Absolutely correct, but I wish they hadn’t, lol. When I booked for an upcoming trip, the LH website itself was showing my flight to be a 744. Days after I bought the ticket, I got an email from LH about an equipment change. Now the flights on an A340-300. Fluck that I said, and chose an alternate routing to the same destination but on a 748.

A few things... 1. Wow a great report. Thank you. 2. I love the A340-600, I was able to fly on it once MUC-EWR on LH it was super great! Sadly, the LH long-haul economy class experience and service (seen here) has deteriorated SIGNIFICANTLY since the pandemic hit. I flew them in November 2021 and it was a shockingly POOR experience. 3. Watching this made me miss the days when it was preferable. *sigh* 4. Also LOVE the rare LAX reverse ops departure! I've experienced it only once and I've flown through LAX for years. 5. I don't know why but the downstairs bathrooms are truly the BEST thing ever. 6. I REALLY hope I get the chance to fly on the A340-600 again before they're gone! ;(
Love the downstairs lavatories. Firstly, less noise/smell for the passengers nearby and secondly you don't have to pick whether to try the front economy one or the rear one depending on which is occupied. Here you will almost always get at least one empty. Flew this many years ago FRA-YVR and back and enjoyed the experience.

Well, I'm gonna assume they landed the 10th of February 2020. The forecast showed surface winds up to 40 knots, gusts up to 60 knots, moderate hail and thunderstorms. I'm sure the airport was closed for a while. Luckily the weather quickly improved to clear skies with just a 25 knots headwind shortly after.

I'm an MD 11 pilot and would see the A346s often in FRA & MAD, I haven't flown to MUC since 1999 according to my flight log! Sadly these birds are leaving the skies faster than a brief rainstorm. I thought for sure DLH would be a long lasting holdout but their days are numbered there as well. I enjoyed the video!

In my opinion A340-600 along with MD11 are the most bueatiful passenger aircrafts ever created. While it's no longer possible to fly on MD-11 (unless you are a cargo freight ;)) I hope I can get a chance to fly with A346. It's like magnificent swan... EDIT: I'm going to fly this bird to Hong Kong October 2023!

Even tough it was all creaky during landing and interior was quite "lufthansa raw" flight was enjoyable. I'm happy to finally flew A346. Moreover I was lucky to fly back to Europe with B744, another great bird for the first time!
2:33, the whole reason why this aircraft is flying now. Better get on these while you can, cause once A350s and 777Xs start getting delivered with First Class, it’s auf wiedersehen to the A346. You’d have to travel to Nigeria or Iran at that point if you want to fly on this f***ing long bird. You transatlantic flyers are so lucky to have this rare bird available for crossing the pond. I have to travel halfway round the world to get that chance…..
At the moment Mahan Air is the only airline that frequently flies this bird as far as I know Lufthansa planned to bring it back this year but it will probably get delayed because of omicron
I fly long haul regularly , and I pick the A330/340 series every time over the rivals which offer 3-3-3 or 3-4-3 configurations . For the travelling couple there is no better option .
I just love everything about Lufthansa, one of the few airlines left that really take pride in the experience and quality care no matter what class you choose on the flight! Another great video as always and also one of my most favorite aircrafts of all time!
Since the moyority have it in a 3-4-3( airlines!) , but if you fly Singapore airlines 3-3-3 777, you would know what the 777 feels like when is used right!

Loved the 340 as a pax. Rows near the back just 2 seats by the window. haven. I THINK it's the longest plane ever, As usual, the French had to make sure it was an inch longer or so that The Queen. 2nd most beautiful airliner, great proportions
I wouldn't have said "who cares about safety vdeos". There are information that may save lives. I'd also watch safety demonstraions by th air hostesses. They deserve some attention from the passengers whom they are there to protect.

It's a deal breaker though, for any passenger with mobility problems, and can't handle steps... I wonder what accommodation Lufthansa is willing to make in that situation..??
You were very fortunate the flight was only a third full (from what I could tell from the footage), that always makes a flight far more enjoyable. As far as the ‘windy’ landing at Munich, one of the smoothest I’ve seen - ha ha.
For decades LH has served a hot towel and little pretzels as compliments. The pasta used to be topped with meatballs and breakfast used to have cheese and ham etc. Well, economy class is meant to discourage passengers to fly economy, after all!

I really liked my flights on the A340-600 (with Lufthansa and Iberia). Sorry to see them gone now. But it's nice to see a video of a flight from just one month before the world changed.

It's slowly starting to get back to normal. They reintroduced hot meals not too long ago.

PAL has been serving in LA forever. Before the 777, they would utilize the 747 and A340-300 there

My favorite plane of all I’ve experienced. All 3 trips (ORD-MUC, LH435) were fantastic. The restroom setup is what makes it my favorite, I think.

I flew aboard a A346 once, on South African from CPT to LHR back in 07. It was an amazing aircraft.

I was actually pretty lucky to experience two amazing flights, one to Munich on the A340 and back to New york on the B747
It was the inverse for me. I flew the 748 outbound from EWR to FRA and the 346 from MUN to EWR.

Great report as usual. However, although safety videos may seem redundant to you since you fly alot , if you've never flown, the videos are helpful.

They are not gone yet, 19 of Lufthansa A340-s are active now, operate from FRA (A340-300) and MUC (A340-600) to US airports.
