I was about to say, why does she sound like a native English speaker? I thought: is she from the states? But she also has the slightest hint of a possible accent 🤔 but not enough to say English was a secondary language. First gen Asian-American here, (but my fam speaks canto) so I always find languages interesting. I didn't formally learn Cantonese, it was mainly by watching TVB/HK movies and speaking with family, but I remember speaking Cantonese as a baby. Bc when my older sis started to go to school, she came back and only spoke English but I would respond to her in Cantonese and would strangely understood clearly what she was saying -but I also thought: why are you speaking English to me when I'm talking in Cantonese to you? 😅
actually coincidentally she lived in hong kong for over a decade! i think that’s where her english is from (and i’m also first gen cantonese american here! i’m always the one responding in cantonese when my cousins especially speak in english to me it feels odd if i don’t 😭)
