That's a misnomer. San Diego often has shitty weather - cold and gloomy and wet (during rainy years), just not catastrophic weather. I lived there 60 years; it's grossly expensive and overrated.

Take it from a Floridian...it's not a joke, and the majority of SD isn't taking it seriously at all! It's quite infuriating and sad to see the locals, including business owners, refuse to take precautions (boarding up and sandbagging). People out there are all smiles, doing the 🤙 and are all in complete denial. Now, no one is suggesting you worry yourselves to death, but do take necessary precautions to protect yourselves! This isn't just some intense thunderstorm...the actual eye of the storm is literally going to travel THROUGH the city of SD for crying out loud!! A tropical storm is still catastrophic and could do serious damage to the entire area. If it were a "tropical depression," then it would be nothing to worry about, but the people there really need to get a grip and wake tf up.
I was just vacationing in OB and had the privilege of driving around the entire city, becoming familiar with the different areas, so I'm quite aware of how the city is set up...and from the way the city is made, SD is not built to sustain what Hillary could potentially bring with a tropical storm...especially Coronado Island 😢 I wish the people there the best.

@@rajncajn37 the issue is the ground is like rock. Imagine 2" of rain in a brief time on a tilted parking lot. The water runs down into the washes in the desert and creates flash floods and landslides. Areas that the trees are destroyed in recent fires, so there is nothing holding the water. If as predicted, this will be a heavy rain. so far it's been pretty gentle.
