Just talking to some of the workshop guys that keep the cars up to scratch, they haven't got a good word about them. All of them talk about eachother behind their backs. Just goes to show who the police force actually hires.

You couldn't be more wrong. US police do not shoot anyone on sight, if you think that then you're very delusional. UK police however cannot handle suspects with anything like a knife because they literally have no weapons to defend themselves. Guns are deployed in the very last circumstance, which normally is as soon as the word knife is mentioned.

They can patrol like ordinary officers or be called to specific incidents in which firearms officers are required and authorized.
These lads are very lucky to be in the U.K. if this took place in the U.S the lad who done a runner would probably have been shot with bullets instead of a taser. And also a big thumbs up to the cabbie that helped out with the "foot chase". :-)

When I reported my phone stolen and could see which flat it was in, I was just given a crime number turns out they sold it on ebay. I was gutted and my neighbour had it on cctv at the time.

The issue isn’t really being in shape, given most forces have guidance for police officer fitness levels. The big thing is that the officers are often dressed in a stab vest, steel toe capped boots and with a number of items of kit which are heavy and which don’t really allow for long distance running.
