- Like our Band Sawn Reindeer, this miniature wooden sleigh is designed to be cut out quickly and simply on a band saw. Make eight (or nine) reindeer, add this sleigh, and you have Santa's entire team! And it's small enough to use up some of those special wood scraps you just couldn't bear to throw away.
The BAND SAW SLEIGH PROJECT PLAN, along with FULL-SIZE PATTERNS , is available in PDF format from the Workshop Companion General store at workshopcompanionstore.com/pr... .
And if you'd like to have the BAND SAW REINDEER plan as well, find it at workshopcompanionstore.com/pr... . You can also get the plans for the NESTING CHRISTMAS TREE seen in this video at workshopcompanionstore.com/pr...

In this video we used skip tooth bandsaw blades, these blades generally come with 4-6 tpi and you will want to make sure its the right size for you bandsaw. If you have a smaller bandsaw you will most likely need to use a 1/2" blade for resawing.

And thank you so much for your time and interest!
Probably my favorite woodworking personality! You can tell he loves doing what he does.
Hammer spins make it extra gangster.
I’m slowly working my way through every video on this channel. Amazing teacher!
Thanks for saying. I probably offer some sort of merit badge for endurance for folks who undertake what you are doing.
I like the soutpark-esque intro haha!
I love this channel. :)
Sleighing it, Nick. ;)
Great lesson, thanks
Most welcome.
What a great addition to the reindeer. And timely too. Thanks Nick!
Most welcome.
Love how you explain everything!
What a lovely video. You truly are a saint, Nick.
That was fantastic. Fun and easy to watch. I love your dog popping up every now and then. Your cartoon is awesome too.
Incredibly beautiful project!
Thanks.
Fun video and another project for my "to do list!"
GREAT project Nick. I especially like the tapered sled, it gives it that special touch. Already downloaded the plans and I am ready to go! !! !!!
Good luck...and happy holidays.
Your videos are always fun. Happy Thanksgiving.
Same to you and yours.
I sense a genius level intellect here, and a mastery of craft that's really a joy to watch. Great channel.
Great work
Awesome job as usual Nick. Your tip on measuring the .pdf was spot on. I changed it to 103 percent, and it was perfect.
Glad it worked. Cheers and good luck!
great project! I love that you can make it from 2x4 scraps.
Thanks!
Thanks Nick!! I've already made the reindeer. Now it's time to complete the project. Happy holidays!
Good lick, and same to you!
Fantastic work, Nick! Really beautiful pieces!!! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks for the kind words. You stay safe as well.
When I make the reindeer I glue a puff ball on rhw noise Red for Rudolf, Black for Olive (the other reindeer) =, and Brown for Sidney the brown nose reindeer!
Thanks for the examples of multiple woods. Excellent help for the imagination. BTW - I just downloaded the plans, and as usual, they are great!
Thanks for saying -- send us some pics through our web site if you get a chance.
Great video Nick, love the animations, too. Woofity !
Thanks much. Bella says hi.

Gracias por decirlo.
Great job Nick Happy Holidays to you and your family and friends
Same to you.
I watch your videos multiple times simply because I LOVE your personality! as well as your projects. Also, you remind me of my beloved dad. Happy holidays.
Makes me wish I had a bandsaw...
Great project to do after the reindeers, I'll buy these plans as well. :) Still baffled this channel "only" has 179K subscribers. Glad to see its going up though! 👏👏👏
Thanks for the support.
Really nice Nick! I have made literally hundreds of reindeer pairs since last year, I made my own design of sleigh but there are little features like the 8 degrees that I really like! Will buy your plans as they are always on point and great value - Merry Christmas from Australia!
Thanks for the support and the kind words. You have a Merry Christmas as well.
Just a note for your team - I bought the plans today however I couldn’t select any country besides US. So changed the state to CA as the only zip code I know is 90210 lol - cheers from Australia!
@@Mongrel85 Thanks for telling us. The country selection box seems to be giving our customers fits in the last few days, and we have yet to figure our what's going on. You seemed to have come up with a workable work-around.
@@WorkshopCompanion Fyi i bought plans tonight all went ok from Tasmania Australia
@@stevehubner560 Thanks for the report.
I'm definitely buying these plans from you, sir! I've been into woodworking for a couple of years now, but I'm a lot better at carving with a knife. But I want to use my tools my wife got me for Christmas last year.
Good luck. But don't give up you're carving; it is an amazing art form.
💖💖
Nick, reverse print the pattern on a laser printer. Lay the copy on the block and, using an iron, remelt the toner onto your block.
Terrific projects Nick! Happy Holidays to you & your family! 🦃🦃🌲🌲
Thanks, and to yours as well.
Could you possible use a scroll saw for any of these cuts? Thank you for a great video.
Funniest teacher on YT.
Ok now I want a bandsaw…….
Great content! Might I suggest drawing your drift line on some blue painters tape so it isn’t permanent on the support?
You can if marking the table bothers you. Or just take it off with a little naptha.
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Consider this: Santa’s reindeer must be female as male deer shed their antlers in the winter. Thank you for sharing 🌞
Most welcome.

If I close my eyes, I hear Richard Dreyfus.
Stupid question that may have been covered and I missed it. For future reference does blade drift change based upon the blade size you use… I.e could I just leave a line on there for reference? Or should it be done each time (I own a Shopsmith if that matters). Love the channel. Well done to you and your crew!
Blade drift is different for every blade and, on some band saws, for different installations of the same blade. Drift depends on a number of factors, but the most important are the set of the teeth and tracking adjustment of the upper wheel. Owing to the ways in which band saw blades are manufactured, the set of the teeth is not always the same on both sides of the blade, so the blade will cut ever-so-slightly more aggressively on one side or the other, causing the cut to drift a degree or three toward the aggressive side. And if the blade rides the crown of the upper wheel too far forward or too far back, this may also cause drift. In fact, some craftsman recommend you correct for drift by adjusting the blade tracking. I don't do this for two reasons. First, it can cause the blade to run out-of-square front-to-back, and you'll no longer get clean inside corners where two cuts must meet. And second, it's absolutely impossible on some saws, the Shopsmith included. The tracking is automatic. So I used the method I demonstrated in the video -- and I do it each time I have a resawing task before I resaw, just so there are no surprises.
Blade 6 mm will be good?? Amazing worki!
4 mm. You'll have problems turning some of the radii with 6 mm.
@@WorkshopCompanion I'll try. If it's hard, I'll try for 4 mm. Thnx

Do you think that a 3/8" blade works work instead of the 5/8"? My smaller bandsaw I don't believe a 1/2" blade will fit. Or anything larger of course.
3/8" will work. You might have a little extra sanding to do, but nothing that time-consuming. Just make sure you use a skip-tooth blade to help the chips clear.
@@WorkshopCompanion alright makes since, thanks.
Folding a bandsaw blade while talking……didn’t skip a beat.
Thanks for noticing. But after 50 years of working with band saws it's just a habit. I could do it in my sleep, but my wife won't allow band saw blades in the bed.
Words to live by. One must always be careful of the nuts you eat. Hahahaha
Indubitably.
You know someone is going to ask for a Santa.
And some elves. Working on it.
Good point!
Had to laugh when you said "maybe hundreds of thousands" as I looked up on my mantel to see the reindeer I made from your plans last year.
Go to a crafts show -- ANY crafts show. There's a business on Etsy that sells (almost) nothing but these deer. ($35 a pop!) You may think this is benign, but you remember that Star Trek episode, "The Trouble with Tribbles?" Think about that when oversize versions of these things start popping up everywhere as lawn ornaments.
@@WorkshopCompanion I made a couple as my gift last year for my family secret Santa Christmas gift exchange and promptly had to make six more because all my sister's were fighting over them. They do have a way of multiplying.
I've heard Rudolph was a bad drunk.
Rusty? We're they salty first? :-D
Were* - autocorrect FTL
These are super simple, just learn geometric design, and some calculus and you can make them easy with a 1200 bandsaw. So easy, and they sell for 2 bucks. Go make your million
Have a great Thanksgiving and thanks for all the fun videos this year.
Most welcome.
