- Deflecto - How to Clean a Dryer Vent with the Dryer Vent Cleaning Kit video walks you through how to help reduce drying time, improve dryer performance and reduce the risk of dryer fires.
After viewing and following this how to you will have a clean dryer vent.
Just used one I got at homedepot and worked great, Not long enough to make it up to roof vent so just had to break loose spot welds on roof vent for access and self tapping screw back together.
Make sure you only turn it clockwise with your drill. Go in and out while spinning clockwise otherwise it will come unscrewed. It's a great tool. Be sure to duct tape the joints of the tool also.
what size are the threads on the extensions
I actually love this product so much!!!!! I do this for a living and use 2 different systems, a compressed air system and a brush similar to this one but the ends lock together. I say I love this system because it makes me good money when the homeowner calls me and asks do I have tools to retrieve their broken or unscrewed rods that are now stuck in the duct work. 12 feet? Come on!!! Most lines are over 20 feet long.
Hello. Can I use this video for my compilation about amazing tools that are next level. You'll get the credits of course.
Hi! Sure, we'd love the support!
Ok, so I've lost the brush head in the vent..
We got 2 more kits to try and push it out. I've used the shop vac, now using a fish tape. Any other ideas???
Unfortunately, we don't have any other recommendations for getting it out. Be sure not to run your dryer though, as this is a safety hazard. Let us know if you figured out a solution!
this kit got stuck in my dryer vent beware
what did you do to remove it? mine got stuck too. thx!
any suggestions on what to do when rod gets stuck inside the vent?
Hi Izik! Any obstructions in a dryer venting duct are dangerous and we suggest detaching your duct to be able to access inside the pipe to remove the obstruction. To avoid this problem in the future, we would suggest duct taping the connecting rods together to prevent them from detaching as well as only using the drill going clockwise to prevent the connecting rods from detaching. Thank you!
Where can I purchase this kit?
It's available at The Home Depot, Walmart and Amazon.
"Use duct tape" to connect extending rods? Really? No way to screw together or lock the rods together?
The rods do screw together, but the tape is to ensure they stay connected if using the cleaning kit with a drill. The forces applied by turning multiple rods and moving the brush in and out of the duct can cause the rods to loosen during cleaning. The tape is one extra step to make sure everything stays together and no pieces accidentally separate inside of the wall.
My brush broke inside the dryer vent (I only had it and it was clockwise the whole time with the drill) .. now I can’t get the brush out .. ? Suggestions?
Did you use a drill with a clutch, or a regular 110 volt electric drill? You need to use one with a clutch so the drill will stop turning if the brush gets bound up. To get the brush out... sounds like you need to call a plumber.
Should make the screw attachment area just a little longer and add a lock pin to the setup to eliminate that type of issue.
Never use screw on rods. Trust me
i have no exterior vent plate outside the house. my guess is that my duct in the wall goes up to the attic.
Inquisitve m it probably vents out the roof. It's a hazard if it's vents into the attic
it has to go outside some where. out the side of the house is most common. to the backyard is most common area. by the air conditioner place outside is most common area. look for angled sheet metal vent sticking out of house somewhere. follow the 4" Galvanized sheet metal pipe.
It actually goes to the roof. Thus, such a pain to clean out...really sucks. Was hoping it would just be side of house. Oh well. Thanks Steve!
