@@LouieCaporussoJr Oh, Louie, you just hit the spot. Every time I hear "I Wanna Get Next To You" by Rose Royce I get chills and my mind goes back to a party on New Years Eve 1977 and my first real kiss. So nice.
The guy sitting on the right, keyboardist Rod Temperton, wrote and arranged for all of Heatwave’s hits, including “Grooveline” and “Always and Forever”. He later went on to write many other hits, including “Off The Wall”, “Rock With You”, “Thriller”, Baby Be Mine”, and “The Lady In My Life” for Michael Jackson, “Stomp!” for the Brothers Johnson, “Give Me The Night” for George Benson, “Baby, Come To Me” for Patti Austin and James Ingram, “Yah Mo B There” and “Sweet Freedom” for Michael McDonald/James Ingram. Wow this takes me back to DC (Chocolate city) & those disco nights ... When making $12,000 a year typing for a law firm was LIVIN’ LARGE ! I remember hanging out dancing on Wednesday nights & going to work Thursday still drunk !!!
$12,000 a year in 1976, was great money. I was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps made $594 a month. I didn't have to worry about paying rent, didn't have worry about food money and free insurance. $594 was a spending money.
Love Heatwave! Rod Temperton is the keyboardist and a musical genius! He passed away in 2016 and I was so hurt. He has been a part of so much music in my life. But Heatwave is bad ass and you have to check out all their music in order to appreciate them to the fullest!
"If we can dance, then damnit let's dance" Love it dude! I struggle with depression and anytime I can let the music take me over is a blessing. I can always count on your videos to make me smile, keep it going Jamel!
Have always loved this song. No way anyone could be in a bad mood listening to this! As far as the dance goes, I have no idea. But between their outfits and their dancing I’m pretty sure they were the ones who started aerobics! 😆❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Bro Jamal, you have to check out "Always and Forever" by this here band. The mans voice will blow you away, and it's my wife and mine song for the past 32 years.
One of my older sisters loved this song back in the day. She enjoyed dancing a lot, and would make up dances to these songs all the time. This tune: *"Flashlight"* (Parliament) *"Brick House"* (Commodores) *"Fire"* (Ohio Players) *"Get Off"* (Foxy) These were some of her favorite songs to dance to back in the 70's. And what surprised a lot of us was what a great dancer she was. You could show her a new move, and she would pick it up just like that...
The white guy playing keyboards is Rod Temperton, he wrote all the songs for Heatwave, plus he was hugely successful in the 70s and 80s having written Thriller and Off the Wall for Michael Jackson, Rock With You. He also wrote George Benson's hits "Give Me the Night" and "Love X Love", and Patti Austin's and James Ingram's US #1 hit "Baby, Come to Me", among many others. Temperton wrote the soundtrack for the 1986 film Running Scared. He won a Grammy Award in 1991 for his work on "Birdland", from Quincy Jones's album Back on the Block. Temperton wrote successfully for other musicians, his hits including "Stomp!" for The Brothers Johnson, , "Baby, Come to Me" for Patti Austin and James Ingram, "Love Is in Control (Finger on the Trigger)" for Donna Summer, and "Yah Mo B There" for Ingram and Michael McDonald. He also wrote for Herbie Hancock, The Manhattan Transfer, Mica Paris, Rufus and Chaka Khan and many others.
This song was a sure way to get the dance floor crowded. It's one of the reasons we were so thin back in the 70's. We were out dancing at least three times a week. Brother Jemel, YOU ARE THE KING!!!!! Keep it going.
Dave Sampognaro MRM- another reaction channel- be just did face mask, so I thought you might be subbed to him too- a lot are that are subbed to Jamel as well-
The thing i didn't know they were from the UK, until much later...you got to hand it to the Brits, they can create a lot great and influential music which started with the Beatles and so-forth, we influence them with our urban music and in return gave us many different genre of music,,,music is universal, not a race, not a color, or put in a box to be suppressed....music is way too powerful and it is needed especially into today climate....Keep doing your thang Jamel.

Lord child you need to pick that fro out!
Truly, that would be Billy Preston level epic if picked out.
Time for some Afro-Sheen and wham an Afro-Sheen blow out!
AND DYE IT DARKER TOO THAT GRAY IS NOT FLATTERING ON YOU IT MAKES YOU LOOK 50
@@poppy3026 I did tell him he stole his grandma's Sunday wig. 😆
@@poppy3026 he wants to look our age that's cool!!
I was rollerskatin to this song!
Jamel, React to The Goove Line, and i'm done
Yes!!!!!?
Used to think of roller skating back in the day, whenever I heard this; now I think of Mark Wahlberg. 😂
I never roller skated but I had a lot of fun dancing to this.
Bro Jamal, you have to check out "Always and Forever" by this here band. The mans voice will blow you away, and it's my wife and mine song for the past 32 years.
I listen to you at least a few times a day. It helps get through these times. Thank you
Great TBT song, Jamel. You can't be in a bad mood listening to Heatwave's Boogie Nights!
Thank you for the good vibes! ♥️
One of my older sisters loved this song back in the day.
She enjoyed dancing a lot, and would make up dances to these songs all the time.
This tune:
*"Flashlight"* (Parliament)
*"Brick House"* (Commodores)
*"Fire"* (Ohio Players)
*"Get Off"* (Foxy)
These were some of her favorite songs to dance to back in the 70's.
Yessssss!!! This be my GROOOOVE THANG!!!!
60's-70's music!!! The best mixtape EVER! Country, Disco, Rock, Soul you name it, what a great time to have a radio.
The next Heatwave reaction "The Groove Line" More wig wearing throwbackness. By the way, please add facemasks to your merchandise line.
You watch MRM too?!
@@kimberlinibambini1988I'm not certain what you are asking. MSM? As in mainstream media?

The thing i didn't know they were from the UK, until much later...you got to hand it to the Brits, they can create a lot great and influential music which started with the Beatles and so-forth, we influence them with our urban music and in return gave us many different genre of music,,,music is universal, not a race, not a color, or put in a box to be suppressed....music is way too powerful and it is needed especially into today climate....Keep doing your thang Jamel.
Two Americans,2 brits,1swiss,1czech and 1 jamaican made the initial lineup.
