Goodbye Dark Sather! If 1 cup in 84 years wasn't a clear sign things needed to change, then I don't know what is. Drury has a LOT riding on this off season. Whatever moves he makes have to be done with the idea the Lafreniere and Igor need to be re-signed next season. If Laf is likely a must re-sign especially if he gets 70+ points next season. Rangers Reddit is nuts. Most of them are ''Pay Igor no matter what he wants.'' I don't like paying goalies a lot of cash when a good team can win with a 5 mil or less goalie when it's much harder for a team to win with a 9+ mil goalie. if Igor won't budge from 9 mil+ he needs to be traded to get something for him vs him walking.

Personally my big target would be acquiring Rutger Mcgotary from Winnipeg. Trade Kakko and 1st rd pick this year. Him, Laffy, Gabe,Ottoman are the future. I like Kane, but unless he takes a 3mil dollar deal, then I would pass. With Guentzel, I think Vancouver is going to land him. Familiar ties with alot of former Penguins in their system and probably can offer the most..The biggest question that Drury needs to ask himself,.is this Core of players enough to win the Stanley Cup?
And on guentzel. Ya he’s elite today. He’s also injury prone and 29. Mika was elite at his contract signing too. I realize guentzel does it in the playoffs, but do you really think signing another near 30 year old at 9 million for 6 years is wise? Do we ever learn
Injury prone? He has a broken thumb this year outside of that he’s been healthy since 2021 and the only season he missed a significant chunk in general is in 2019-20

How does that make sense when you’re stuck with Mika and gotta pay laf and igor next year while still having panarin and as of now trouba on the books for at least next year. Dead weight includes Kakko Lindgren chytil Trouba if Drury can find a way to get rid of all these players he can change the entire makeup of the team while keeping the core and I think that’s the only approach if you wanna shake things up cuz your not getting rid of Mika and panarin and getting rid of kreider would be stupid to do in my opinion and miller or Schneider should be kept unless it’s for a crazy trade like for Tkachuk or Alex Tuch

Why can’t you believe your saying that about Lindgren he stinks he’s not at all a top 4 d man on a cup contender and only trade miller if your getting like something crazy like Tkachuk or Tuch. Kakko Lindgren chytil should all be on the block and trying to get them outta here and obviously Trouba if they can ideally without retention but that might be very difficult

Sather did NOTHING FOR THE RANGERS but give away draft picks and young players which resulted in 1 cup appearance and 2 eastern conference finals in 20 years. All his success was from Edmonton which had about 9 hall of famers on it so even that success was not him. Signing Guentzel at 29 years old for 7 years would be dumb! Once again you people keep drinking the Ranger Kool-aide of signing guys to contracts which they will only be good for a little over half the years. STOP WITH always wanting to get the STARS instead of young guys. That way of doing things is exactly why we win one cup every 80 plus years

Totally agree! Glen Sather is dead weight from the first day he arrived at Rangers. I used to be a diehard Ranger fan watching since days of Pete Stemkowski, Brad Park, Brian Leetch, Jean Ratelle and many others and was soured by Sather arrival and his cocky-ness. I have since become a Devils fan and enjoying the move!

@@orlfane1622 Nah... 2.5mil x 3. Because of his age he can have incentives added to his contract. He'll be cheap. He had 47 points in 50 games last year on a young Detroit team. A 60pt guy (Kane) for 3mil or a 80 pt guy for around 8 mil (Guentzel). Personally I'd go with Kane and use money to fix our defense.
