  • We had a slow start to Spring but it's getting warmer and we seem to have skipped straight into Summer. So it's the perfect time to look at the heat loving vegetable varieties I'm sowing this Summer for a bumper harvest of tomatoes, courgettes and peppers.
The Chilli and Pepper plants have been potted on and look healthy. The indoor tomatoes are ready for potting out and the outdoor varieties are ready to be transplanted into the Allotment.
The heritage tomato varieties at home are looking good if a bit behind and the courgettes are also looking strong.
I also read through some of the Franchi Seeds of Italy and heirloom varieties that I'm concentrating on this year.
The melons germinated well indoors, but have wilted away after transplanting. A final sowing now might pull through if I'm lucky!
I've swapped out the Cima di Rapa for one red pepper and one Aubergine plant. Fingers crossed they make it!

Lots of excellent varieties there Andy, Jonny hasn’t posted in a while but I’m hoping he starts up again. It’s cool here today for the first time in ages but still no rain 😢. Hope they all grow well for, you, have a super weekend, Ali 🌞🇨🇦

They have a great range available, they even had onion sets earlier in the year! Thanks for watching! Cheers, Andy.

Ooooh. When you mentioned Bolognese Courgette you made me want bolognese for dinner! I'm not a huge fan of courgette sadly but with a name like Bolognese Courgette I think I might need to try them again 😆.

Plenty of time left for courgettes. If you weren’t a fan last time try a yellow variety. Catch them young and you’ll get more, better flavoured and textured fruit. No one likes a marrow 🤣Cheers, Andy!

i've starten utilising what space i can find myself. i only put one brassica in the centre of the pot, but i grew the turnips in modules and planted around the brassicas. i even put turnips in the potato pots before the potatos pushed through. seems to be working....................brian

You are inspiring me to attempt to grow chilies although I wonder whether I'm too late for this year 🌶.

Seeds might just (only just) missed the window as they can take a couple of weeks to germinate. Perhaps get some seedlings online or at a garden centre? Can’t go wrong with a cayenne or jalapeno. Cheers, Andy
