"Pierogarnia" is the name of a place that specialises in making pierogi.
"Pierogarnia" is the best place to try/eat pierogi in Poland. "Pierogarnia" can be found everywhere in Poland - they are very simple looking like a regular eatery and so very fancy.

Rob - you and Charlie still need to taste normal sweet pierogi (boiled not baked) with fruit or cream cheese. Served with cream and sugar on top.
Go in summer and try some with blueberries or strawberry.
I recommend you also to try "knedle ze śliwkami". Some sort of dumplings - dough is made from flour and smashed potato.

    Amazing!
I visited Szczecin a few weeks ago and had local speciality pierogi (smoked mackerel and cod) and was also recommended to have a cup of barszcz and I never had it before.. was not expecting to love it as much as I did! Finished the whole cup and went back for a 2nd time a few days later!

The ending -(r)nia indicates that this is a place where something connected with the word's subject happens, like English -ry I suppose. For example, piekarnia - bakery (piec - to bake/stove), cukiernia - a place with sweets, especially baked sweets but not only (cukier is sugar), kawiarnia - cafe (kawa is coffee), zbrojownia - armoury (zbroja is an armour), that's why there is a name "Pierogarnia" -> a place where pierogi are :D.

Eh, tradition is dying in the nation, since no one has explained to you the difference between biały barszcz (white borscht) and żurek (sour soup). While the classic żurek (sour soup) is a soup made from fermented rye flour, the base of biały barszcz (white borscht) is fermented wheat flour. White borscht is lighter in hue, slightly sweeter than sour soup, although it still has a sour taste and is more easily digestible than żurek.

Cyder is not popular in Poland. It exist, but most people would either go with beer, wine or simply vodka. If we are not talking about drinks and cocktails, because these are also popular beverages in Poland. But if we are thinking of just plain alcohol drink, it's one of these three with beer being totally on top. Despite people drinking vodka much, it's rather more often that they drink beer. And I mean not be ml count, but by just how often they buy and drink one or another. People do drink wine, but at least not in my family, it's that often as vodka.
I love barszcz, especially with uszka. But I also love żurek. Żurek is probably very traditional/villagey, because of the sausage and eggs added. Something that is definitely our taste.
Placki ziemniaczane! That's yet another something that I can bet comes from village people, because it was quick and easy to make. Or maybe not exactly quick, but very simple. Main ingredient being potato and potato being vegetable of Poland, made it perfect for our ancestors. And I have to thank them for this amazing meal!
I like both boiled and pan fried pierogi. They are amazing in all shapes.
The weird shaped one... I have no idea what it is but I never seen anything like that in my life. I wonder what's this, tbh.
I am genuinely jealous of You right now. I would like to eat all these myself, haha.

MMM my favorite dumplings are with meat!😁it's a pity that you were in Poland for such a short time. A bit off topic, but I love this language. In Poland, British English is mainly taught in all public and private schools, using mainly Oxford books. Although American English is also presented for comparison. American English is softer and more fluent. And the British one is tougher , just like Polish one is tougher. That's why i love British English. Only the original is worth something. As an actor said in a Polish film, there is only one Poland, so i will say that there also is only one Britain-protect your language, accent and culture. One of my favorite British songs by one of my favorite English bands is a song played in Poland by this band. I have been in love with this performance for several years. Beautiful, puree, perfect British English. Listen for Yourself "New Hope Club i Carla Fernandes - "Know Me Too Well" I The Voice Kids Poland 3""

Wtf? How is it hard to get cider in Poland? Cydr Lubelski is practically in every store, and there are a lot of other brands that you can get if you look a bit in alcohol section. I do not understand the problem here.

    • @Diveyl
      @Diveyl 6 месяцев назад

@@RobReacts1 True. Restaurants and pubs are more concentrated on traditional wine and beer, but that changes as more and more restaurants introduce cydr to the menu. Cydr was not popular years ago, beer dominated the market and for the wine... Years ago good wine was very expensive and as for the cheap wine there were fruit wines that forcefully aged with sulfides (that are present in normal wines as well), popular name given to this kind of wines is Jabol. One of the producers even named their own cheap young wine as "Chateo de Jabol".

I dont like concept of pierogi with meat. Sure it can be good. But this is waste of pierogi. You can do so much, there is infinite potential. But you just stuff it with minced meat and call it a day. Its like making pizza put tomatoe sauce, tomatoe, ham. And thats all.

I do not eat this, not my part of Poland, I think I am not part of Poland at all but being occupied like Northern Ireland. Visit UPPER Silesia and their cuisine. Not Wroclaw, in there only those who were resettled from far east of Poland live, they were moved there after reshaping borders, and escape of Germans. They are descendants of those from Lviv or Rovne, now Ukraine.

Po 2 Wojnie Światowej, kiedy zmieniono granicę, z "niemieckich" ziem przepędzono Niemców albo raczej sami odeszli, a w to miejsce zjeżdżali Polacy zza Buga. Masz z tym jakiś problem? Ja jestem potomkiem takich Polaków, urodzonym już tutaj na Dolnym Śląsku i czuję się Polakiem. A Górny Śląsk to obecnie Polska. Jeśli masz z tym problem, to użyj swojego niemieckiego paszportu i nara, bo zapewne go masz.

Charlie doesn't speak fast. This always happens when you don't know the language well. Then you simply don't know the words and you don't know where the beginning and end of each word are, so it seems to you that someone speaking very fast. That's what happened to me when i didn't understand English. I was wondering why the British speak so fast. Rob has the same problem with the Polish language, he thinks that Poles speak quickly because he can' t find the beginning and end of each word in sentence. Anyone who knows a language does not think that someone speaks fast.

Happy new year and enjoy your journey while visiting Poland 😀
