Thank you Joy I am condemning the current healthcare system I worked in for 25 yrs. I retired at 62, I just couldn’t take it anymore the way patients were treated, just numbers and bedflow how to get them in and out so they would be back three days later because they never should have been discharged in the first place. Nursing staff was treated awful 10 really sick people to one nurse. I was done done done. I now live in a senior high rise and try to help people here. The system is a nightmare. I had to talk to 5 people to try to get a raised toilet seat for an 83 year old lady who had used up the 6 safety devices she is allowed for a year. You would have thought I was asking for her to get a liver transplant, then the guy in medical supplies gave me such a hard time. I ended up calling her doctor. Of courses it should be she gave verbal permission for me to navigate this system to get a raised commode seat. She couldn’t call all these people very very upsetting. I wanted to wrap that toilet seat around someone’s head. A raised toilet seat omg I was so very very angry what they do to people the system is getting worse and worse and she was a nurse many years ago I was furious

Agreed. I prefer long wait and rationing to get free stuff. Even when my country can't justify many medical procedures, they will locate a country that does. Europe has an impressive train network to get around, but taxi is crazy expensive if you are unable to walk a good distance.

it's actually cheaper if you pay cash. the contracted rate with your private insurance is at the higher rate. If you are uninsured and have to do cash pay, they charge you closer to medicare/medicaid rates of reimbursement. the private rate ie. BCBS, UHC, Cigna etc. is at that much higher rate.
then it should be easy for you to start running one for cheap

Some of the hardest working people in this country in the most socially essential jobs make PEANUTS while desk jockeys and the laptop class make 6 figures or more to sit on their butts, or gain passive income off the labor and paychecks of others. @teamginger9134 yes, even people who profit off the very flawed ACA which is subsidizing these greedy health insurance companies with our tax dollars. 'Obamacare' was a slight improvement over the prior system but hardly a good way to do healthcare either- thats why the U.S. healthcare system still ranks at the bottom of al other developed nations. We pay more money than people with public healthcare and more people overall still get worse outcomes.
Joy Reid's coverage with this type of guest is a breath of fresh air via straight and honest reporting that challenges her journalistic peers in corporate media who are very out of touch in their gaslighting of the public who have been mistreated by the likes of UHC.
It's almost like the government paying whatever the company wants while also providing any and all protections for their product hurt the industry.
Thank you for focus on the real villains in this tragedy. Fight for accessible, affordable health care for the American people. You know, what they have inthe civilized world.

Mr Thompson had been facing insider trading allegations.
A class-action lawsuit filed in May 2024 alleged that he sold $15m of his UnitedHealth Group shares, knowing that the company was reportedly facing an antitrust investigation by the US Department of Justice.
The City of Hollywood Firefighters’ Pension Fund initiated a complaint against Mr Thompson and other executives, accusing them of failing to tell investors about the investigation before selling more than $117m in company stock.

The definition of profit is to get more back than what you put into something. The implications are enormous and impossible to sustain. tick tock tick tock... US interest expense is now $1.2 trillion, the second largest government outlay surpassing defense and health spending, and is just one debt crisis and/or interest rate spike away from exceeding Social Security spending as the largest government outlay for the world's most indebted government.
Profit cannot be tied to healthcare, period. This is what is known as CONFLICT OF INTEREST. Unfortunately, the Democrats have shown no interest in this conflict of interest, perhaps because of their own regarding the healthcare and pharmaceutical businesses.
