Hi Martin! Here's some feedback from Troy: "Learning game design is really hard to do from just a book, video or short course. There are a ton of great youtube videos, a masterclass by Will Wright, some good books but also many bad ones. Many of them teach lots of small skills, but most don't give you the full picture. It is also hard to recommend stuff as the job of a game designer is extremely diverse. The book series Game Development Essentials, especially the Introduction book is a good first book to checkout (gdeseries.com/). This will give you a good overview to get started as will The Art of Game Design (schellgames.com/art-of-game-design). Otherwise you need to learn the basics of game mechanics and then begin to learn Unreal, Unity or how to build things in an engine. But remember that very few books and resources can guide you properly through the complexities of learning what real game designers need to know, so be careful and research what you learn or you may waste a lot of time learning things you don't really need to know like 3D Modeling or Programming. Good Luck!"
cant wait to come here soon
🎉🎉 We hope to see you soon! :)
Can you share the slides of the video here? :)
Great session! Can I ask what kind of game design books would you recommend (if there is any)?
