My Dad is a Q, so I really wanted to be a Delta growing up. When I went to college I joined the Pep Squad my Freshman year with a few of my friends. It was fun, but I quickly realized then that it wasn’t really for me. I transferred back home to my local University my Sophomore year. The whole clique and being exclusive and snobby wasn’t really my thing. I didn’t feel like I would fit in with any sorority on campus. Years later I came to the knowledge of the truth about sororities and fraternities. I thank God I never pledged.
I renounced Delta almost 6 years ago now. I had alot of reservations before, during, and after pledging because I did not want to place anything or anyone higher than God in my life. My Bishop preached a sermon on Secret Societies years before I joined my church and it truly opened my eyes. I got rid of all the paraphernalia, books, clothes everything. I threw them away, and did not give them to anyone to keep them in bondage. To God be ALL the glory for redemption and knowledge of the Word of God and for saving my soul.
Not only that but in the Delta ritual they actually change holy scripture and insert the name of Delta? That can’t be good! Minerva is the god represented on their crest? The Bible clearly teaches that the gods of other nations are demons Psalms 96:5.
Caribbean-american here, Nothing wrong with syncretism. Very traditional in our region, has its history in overcoming the oppression of colonial and slavery times. These days, the church is openly ok with that heritage. That lady needs to decolonize her inner self.
