRV wasn’t as lucky. And about the speed being nothing special, I come from small 4 cylinder sedans like a 1993 Corolla, Chevy Cruze 1.4 2019 Camry, 2011 Grand Caravan, and my own 2002 F150 5.4 and the 4runner will “out4run”everything except for the dodge (the Chrysler 3.6 with the 6 speed is a bit of a rocket). The 4runner is not at all slow and will probably keep up with Honda civics lol. Some guy in an older Chevy Silverado 5.3 ,4 speed probably, tried racing me but the 4runner walked away. It’s a good little truck with some power to!
Nice kicks. What are those shoes? They look like Converse mid-tops but different.
3 years later I just bought one with 188k for 9500
You need to learn what ATRAC is, and how to use it. Sounds like you have some of the basics down.
PS: 196K miles is NOT a lot of miles, to a TOYOTA that is.
that's not high mileage. My old V8 4Runner had 418k miles on it, that is high mileage and even then on a 4Runner that's perfectly fine
Sounds like a lot of bitter old men are jealous they couldn't get a deal on a 4runner like these guys, the video was not great but don't deserve all the hate its getting.
I call b.s. on the price. Perhaps you purchased from a family member. I'm born and raised in CO (just sold my house in the Springs and moved to DTC) and 4runners command a much higher price. Bet. Prove it...
Glad to see there’s still people born and raised here! I’m not sure how we’d prove it, so you’ll just have to take our word for it. If it makes you feel better though, we bought it from a friend of a friend.
Nice vid, obviously a steal. Keep up the good work, Toyota’s fan base is probably the most extreme as you’ve foundout. But the 4Runner yotas are some of the most coveted on and off road vehicles. Love mine🙏🏻
Nice video, I’m currently looking at a 2003 4Runner in NJ with 191,000. I just need something to get me on a beach so I can surf fish. I think this may be what I’m looking for. Do you still have this vehicle how’s it running now?
We still have it and it is running great!
Not trying to be a troll but I've never heard locking in the center DIFF..... Diff is short for differential . . ..transfer case in center....... or do Toyota's actually have Factory locking differentials??
You’re way more basic than this Toyota is.
Adam Brantner I think you are too
I’ve found one with 202k miles for 4500
Here in Cali that 4Runner would’ve gone for 5-6k easily
We got quite lucky!
Pretty sure the miles were rolled back
En venezuela $15.000🇻🇪🤣
You need some slacks or jeans , and tuck your shirt in. Looks like you just woke up
The reason people buy a 4runner is because it gets you home.
I grabbed one for 1500
gregory m where? Why so cheap? What year?
Gave 2000 for a 2003 with 237 k
Chicken little
Nice video 📹
Maybe not being such a city boy would help u get up the hill!

Note to self: fly to Colorado, buy a 4runner for cheap, drive it to LA, PROFIT
Best of luck with that. I lived in Denver, Colorado for 5 years and 4runners were outrageously expensive there, I bought a 2009 4runner v8 4x4 in Denver and it was $14k. However, they are pretty cheap here in Tucson, Arizona.
STONKS
@@knives01ng seriously, 4Runners out here might be more expensive if anything. Can find a RWD model for a steal here though.
196k that's cute 😂
🤣
the result of legalized marijuana mixed with millennai
As long as he doesnt say all religions are the same...i think were good
lol
You sound a bit spoiled. Most kids your age would be excited that they had that vehicle for that price. Like someone else mentioned those usually go for more than double that price with that many miles or more. It seems in really good shape., as long as the frame is rusted out.
I ass just thinking that
Perhaps underappreciated
Lmfao this dude said steep dirt hill!! 😂😂 that shit made me spit out my food laughing.
You actually spit out your food?
Colorado Cars yeah I really was not expecting that man. I was looking into getting myself one of these bad boys and that caught me off guard. There’s some other videos of these thing climbing some butt puckering stuff no problem. In a 4runner that steep dirt hill was just a Sunday drive in my opinion. I have one now and it’s the best vehicle I’ve ever owned.
$1900 with only 196k miles? THAT'S A STEAL!!! GREAT FIND KID!
I just picked up a 2004 Sport V8 195,000 miles for 2000..In shop now for a 3in lift,wheels and tires to start off with..Hope I got a good one
Stuart Little?
Thank you!
WORD, Sis!! And his lady is, Thumbelina!!
196k is just getting started. my 2007 has over 300k on it and still drives perfect
how’s head gasket. replaced?
Nice ride. But giving us the “performance “ characteristics of a 4runner from 20-60mph is probably the least important thing anyone buying a 15 year old 4runner would be concerned about.
A Honda civic would've made it up some of those hills.
Too bad a honda civic isn't 4x4 and body on frame. Civic can't compare to a 4runner. Especially if you heavily modify it.
felt like i was watchin napolean dynamite do a car review especially at the beginning.
🤣 exactly what I thought
In Kansas City the cheapest 4th gen 4x4 is 5k with 220k miles
We defiantly got lucky, Levi!
It’s like that here too. 7-8k for one with like 220-250k miles.
I just snagged an 03 in damn nice shape. Not perfect aesthetically 149k mileage for $4995 V8 Limited.
V6 in houston is 5k jan 2020.
Wow. I looked at a 2004 Toyota 4Runner with 150k for 6,400$ that looked no where near as good as this 4Runner with 196k and only 1,900$. Same color too.
We got super lucky, Karma!
My 2004 cost me 6,900 at 165k with blown headgasket..you definitely got lucky
In the beginning of video, you say that you will tell ua everything it needs before it is safe to drive...alluding that, at $1900, it had major issues. What's the story there?
Hi Yo-yo, luckily there’s no story. It needed a road-force balance, lower control arms, all new fluids, new pads and rotors all around, and a new windshield. There’s some seepage from the diffs, but it’s not urgent.
Bruh. The only way you got that for 4x4 4runner with less that 200k mi for $1,900 is if it's stolen or the frame is completely rusted out. I personally think your mom might be mad when she sees you're off roading in her vehicle.
If none of those are true I got $4k cash in hand. I'd love to put some profit in your pocket.
Not stolen, not rusted, and not moms- just got an amazing deal. Keep an eye on Craigslist, you can probably find one too. It just takes patience and a good negotiation tactic. As for the offer, we use it as our work truck so it’s not for sale!
@@colocars yeah. I've been looking for almost 2 years now.
I love Toyota 4 runner
We do too!
Original battery huh lol
4wd doesn't matter if you already have the bumper dragging
True that my man!
His mud flap was dragging..
V6.... gross. Get the 4.7 or nothing. The 2Uzfe is arguably one of Toyota’s best engines. And as far as an overhead cam V8 goes, about as rock solid as it gets.
The basic features are what make these Japanese SUV’s so reliable. Added electronics bring complications with age. And if a person wishes to have common 2019 convenience like CarPlay, Bluetooth, OBD2 diagnostics, all they have to do it is install a aftermarket double din stereo with touchscreen from Alpine, Pioneer or similar. Very low cost solution
Sublime203 I’ve worked on hundreds of 2UZ-FE’s. Many have gone double the mileage without any timing belt issues. Timing belts break due to tensioner failure, or water pump. Pretty apparent you have little to no experience with either. I’ve seen just as many timing chains break as the 4.7 belts. But definitely enjoy that turd of a V6👍🏻
Sublime203 Thanks for clarifying. The thing is, the 4.7 V8 is one of the best engines Toyota ever built. The reason they opted for a timing belt revolves around design and valve train harmonics. Timing belts are superior to timing chains in every respect besides maintenance(Toyota recommends you change the belt on the 4.7 V8 every 90k miles). But I get not wanting something that requires that type of service when you can’t just do it yourself. It’s about a $1000 job depending on where you go. But again, if you want the best engine in a 4th gen, the 4.7 V8 is it.
Also, being a cook is just as important as being a mechanic. Hell I can’t hardly make a cheese sandwich to save my life, so cheers to your culinary craft. Take care
I have an 03 V8 and it was dead simple to slip in one of those Bluetooth adapters behind the stock radio and now it works beautifully for audio streaming as well as hands-free phone. If I recall it was about $85 including the mic. It’s so peaceful to finally have a car without this big bright screen staring you in the face!
I have 2006 V8 246,000 in perfect condition
Love my 08 Grand Cherokee, but down the road I'm definitely switching to a 4Runner! 😃
What’s Harry Potter doing reviewing cars? Just kidding 😁 You’ve got another 200,000 miles left, don’t abuse it.
Ha! Remind everyone that looking younger than you are is a gift! I didn't start shaving until I was 21, continued to get proofed into my 30's and now look like I'm 50 years old at the ripe old age of 71! You may still be driving that 4Runner into your later years!
Too much hate in the comments. I was shocked at how informed you were making this video considering you appear younger than most car RUclipsrs. Good job man. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!
Love this car!
This boy is a fool
Why?!?!?!
Tell me more!!!
It definitely has performance. You just never went off road and drove it like you stole it.
I bought a 2004 sr5 4wd with 245k miles for 2000 dollars
Ugly music..
Is this guys old enough to have a drivers license
Yes.
Wesley Johnson are you old enough to be on RUclips?
I just bought a 2005 Toyota 4runner sr5 V6 for 2k 200,000 miles no issues at all
You're missing the point...
I will pay that price without thinking about it beautiful runner
Obviously I clicked on the wrong video!!
My guess is for the price the underside has a bit of rust or it has been in a accident, they generally never go for this sort of money even with these miles in good shape
Sounds too good to be true or possible that the the owner really needed the money for emergency and needed the money ASAP.
Shit driver 😅
Driver error why approach at the angle 🤔 duh!!
Looks very clean, please dont ruin it
Looks absolutely great for 04! Great find!!
I just bought one for $75
That’s a solid 4 runner especially for the price. Given the year and the mileage you’d pay at least double here in Massachusetts for that and it would be a rust bucket. I’m looking forward to seeing that thing do some serious off-roading. Have you had to do any repairs or preventative maintenance?
Hey! We couldn’t agree more, we were happily surprised with the condition after buying it. So far, we have changed the oil, replaced the lower control arms, and have had all the major fluid changes. Summers almost here in CO! We’ll keep you updated on our expeditions!
You basically got it free
That's really cheap compared to the market I live. Great bargain.
Yeah i’m not aware of any 4th gen ones with clean titles that sell for much less than $10k around here. So you got a killer deal. Unlike most cars the mileage doesn’t really matter, as long as it has been maintained correctly
I doubt that’s a 14 year old battery.
$1900 what a great deal!
One of the best vehicles ever made
Why’d they sell it for so cheap?! That’s great.
Found on autotrader? What were the circumstances?
A-TRAC 😒
Original battery 🤣🤣
We changed the battery 🤣🤣
Just got a V8 with 286k for 1700... I would have paid another 200 for less miles lol. My ls400 V8 has a solid 230k on runs great
How the hell did you get a 4Runner for 1,900 dollars?! I’m about to buy one for 7500 with 193,000 lol
Fumon
This dude knows nothing about the beast called 4runner.. 😂😂
True. My Range Rover is much more capable so I don’t really have to worry about it 😀
@@colocars a RR is more capable than a 4 Runner? On what planet??
lol i was confuse with some of you points but anyway i ending having one -rep up your engine- sweet toyota s
go side ways ,you never go straight ,head on ,you could damage the under carriage
I was so excited when it made it up in 4 Low. Thinking about buying one. Maybe the V8 Limited though.
I'm getting one today for 5k with 264k miles, very excited
Not even that high of mileage
For a Toyota no but for a normal car yeah
Just snagged the same 2004 4th generation 4runner for 5k with 139k miles. 4.7 V8 4WD. The 4-4runner! I also own a 1984 Toyota Supra that I've restored to daily driving condition. I also own a 2017 Jeep Cherokee sport and this is still my favorite vehicle.
Joseph Doss We like what we like, however don’t be shocked when that jeep implodes after 100k miles. It’s no 4Runner
196k lol well at least the engine is broken in.
Napoleon, where's Pedro, goshly!!
Bro, you found that thing for less than 2k?...whaaat?
Can’t believe you got it for $1900 you won’t find a 4Runner for that price range
Betta believe is Sammy!
Get this 10 year old spoiled kid out of here
Lol Frankie!!!!!!
Why you walking like that
