Yeah I also find the most beautiful thing about Sigur Ros is how their music just transcends language barriers even with human vocals. We all get to listen to the same thing and create our own meanings. I will be here when you react to Takk... cause it's my favorite lol
Dude you need to watch popplagio live. They are all amazing but the one from Chicago in 2016 without an orchestra blew my mind with the light show with the intensity. I was there. It was an out of body experience.
I think Come on die young by mogwai matched it. But for me it’s that or ten rapid. Sigur ros is matched with Mogwai for me for best post rock groups. I’ve never dug into Godspeed I like droning post rock I love soundtracks to the blind. But Mogwai and sigur ros are much more melodic to me.
It would be great to hear you do a reaction to múm, an Icelandic band who were all still teenagers when their first album came out at the end of 1999. They were really good buddies with Sigur Rós. The twin sisters in the band feature in the cover art for the Belle and Sebastian album Fold Your Hands Child, You Walk Like a Peasant. And one of the sisters, Kristin Anna, married Avey Tare from Animal Collective and plays on their album Feels under the name Kria Brekkan (I think the marriage did not last). Their first three albums are all awesome, mixing live instruments and electronica with a love of making music using found sounds and all sorts of textures. Perhaps the best starting point is their second album, Finally We Are No-one. But you can't go wrong with any of their first three (the first was Yesterday Was Dramatic, Today is Okay; and the third was Summer Make Good).
YES! Been waiting for the next Sigur Rós review. Great video as always✌️ Sigur Rós are so so good. The last song Popplagið is the song they always play as a closer on their concerts. The song is an absolute monster, the best song ive ever seen live from any band. Untitled 3 has a huge place in my heart as I had it played in my moms funeral in her honour❤ It is one of the most beautiful songs ever. And yes you have to go see them live. They are touring now this fall with an orchestra❤ Cant wait for the Takk review🙌
Love all the post-rock content, have you ever listened to "The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads" by Lift to Experience. It's not quite as dreamy as Sigur Ros, but I think there are definitely some heavenly moments I wish I could relive for the first time again on the album. The genre falls closer to shoegaze, with some country/americana influence, some people call it "bootgaze" haha.
Thanks for the reaction, I've loved this band for 25 years. Sure, everyone is recommending Takk now - but another great choice is the later Kveikur. It's darker, more aggressive - and unique in their discography. At least for me, because I first heard it during their show at the Colours of Ostrava festival (2013) and it was just a dream come true! 🤩 Anyway, I'll be glad for any further reviews, have a great time ✌
All of their albums are great (only the last one that came out last year, I didn't care for much). Another definite must listen is definitely their album Takk.
You should check out Untitled #9 (Smáskífa 1) :) Lots of people don't know about it because it was released as a B-side to ( ) but it's easily one of the most emotional songs I've ever listened to in my life
Hellooo! I love all your insights and I’ve been literally binge watching your videos recently. Thank you for being honest in your reviews, and by the way, I want to steal like half of your shirts. I’m too jealous 😭 Also, I remember watching your video on Pink Moon, and I instantly thought, “oh my goodness, he would like Bryter Layter sooo much better…” so I really do think it’s worth the listen!! It’s much more layered and has some beautiful orchestration and is more upbeat. Also, I think you may like an album called “The Party” by Andy Shauf, if you haven’t listened already. It’s very much a story album. Oh, oh, and also, do you know who Joanna Newsom is? Because oh my god, if you listen to her, you won’t regret it, I’m telling you.. she plays the harp!! Thanks for reading my ramble and I really love your videos! And I will totally be checking out your music! 🫶 edit: I will be another monthly listener of Stay Home!!! Your EP is so great, please please release whatever you feel comfortable with, because god DAMN!
hey man there's an album that has criminally few fans/listens. Bluffer's Guide To The Flight Deck- Flotation Toy Warning. I think you'd really dig it. also you should set up an email or twitter where people can directly send you recommendations.
@@neonbible08 he listened to spirit theyve vanished so... von is cool pls!! i get it isnt the best experience ever, and most of the album isnt song content, but the youthful and slightly creepy sounds it makes i find are great. again, it could've been a lot better, and it would be so interesting to see him react to it.
Bríi - Corpos Transparentes... psytrance + black metal?? I promise you this album from Brazilian one-man-band Bríi is life changing as well as his previous releases including from his project Kaatayra. Check it out 😉
Another great review. Do yourself a favor and look up some live versions of Untitled 8 on RUclips. If you like how long the crescendo lasted on the album, it's even more intense and longer when they do it live.
My guy, I’m sure you already have a grillion fuckin albums on your queue. But check out the album “The Texas Jerusalemcrossroads” by lift to experience. GREAT album. Edit: deadass just saw the comment of someone already recommending it. LISTEN TO US
Please try to pronounce their Name correctly. Its Islandic, not American.....Anyway,its one thing listen to this Album, but to see them LIVE is on another Level .This is one of the Best Live Clips available for the Last Track, also their Last Song in their Live Shows : Sigur Rós Untitled #8 (Official Live Video) : ruclips.net/video/XCAQ0MZTJmg/видео.html

Easy 10/10 album for me. It's so beautiful
I don’t think I’ve ever felt such emotion seeing a band live - they were incredible
This album is the peak of post rock. No-one ever matched it imho.
Please listen to takk... after this
Did not know I needed this LP. Great reaction!

Texas Jerusalem crossroads is GREAT
great vid and reaction. One of the best bands I've ever seen live, got goosebumps throughout the whole show.
I'll be here when you listen to Takk... album
Great man!
Everyone is talking about "Takk", but i also higly recommend "hvarf - heim" and "valtari"... amazing stuff
(Also their film "heima" by the way :D)
Valtari is so underrated in their catalogue
@@neonbible08 to me it's their best album after Agætis byrjun :)
Will be seeing them live next month with an orchestra! Can’t wait!
Sigur Ros is back!

Untitled 3 could go on forever for me. Coldplay song you’re thinking of is fix you.
u should listen to "Untitled 9 - Smáskifa 1"
its not on the release you listened to but probably my favorite Untitled track

Btw, it's more like "See-Gour", it's not prnounced Sugar. XD
Takk might even be better than this
CORRECT
