We're thinking about adding a furry friend to our lives. What's your favourite dog breed (suitable for van life and our lifestyle) and why?
I'm a dog lover and owner. It's a tough question because you need a strong/active like you for the hiking part, but that can wait still during the travel part. Dog it's such a personal choice too, and an encounter. I would suggest to adopt one, mixed breeds are stronger than pure breed. When you meet the right one you know it!
@@edoardovideo thanks for the tips! We were thinking of adopting an adult dog first, mixed breed probably, whichever one loves us most haha we need a cuddly one that will take to us. Moritz wants a corgi but can't imagine him or her being easy to clean after a hike 😂😂

I have a promaster similar to these guys. If you end up getting a dogo, I'll be very interested to see how you manage all-day multipitches while having a dog. (The main reason, I don't have a dog.)
Poodle mixes tend to be very adaptable, hypoallergenic (which is good if you have friends over who might be allergic), intelligent, and very flexible in terms of activities. They are great for going hiking for days at a time on the trail, or just lounging all day at home. They're low maintenance except of course their shaggy curly fur which needs to be maintained for outdoors stuff. As long as you get them used to clippers when they're young you can groom them fairly easy yourself tho! The advantage is tho that if you travel in the winter you just let their hair grow out and they can be a winter mop in a few months!

Amazing build. Thank you for sharing it! I wish Lauren & Diego will create video content one day. Lauren seems so natural and at ease in front of the camera! I have also appreciate the part where Lauren talks about fears, doubts and goals in (Van)Life.
Now that they've seen a bit of the video making process they're thinking of creating some too. But i think for now their priority is to get the blog filled with content.

A number of van lifers hve cats as pets. Eric of Nomadic Fanatic has 2 cats in his RV. The lady whom you interviewed in the van tour is so giggly and often breaks out in laughter. She reminds me of another lady vanlifer Anna Uncharted who also giggles & laughs a lot in her videos 😁
Chiko's allergic to cats unfortunately! It's gotten better over the years with exposure (no longer puff up and need benadryl) but we don't think she'd be able to handle that plus spring pollen altogether 💔 we love cats tho!!! Also, Lauren and Chiko both watch Anna Uncharted too!
Awesome van, hard to believe that's their first experience with carpentry . As far as dogs, no small yappers. I've rescued 4 pit bulls, since thats what Florida shelters are full of, two made it to 13 and one 14. Current dog is female and she's been the most "game" of them all, I'm about to rescue another since she's out of puppy stage. Far as breeds if I purchased a dog would be, Weimaraner or Belgian Shepherd .
They were taken in by a friend's mom who is a carpenter with a full shop! But the speed at which they learned the trade was inspiring.
You have such a big heart! Pit bulls are a misunderstood breed and so loving and friendly if raised correctly. We hadn't considered Weimaraner or Belgian Shepherd...leaning towards the Weimaraner!!!
@@RoadtoPitches Weimaraner are about the smartest dogs I've been around. Once saw my friends weimaraner stop and go around wet concrete, than minutes later a plumber walked right through it. Yes, pit bulls get a bad rap from being made mean. When I go to the shelter I wanna take 'em all home.
@@RoadtoPitches awesome video of weimaraner puppies . Shows another thing to consider, alpha vs. beta dogs. All my previous male dogs were beta, Susie my current dog is most definitely alpha. Yeah we also liked that water heater. There's so much excess heat from the engine that it makes absolute sense to use that for your water.
(We added the fruits to give a sense of the size of the drawers😂)

It is! She was shedding her undercoat and we could pluck a whole van's worth of insulation off of her.
