    0:28 NRG stadium opened in 2002. I mean, for 2002 it was a state of the art stadium back then. It made stadiums like Jacksonville, Carolina and Washington look obsolete and those stadiums were built just a mier 7 years prior. NRG was also the first NFL retractable roof stadium. NRG stadium is going on 22 years old, so of course it looks a bit dated compared to modern stadiums that were built in recent years.

      As a saints fan I always thought it looked pretty cool. But I thought it looked better as part of the skyline BEFORE they did those square renovations. it's also really sad to see what has happened to the AstroDome. But please don't tear it down, even if it costs a bunch of tax money to keep the building safe, it's tax money well spent. The AstroDome is an ICON

      @@RhinoXpressthat’s probably not going to happen. The least costly (and most likely) option is to strip it down to the steel structure and make it a park underneath. Well, the least costly is to let it continue to sit there like it is.

    NRG Stadium is actually pretty legit, I go to it at least 5-10 times a year for rodeo, football, soccer, and concerts and never had an issue with it. It doesn't feel like I'm walking into a relic. The concourses are easy to walk around, nothing seems dated. Very easy to get to any seat. Great viewing angles from even the nosebleeds with no obstructed seating. They update the stadium's wifi and cellular connections pretty often so its always easy to tweet or whatever during any event. They might do one or two minor things before the world cup but yeah, NRG ain't going anywhere for a long time.. that stadium stays busy year round

    A couple things: First, NRG Stadium opened in 2002 as Reliant Stadium. Second, the roof is almost always closed because it's hot and humid in Houston for at least half the year. Third, while not necessarily the best stadium in the NFL now, it was state of the art when it opened. A lot of sportscasters were commenting on how beautiful it was when it opened.

    the old Rangers stadium is known now as Choctaw Stadium, and I've been to an XFL game there. It was a fun experience and it was cool to see football in the off-season (not college or NFL season). I wonder when AT&T Stadium is going to install their grass field for the 2026 World Cup. Because the current pitch isn't wide enough, they have to raise the field 18 feet. To do this they will have to bury all of the ground-level suites and the first two rows. I wonder if they will do this in 2025 before the 2025/2026 NFL season or if it will be done in this $300 million renovation

    • @moose2021
      @moose2021 Год назад +4

      AT&T Stadium is going to begin the renovations to hold 2026 World Cup matches pretty soon, perhaps along with the "behind the scenes upgrades". As you've likely guessed, the pitch (presumably natural grass) will be raised, presumably with stairs to access it. Some of the first few rows of seats used for Cowboys games will be taken out of commission to accommodate the soccer pitch, but I don't know if the seats will be physically removed or if they'll just be covered up by the pitch and maybe something else. The stadium has held soccer matches before with few to no modifications, but as you know, the World Cup is a bit different.

Nothing built these days, save maybe Camden Yards and PNC, and maybe GABP, Petco, and Pac Bell, will be worth saving. Everything else will see a wrecking ball sooner than later. Just as spending obscene amounts of money on players doesn’t guarantee wins, spending ridiculous amounts of money on stadiums doesn’t guarantee a genuine charm that make them worth a damn. Money doesn’t buy that. Keep ballparks simple. We go there to watch a game, not to live there. Get rid of all these stupid bells and whistles that distract from the games.

When you get out of the car, and look up, it literally TOWERS over you with how HUGE and WIDE it is. And right down the road is GlobeLife and Choctaw. I've also seen ACC, and how beautiful that Arena is as well with all of the New Builds they've built in Uptown Dallas. Alot of them are new which is wild, cuz back in the Early 00s, it was all Parking. I've watched several of your videos and I've come to the conclusion that your talking points are very subjective. It would be educational to hear you discuss the financing of these facilities. Why do some college facilities last for 70-80 years with the minimal number of upgrades as compared to professional arenas that last for 30-40 years. Address the lack of profit sharing of ticket revenue for the luxury box seats at the new professional stadiums. You are only scratching at the surface of the problem that the billionaire owners and millionaire players bring to major league cities, regardless of the sports entertainment.

      College stadiums last forever because they already have a built in fanbase from the student body and 18-22 year olds do not care about the stadium being old and outdated as much as older adults do. They care more about the atmosphere of the stadium and the experience. Some NFL cities dont care as much and even take pride in not caring about having all the best amenities such as Greenbay and Buffalo, but those are outliers. When professional teams move into a city they start out with a much smaller fanbase than colleges and have to build up a fanbase and if the stadium is a not up to current NFL standards it will massively hinder the growth of the fanbase. Even established teams will have fans driven away if the stadium is a complete dumpster fire just like Fedex field.

    NRG stadium did NOT open in 2006
    It opened in 2002 when the TEXANS began play. Dude you ALWAYS have some false information in pretty much every video.

    Reliant... I mean, NRG opened in 2002 NOT 2006. Any point you make is invalid now. Please do proper research.
