Very nice and neatly explained. Thank you. I have a question. My regular teental theka itself sounds dull. Mainly because of the ghe sound. It is monotonous in my case for all beats, unlike others. Should I be adding ghamak(if I am not wrong) to any postions? Or should I put pressure at any position?
Hi and first thanks for all these vidéos. I am learning tabla on my own in France and i would like to know how to play the bol « traka ». I am working on these thekas and i don’t get this bol. Thank you🙏 Yoann
Thanks. The improvisations slowly lead into medium tempo teen tal. Dha trkt Dhin Dhin dhate, Dhage Dhin dhindhin dhate, Dhage tin tintin Tate., Naketet Dhin DhinDhin dhate. Would you mind showing some improvisation , time permitting, for Ektal in medium and slow tempo( vilambit)? Thanks

Thank you for sharing! Very helpful! Just one question - tin is 3d bar sounds more like a tun. Is it by purpose? In this case does it differ from tun? Thank you, sir)
Hi Alexey Technically speaking you are correct in saying that the Bol being played is referred to as 'Tun' because it is played on the black part (shyahi). Practically however, Tin will often be expressed like Tun but spoken as Tin. Which one depends on three things 1) the nature of the composition 2) the Bol which correctly fits the poetry of the piece 3) the style of tabla being rendered - some styles do not often use the syllable tun at all instead preferring to use 2 types of Tin. In this particular case, Tin keeps the poetic structure of tin taal and therefore we say Tin but of course it is 'Tun' that is being played.
