Young trans man here ! I just stumbled upon your channel, and it really warms my heart to see older trans people exist. It makes me really hopeful for the future, because I spent so much time not being able to imagine myself growing up. Thank you for existing Dayne :)

Yes thanks for the recommendation for the Dropping Acid book. I tried it for the start of the year and it really helped me feel better and heal a bit. I struggled to make anything for the first two weeks though as I couldn’t work out what to use for a sauce or paste - I ended up using miso paste for gravy as i couldn’t find any stock cubes without onion or garlic. Anyway, I keep falling off the diet now but at least I know how to make it better if it flares up again, so massive thanks for that!

It's not easy to stay on the diet with so much good stuff out there. Walking through the grocery store requires a steel will... but it is a carrot and stick thing for me... so I just have to stay focused. I have to play a game ... when my eyes do wander to someone else's cart and see all the 'bad' stuff they have I mentally pat myself on the back and tell myself how good I am being... One of the worst is the bread section which is way back inside the fresh bakery items. One way in and one way out. I can smell and see the goodies and just have to shut it out... rush in, get the bread and leave... and think... wow I made it through there one more time without giving in :)
I'm glad my suggestion helped. It is hard to stay on the diet because I have to fix everything from scratch. I try to keep things on the ready so it doesn't take me as long to fix meals. I usually make a big batch of stuff that will last me 4 or 5 days and then just heat bowls of it up in the microwave when it's time to eat.
I especially miss the tomatoes, onions and garlic. I also miss all the wonderful berries and citrus fruit. I like bananas and I need some kind of fruit so I have them everyday in my oatmeal.
I never really liked or used tomato sauce so I don't miss it. My go to stock pantry items are mixed/wild rice, frozen veggies, frozen skinless chicken(which I boil ahead of time and pull apart in preparation for adding to my recipes) , pasta of any kind/shape, low fat cream of mushroom soup, canned/boxed chicken broth. I buy fresh non-fat sour cream and veggies when I feel like using them. , For sauce I use low fat/low sodium cream of mushroom soup. My seasoning is salt and chicken broth.
In a big stew pot I mix up a batch of pasta, chicken, frozen veggies, soup, sometimes some non fat sour cream and it makes a nice kind of Alfredo or stroganoff.
Another dish is chicken, frozen veggies, mixed/wild rice...in the big pot. It is like a thick stew. For seasoning I use chicken broth.
Another meal is beans (I buy the dried mixed beans). To that I add chicken and frozen veggies. Do you see a standard routine here...of chicken and veggies mixed with other stuff?
My latest batch of food (I make enough for about 5 days at a time... that's why the soup stock pot)... is lots of veggies, chicken stock and rice... no meat... so a vegetable/rice soup. I make it thick and add a little water when I fill a bowl for my dinner.
Breakfast is either oatmeal or whole grain cereal (Shredded Bran and Wheat) with a banana and 1% milk. Lunch is a sandwich of low fat turkey with a dab (cheat) of mayonnaise on whole wheat bread ... or egg salad made with one whole egg and one egg white... a little (cheat again) mayonnaise on whole wheat bread. I buy a product call All Whites for ... the egg whites. I cook them in a poaching pan with the whole egg in one cup and one cup full of egg white. I am cheating a bit on with the egg yolk but it tastes so good..... The mix of the whole egg and egg white make enough for two sandwiches.
For snakes I can have dry popcorn, no oil, with a little salt. The diet allows the popcorn made from the whole kernels not microwave. Gives me the crunchy stuff I crave.
Maybe this will help you in your meal planning :)

Dayne Allen Sheets sadly I'm vegetarian and mostly vegan as seem to be intolerant to milk and ice cream and yoghurt, so it really wipes out loads of things for me - like protein and stock. It's definitely been better for me just having the healing time of two weeks though.it would probably be easier in summer with salad options but in these cold temperatures I want stodge and fats!
