- Can you remember your first Yugioh card? Are you a lob kid like me or are you from the master duel era? Hitotsume Giant will forever hold a special place in my heart as the gateway into the tcg. Gotta love old yugioh cards.

Really enjoying these lore breakdowns for classic cards!
Surprised this still didn't get a retrain or modern archetype around it
I am too, it seems like a perfect fit for at least a new effect monster retrain that’s just general beast warrior support or something
It has a retrain. Cybernetic Cyclopean.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wait what? Its say 17minutes ago. but been out for 4 days?
I would give my kidney to konami for a modern hitotsume giant archetype/buff
Just a single retrain with generic beast warrior support would be enough for me. I need it.

This is the stuff I live for lol 😂😂
it has nothing to do with any folklore lmao
Hitotsu-Me DIRECTLY translates to One-Eye
It's literally just one-eye giant. A direct translation of.....
the japanese name....which is literally just a katakana direct port from english of CYCLOPS.
It's nothing fancy. No reason to try to make it seem "exotic" or anything silly like that.
What's more curious about this card is that it's one of those few cards in the game which got a japanese name. Probably to make it seem more interesting to the US market than the typical Cyclops trope.
When looking through the earlier cards to see what kind of inspiration they were drawn from, I found Hitosu-Me giant listed as being connected to Kitotsume Kozo. When I looked up kozo I was amused by that and thought it would make a funny video. Hitotsume also translates to “the first one”, which just so happened to line up with its place in the anime.
You’re right though, many of the early cards aren’t fleshed out stories and are just plain one-to-one counterparts to existing creatures.
