This is my favorite Black Series figure of all time. The sculpt is incredible. The articulation is finally good. I took a hand drill to that little notch on the side of his jetpack so the Amban Rifle can slot in. I put his beskar spear on the other side. He has all his goodies and is looking insane on the shelf.
100% agree! I have both the mafex and the black series and to be honest the black series has replaced the mafex on the shelf. The way the light reflects off it is insane. If it had alternate hands it would be right up there.
What does the Black series have over the Mafex that you replaced it? Obviously the S.H. has weird proportions but I don't believe the Mafex has that issue?
@@JeffZ1028 Paint apps more than anything, it looks far more reflective than the mafex. That and the helmet mould looks correct vs the mafex which is far to narrow in the visor. The Mafex V1 is still stellar and is far more expressive due to the hands but the black series for price, looks and attitude is a real winner too.

The paint is definitely much more a generic silver but I'm not sure that's accurate to season 3 Mando? I remember the armor looking darker than before and more polished as well. Either way, it looks great for the price.
@@JeffZ1028 The visor on the black series looks more accurate then either version currently. A lot of the colour of the armour in season 3 was also due to lighting. If you put this in darker light it'll look very accurate.
@@SamAlexander14786 No I'm pretty sure it was due to them making the armor much more reflective and polished for season 3. The armor has never been a plain silver, it always had an extremely dark look to it and that's under direct daylight as well. The mudhorn signet on his shoulder plate is a regular silver and you can see just how dark in comparison the rest of the armor actually is. A gloss coat or two would help add that more mirror-like reflection to the Black Series figure but I wouldn't expect a paint app from a Black Series to look as nice as more expensive figures but its definitely not accurate when compared to everything else on the market that goes for that dark chrome finish.
I just got the new Mando, I found him when they were first bringing him out onto the shelf at GameStop last Friday 01/05/2024. I’m keeping him in the box 😮. I’m impressed with it!
After watching your video on the figuarts one, I got it right away and loved it. I’ve had this black series one for a little longer and I honestly love them both equally. Both are super fun and really good to take photos with. They’re great.🙌
Great video Jared, my new mando just arrived from Pulse. About to open him up. What I always loved most about the figuarts was the chrome shine to the armor, but this black series looks like they improved that too. Fun seeing your photo process too as always!
I thing the Black Series takes the cake! SHF dropped the ball with a few details for a 100+ US$ figure. But all my money is on the S02 Mafex coming out this year.
@@sirdork730 of course! I don't know how I wasn't subscribed to your channel before. I am now! I'm working on a Diorama for this Mando that I am excited about.
The blade on the darksaber also unclips from the hilt so you can hang the saber on his belt behind his cape. there is a small hook there on his belt. if you have a previous figure with his rifle, you can also clip the rifle onto the back above the jetpack holes. there is a separate hole for that. if you have a Boba figure where you have the fire coming out of the jetpack thrusters, those fire accessories can also be put into Mandos jetpack thrusters, you will see the holes are wider.
Oh snap okay I'm confused. Went to order the Black series but on Entertainment earth, there are 2 versions and looks literally exact. One is Glavis Ringworld and the other is mines if mandalore. Do you know the differences? Which do you have?
He arrived 3 days ago and he is the best Mando, I have Figuarts and the Model Kit version of Mando and the MK was my version. Damn now this Black Series has me going I dont need to go imports. This is the way!

Without having one in my hand it looks like the only thing new is the paint job and the cloth cape. I do want to get one to see for myself, but I'm not yet convinced it's all that and a bag of chips. I have the Mafex 2.0 on pre-order, hoping it doesn't dissapoint!
i’ve been perfectly content with my season 1 red box mando and managed not to be tempted by the dozens of repaints over the years. it was one of my first black series and i actually like the mismatched armor “mythos” look. however after not seeing a single bad review of this figure, i can’t resist picking this one up. a historic moment for my collection, having 2 mandos now. this could be dangerous 😂

I've never been a big fan of the proportions of figuarts mandalorian figures, preferring Mafex for that. They still have the best original series Boba Fett releases.
I just ordered this but in the meantime, I got the Mines of Mandalore version with the plastic cape and it's still damn awesome. I bought extras for parts and put the new helmet on the brown armored Mando and it really elevated that figure. I also swapped the hands, gun, feet, and modded the gunbelt and bandolier to fit and it worked quite well. Just need to repaint the boots to match the newer figure and I'll have a really decent season 1 brown armor Mando. As for the comparisons, I prefer the Mafex Mando to Figuarts, but the new Black series is NEARLY Mafex level in terms of sculpt and actually passes it in some ways.
@@sirdork730 Thanks! I honestly think it's a decent figure in general, but aa few mods really makes it match the new figure quite well. I'm kinda hoping Hasbro makes it regardless. Many newer figures like Axe Woves, the Death Watch Commando and the Fleet Commander have very similar parts to the season 1 Mando aside from missing dents that I think they could easily make it.

Just had mine arrive today, and am blown away! My ONLY problem, and it’s really more like a tiny gripe, is how the wrist gauntlets look off. It’s dang near perfect though!
I thought tge same, but they actually swivel, so can turn them more to the side. They look like a molded one piece with the whole firearm, but actually seperate and swivel :)

I still hate that black series seems to only use single jointed knees and elbows. If they have double jointed ones I've never seen 'em. Which I don't own many of them so that could be why.
I have every single version of SHF Mando(Non-Veskar, S2, S3) and Mafex Mando ver 1.0, and just got the new BS one. I have to say, Hasbro really did it this time. One thing I absolutely HATE about SHF is his cape. The material is way too bad. Like, I opened it and left on my desk for 2 days and I can see it's wearing out. And in terms of soft clothes, Hasbro always wins against Japanese companies. Not to mention that the articulations are not too different. Sure, SHF ones look prettier, but I think BS one is way to go.
Have the Mafex Mando, didnt get the Figuarts Mando as I just think every Figuarts Mando has something about it that destroys the figure! Usually I love Figuarts aesthetic and have no idea why this one character is difficult for them to get right, when they usually blow everyone else out of hyperspace! ;-) But then again, Mafex’s Boba Fetts rocked while IMO the Figuarts Fett was mediocre. For both of these characters various figures, I felt Black Series was better than Figuarts, while Mafex was the winner. Maybe it’s just the helmeted Mandalorian designs that for some reason Figuarts can’t seem to pull off. They do IMO always make the helmet too small, where a real human has a big noggin and needs a big helmet to cover it. Mafex got this and tho initially their Fetts looked weird but in person Dang! Works of Art and second to none! I do think this Black Series Mando looks even better than the Mafex, and always preferred the proportions of Black Series Mando. When considering price, the Black Series IMO wins hands down (gloves down? Gauntlets down?). Now the newest Figuarts Grogu is a different story…those little articulated ears are magical and they got that cute little fella looking amazinnngggg and I want him so bad it’s making me consider a Mando just for Grogu - wonder why they aren’t selling Grogu by himself like they used to??? (Or am I being senile?)

Black Series has better chest while the figuarts has the better helmet. BS helmet looks too wide and too tall from above the visor to the top of the helmet while the shf chest is too small. I guess it depends on budget which figure you’d want to get

If you are cool with customization, get the bandai model kit. Its amazing. I got the grey one to paint the metallic armor myself.

The older clones have doubled jointed knees and elbows but the elbow guard really hendered the articulation

Of course the Star Wars Black Series is better, Hasbro should of started a 6" line in 1995, McFarlane did.
honestly black series is better cause shfigurarts just doesnt look right with the arms and legs it's probably because of all of the movement
