I haven’t try this new version but I think you would like the Super Kraken versus the 50W original version also. In a 4x12 , I like the low mid of the 100W a lot better. I agree with you, channel 2 is like a modern 5150 and that’s exactly what I like about that amp 😎 cheers
Im glad u did a comparison tho kyle it definitely points out the difference in mids for sure im a super kraken owner im hoping they do a version of that
This sounds great, your playing is nice too. I have been looking at the evh 5153 but this amp seems to address the things I don’t like about the 5153. That clean and crunch sound’s so good. I don’t like to much presence so that’s a bonus here too. I have your Mesa can too so this was helpful. Just need to move my Axe FX 3 😮
"Professional!" Yes! Still my favorite channel, bar none! Bro! That's exactly why I didn't like the first one in the end. I tried so hard, because it was basically an amazing tone and feel in such a small package, but I couldn't get the high end where I wanted with clarity w/o harshness. The only way was with an EQ in the loop, and in those days I was trying to find an amp I could use with no boost in front and no EQ in the loop. The first one was close, and I'm hoping this one will get me there. That 594
Based on JCM800 and 5150 according to Rabea. I can def hear a quality Marshall thing in the "clean" channel. I don't quite understand that you find it fatiguing but yet lacking sizzle... To me those sizzle frequencies are the ones that are fatiguing, but of course YMMV
I just ordered the MK II here in Germany and am stoked to get it soon. Fun fact - it seams it is over 300 Euro more expensive here than for you in the states… So why are Marshalls around half the price here than in the states and they are both built in the UK (so equally pretty close to Germany). 🤔 Just wondering
Amp sounds great. Reminds me of a JJ jr. but you have a gain knob on the clean channel. I've been gigging a JJjr. lately and it sounds amazing but the clean channel needs more options for what I do.
That's the same reason I can't get along with EVH amps. I really wat to love them, but i can't force myself to tolerate the fizzy highend, even with a parmetric EQ to filter specific freqencies.
I've had a love/hate relationship with that amp. I tracked one side of the rhythm guitars of one of my bands last album on it, the other side being my trusted 5150 50w 6l6. The other guitarist in the band liked it so we went for that but I found it too fizzy and that it lacked definition and in hindsight I think I was right, I'd rather just have went for the EVH everywhere. Funnily enough the other guitarist in the band I just joined is endorsed and uses it too, he swears by it. I like it much better in that context but still use my EVH. To be fair that amp ruined all the others for me, I never end up liking anything else better even when doing blind test tracks for recordings. It's very run of the mill, everybody has it but I guess it"s for a good reason, even the other EVH variations I like less. The 50w 6l6 is the GOAT for me, ruined my amp gas lol
@@adamh4680 I bought it new in 2018 IIRC, it's the concentric pot version. I'm not sure if the sound really changed through the years? The aforementioned endorsed guitarist in my band still has his older pre-concentric pot 50w 6l6 and I haven't A/B'd his with mine, but I used it on one of my other bands albums way before joining his band and it sounded great
It's pretty much the same price as a new EVH 5150 III Stealth 50w though. Imho, I think it's fair since it's a 3 channel amp with two master volumes, two presence frequencies, bass focus switch to tighten up the bass, a 9w power mode and you can put either 6L6 or EL34 in it. Not bad haha
Currently im running both victory kraken and jp2c in a blend in my Quad Cortex (kraken as main amp. The louder one) Both amps compliment each other but i did have to get rid of some of the low mids and high mids frequencies Kyle was talking about with a PEQ at the end of the chain. Still, i love the low end tightness and mid forward sound of Kraken❤
I saw in a recent demo that they specifically tried to knock out the 5150 style sizzle. Sorry for your loss, mane 😂. That clean channel IS really nice. Super impressive for an amp with great high gain tones. Mid gain sounds fantastic too.
Also Kyle since I was late to the video on premier, so idk if ppl told you in the chat. Channel 2 isn't supposed to be a 5150 Block Letter. It's actually based on the 5150 II since the II is Rabea's favorite version of the 5150. Channel 1 is based on a JCM900.
As far as the circuit goes there isn't much difference in the "block letter" and II red channels(I know they sound a little different though). For the Kraken...tone/voicing wise channel 2 is based on the 5150 and 900 together ie Karnivool. It's not a 900 circuit for channel 1 and 5150 circuit for channel 2.
You lost me after you said you put an MXR boost pedal in front. No point in reviewing amps when you throw pedals in. I did stay long enough to hear you shut it off... thanks for that.
I saw the whole vid, but yeah you should not review an amp with pedals active, it's about the amp, not about what kind of tone you can get from the amp with your favourite pedal that works great with your other amp but not with "this" amp you just bought. Idk man, sounds pretty biased indeed if you have bought and tried a pedal for a period of time with your favourite amp and kept it and then place it in front of an amp that you just bought or trying out, then the vid should be named: Trying out different pedals for "this amp".
Yeah there is some truth to the Wayne's World movie. When a small public access show starts getting given things and more things. It becomes a commercial and a shell of itself, and kills the soul of the show. That is what I see happening to this guy's show, the Waynes World effect.
Except the difference here is I still 100% dictate what gear I want to demo and what the message is, based on my opinion of the gear. How is it a commercial when I have negative things to say? I think you see "sponsored video" and already form a mental bias in your head. That's not on me. Nothing has changed about my videos whether they are sponsored or not, so it sounds like the issue resides with your own cognitive bias.
Aren't you smart enough to wade through the reviews by yourself and form an informed opinion, or are you an "everything's fake" non thinking kind of guy ?
Thank you for the comparison with the first version.
Your videos are great, man! Keep on doing them! They are a great palette of sounds for us to appreciate and try to achieve ourselves.
To be honest i dont think the amp was bad in the first place.im glad theres a presence control now
Exactly! 😂😂🤣😂😁 same here!
The chewy British crunch tones are sick. 🤘🏽
You owe all out war a nickel every time you play that riff😂
Great demo!!! Now I'm torn between this one and the Super Sheriff!
Great demo Kyle!

Kyle! Got a sweet opportunity on a black star S1 412 B cabinet. Any thoughts ? Maybe we could get a review? With some of them drop c hardcore riffs.

That one and the Super Jack are both sick but the Kraken has Midi Controlling Capabilities
i like the 1st one, this is that plus more
Do a high gain amp tier list!
Love it!!!
I like the sound of this thing ! Your playing has improved heaps Kyle ! I think a EQ would sort out those Eq spikes ! Cheers

Please continue to leave all of the word salad in your videos. I think it’s my favorite part if I’m honest lol.
Should chuck a bright overdrive like a dirty tree in front of it. I used a 50watt kraken and it was very dark. Dirty tree woke it up
I messaged before you used king in yellow. Sounded amazing
How does it compare to the evh stealth?
Bro! Kyle! you're a comedic Genius! I love you, even if you never review the Carvin Legacy VL 100

Maybe Victory is sporting a Hitler tax 🤷♂️. That sucks it runs higher for you there mate. Hope to hear your feedback on it.
I wonder how the Mark I would do with much brighter and cutting, like a Ceramic Nailbomb or Rebel Yell (I'm a BKP fan)
That noise you're getting really sounds like EMI from lamps, power supplies and similar.
This amp is made for low tuned guitars imo , that fatiguing mid frequencyni think becomes a strength around drop B or lower
Kyle, when do we get a Diezel comparison? There are at least 3 amps sitting behind you and we want to know how they compare. Thx :)
Amp sounds great. Reminds me of a JJ jr. but you have a gain knob on the clean channel. I've been gigging a JJjr. lately and it sounds amazing but the clean channel needs more options for what I do.
Not a bad sounding little amp and I prefer the MKII over the MKI, but both are really close in tone and great prices on each!!! \m/
That superb amp head balancing act haha
I wounder if the different head shells have anything to do with the slight difference in sound?🤔......😂
OK, Crunch mode with the King in Yellow got my attention.
Can it do an Exodus sound?
That's the same reason I can't get along with EVH amps. I really wat to love them, but i can't force myself to tolerate the fizzy highend, even with a parmetric EQ to filter specific freqencies.
Hey man have you tried them with the evh cabs?
@brookpike8517 No, I haven't.
Everytime I see a video of yours I realize that I really want fish man fluence pickups
A lot of people complain about the noise of the first Kraken.. did you experience a lot of noise with this MKII?
As I continue to watch the video, you answer my question 😅
I like low end in this amp.Better to have it than suffer luck of it.
Kyle "Keep the in mind" Bull
I like this
Sounds great. Needs a ZuuuuL on it tho.
Came for Channel 2, stayed for Channel 1.
4:30 Words are hard and no sizzle
KHE amp switcher is what's up.
That's my take away here.
Downstuned sounds fancy.
I have the original. It's a great amp. In this video Mkii sounds little better non boosted. Boosted sounds very similar .
Great comparison. The amps sounded way better through the Engl cab. Definitely more top end in the V2, but both sound awesome, if you ask me.

Wish it wasn't so expensive. For 50 watts. If it was like $1000 like the MT15 it would be EVERYWHERE

It's also imported from the UK which adds at least $200. Engl amps cost about $500-$800 less in Europe for an example of import fees.

I bought the Countess MkII and actually like it's OD better than the Kraken MKI. I mainly play Kreator thrash and Obituary type DM.

Amp sounded too dark/muffled and overly middy throughout the entire video.

Dude, I've played hundreds of amps and I can tell you they all sound the same. Just sayin
A Mesa single rectifier will never sound like a Splawn Quickrod. Just saying
Who the heck does not include a presence knob? I had a Victory Amp. Do not like it or Victory.
